I am writing a review for a local Lahaina florist, "A Special Touch" It is indeed special. I was so delighted with our beautiful arrangements I would like to acknowledge the company and recommend the service. We were retuning to Maui to stay at the Kaanapali Alii for 10 glorious days. May 24 is my birthday and my husband wanted to order some local flower arrangements for the condo: a smaller one for the bedroom and a larger one for the living area. I called the concierge before arrival to inquire about a florist they could recommend, she immediately told me about A Special Touch. She said that the owner does exquisite flower arrangements with local flowers. They were delivered five minutes after we arrived at our condo and I was so impressed by how beautiful they were, I had to acknowledge and recommend this special Lahaina florist. I was directed to their website so that I could cruise the different kind of arrangements and price ranges. There were a lot of different selections and they all looked gorgeous. When I called to place the order, I asked the owner which would best fit our space and our tastes. Upon her suggestion, we ordered the "Hawaiin Stlyle Tropical Centerpiece" and the "Jewel Tone Tropical Centerpiece" The prices were quite reasonable and we spent $222.00 for both including delivery. My experience with A Special Touch was fantastic. They came recommended, and I can see why. Although the website is modest, there's a menu of options with photos of the various bouquets, price and seasonality. When I called, LeAnne was a sweetheart and very helpful. I don't want to give a one star review; I won't go that low... They have great reviews. We live on the mainland in Texas and wanted to order flowers for my mother in law. Upon calling I mentioned specific flowers but was told, "you called the wrong place if you want gerbera daisies, we only do tropical flowers" I had already let her know I didn't know if flowers were same over there or not. That's a crappy thing to do to a potential customer. Upon asking questions of what they have for flowers, she told me to look at the catalog. I said I don't have one and asked again what they have. Long story short I felt spoken down to, rushed, and disrespected. I know this place has rave reviews and that's why I called them. But whomever answered the phone should truly be friendlier. If you live in West Maui - or are just visiting - and want flowers for a special occasion or an event, you will not find a finer florist than A Special Touch in Lahaina! They are a generations-old, family-owned business with locally-sourced blooms that will arrive dewy fresh and spectacularly arranged. And they don't arrive with a sign saying "Water me, I'm thirsty", either! In order to carry my recent Mother's Day bouquet from the Front Desk of our condominium complex around to our parking place I had to pour some water out of the container to get the flowers in the car! (I replaced it immediately, of course!). When I called my son to thank him and say how beautiful the flowers were and what a wonderful florist he'd chosen, he remarked that he always enjoyed ordering from A Special Touch because they were so friendly and helpful when he called. And....how many florists, during one of the busiest seasons of their year, take the time to leave you a voicemail letting you know that they just delivered flowers to your Front Desk....& sign off with "Aloha & Happy Mother's Day, my love..." ?!! As a resident, I've received bouquets from several different florists, but when the envelope holding the card says "A Special Touch" it always brings a special smile to my face; I know the flowers are fresh, well cared for, will last AND, if there's a problem, (as occasionally happens with live flowers) this family will make it right - usually 200%! Tropical arrangements, roses or lei, fruit baskets or gourmet baskets, weddings, special events or 'just because'; A Special Touch does them all. It is rare to find a business that has lasted decades here (and generations in Hawai'i) where the owners do so much so well and take such pride in their work. I'm so pleased with my experience with A Special Touch. I planned my wedding from NY, so it was a bit difficult to get in touch with this florist given the time difference and the gap in business hours. However, whenever I spoke to Leann, she was so pleasant and helpful. I was eloping so I didn't want a huge bouquet. I've shopped around a few florists for simple bridal bouquets and I found that A Special Touch was the most transparent with their pricing and super responsive and sweet to deal with (which surprisingly wasn't the case with some of the other florists on the island). No matter - It made it so easy to pick them as my florist! I decided to go with the small bunch style tropical bouquet (which Leann told me was more catered to bridesmaids) but perfect for our elopement. I also got some hair flowers and a boutonniere. Leann placed my order and sent an email confirmation immediately. The process was seamless and the flowers delivered promptly on my wedding day. Everything was perfect!! The bouquet was so beautiful and lovely. Everything came out perfectly. I even brought my bouquet back to the mainland. It lasted one whole night without water (oops my bad) and then another whole day on a flight without water. When I got back I put it in a vase. It lasted two whole weeks!! I definitely highly recommend this florist. The only thing I can think of is that it would be helpful to have an email for inquiries prior to placing an order - but their website is really really helpful (and transparent regarding pricing.) Planning a destination wedding had its challenges, which included finding the right florist. I called around and did not receive the warm and sweet greeting like I did with Leann. My wedding was small so I only needed a bridal bouquet, leis for the lei exchange, and a hair flower. Leann was so kind and understanding, which help alleviate my flower finding stress. She answered all my questions with details that were not featured on the website, and she also provided great recommendations. The website has various examples and also has prices, which a lot of the other Maui florists did not have. I asked if she could combine two bouquet styles with a pink and white motif with tropical and Hawaiian flowers, and she did a wonderful job. My bouquet included beautiful white cymbidium orchids, bird of paradise, pink ginger, pink anthurium, and pink plumeria, which is the signature Lahaina flower. I got so many compliments on my Triple Strand White Crown Flower Lei, which looked great with my wedding dress and in photographs. My guests could not believe they were real flowers. My husband got the Lei Kihapa, which was a popular groom's choice. They offer delivery, which was very convenient and one less thing to worry about on our wedding day. The prices are reasonable, and I highly recommend A Special Touch. I loved the service and flowers so much that I called Leann a week after my wedding to personally thank her. We came in from AZ for our elopement. I found this company a few weeks before when I wanted to have a small bouquet of local flowers. Leeann was wonderful and helpful in helping me decide what would be the best for my special day. She also was able to ensure my bouquet made it to the resort ahead of us, and called to let me know it was delivered and who received them. Never have I received such personal service with a florist. I recently sent flowers to my mother in law as a surprise who was vacationing in Maui. Leeann was friendly and kind from the start. Because I was not in front of a computer at the time to look at my floral arrangement options, she was so helpful and informative and she made the phone order so easy. I originally gave them the wrong hotel information which caused stress and anxiety on my end... but they were so understanding and patient with me.
