Grabbing some local Maui Onions & Bananas

What a wonderful little local business! Abundance of fresh local produce at reasonable prices. My newest find having overlooked this healthy oasis as I make a bee line to Maui Specialty Chocolates for their awesome moci. The store is rather small and packed with many non perishable items up front. In back you will find the tables overflowing with fresh local produce. I grabbed my favorite Maui Onions, bananas and Roma tomatoes on this visit. Definitely will return for my next healthy food run! Fast friendly service at checkout!

With a name like "Maui Greens Market", I thought this was going to be a plant store... but it turned out to be a grocery store! A Filipino store selling mainly brands that you commonly find in the Philippines. So all those food you've been craving and pining for? You'll likely find them here. They do have some produce in the back. And even a frozen section. Store is located in a small shopping center with sufficient free parking lot.

This is definitely the place to go to as a last resort for any filipino ingredients that you just can't find anywhere else. The only catch to this place is they charge a little more than other local filipino stores. Always check the expiration date on their items! I have experienced purchasing an expired product from them in the past, but if you notice it right away they usually will take it away and bring out a non-expired product for you. Also be aware of how much they charge you for certain items, they make mistakes but just reassure them of the correct price and they will gladly fix it. They are also at the swap meet by UHMC on Saturdays, they have delicious bananas which have always been sweet. They also have different types of bananas. Some good for eating and some cooking banana great for banana lumpia. Their vegetables are always nice and fresh.

Great local store in Maui! They have a good selection of fruits and veggies, as well as other Asian and especially Filipino food items you may need.

My cousin told me of this market a few weeks ago when I asked her where in the world she found a specific veggie I've been searching high and low for. ATMOSPHERE: The market is located in the L-shaped industrial building across the street from Paradise Food Mart and Midas. Parking was plentiful. The inside is a no-frills warehouse space and isn't air conditioned. MERCHANDISE: The majority of the goods are Filipino-based, but they also sell a few Japanese and Hispanic items as well. But what I came for was the fresh produce and found what I was looking for. What was it? I am not telling! It's really a farmer's market so the produce was affordable and fresh. SERVICE: Cashier service was quick and mainstream. TIP: No AMEX or personal checks accepted. OVERALL: Open daily, good prices, nice selection.

Pretty cool market to go to look for various items, which would make a nice stop to look and buy…read moresnacks and treat souvenirs. They do have some local fresh fruits as well. The fruits are pricier than going to foodland farms, so it depends whether you can find ripe fruits there or to then look at this market as an option. They have a variety of coffee beans and grounds, jams, chocolates, dried fruits and candies, etc. I bought a bunch of manoa chocolate bars there as their prices were cheaper than other grocery stores. Manoa chocolate bars are tasty and their dark chocolate single origin bars are amazing! They taste like having some alcohol flavor to it but without any alcohol flavors - this is due to the cocoa beans used was properly fermented and then processed for the natural delightful flavor of cocoa. Simple amazing!

They have pivoted hard into locally made food items versus local produce which I respect given all that Maui continues to recover from. They do have a very large inventory of candies, cookies, chocolate, spices, nuts, honey and coffee to choose from and they will ship for you which is great. Not free but it's a good service to offer. I don't like to shop at big box versus local however when the mark up is by $10 I have to go with the big W for the 100% Kona coffee as an example. Mark up a couple bucks, no problem. Ample parking including food trucks nearby so it's a busy place. Have a look and you decide. Hubby did buy a small bag of double chocolate Honolulu Cookie Company cookies which we hadn't seen elsewhere.

Wish you could bring the farmers market to your home, or a nearby pickup location? Maui Hub has…read morethat and more! The Hub is an amazing aggregator of local produce, eggs, meat and seafood, specialty foods and value-added products, herbs, and body care items, with freshly harvested seasonal offerings every week. Everything is local to the state of Hawai'i, most from Maui County, and each item identifies the farm or producer it came from, along with a description. How it works: create an account, place your order between noon Saturday and midnight Monday, and choose your pickup or delivery option (pickups are on Thursday, Fridays, or Saturdays, depending on location). If you're trying to eat more local and sustainably grown food but farmers markets aren't meeting your needs, check out Maui Hub. You can sign up for text and/or email reminders so you know when ordering is open and when your order is ready, which is a super helpful feature. SNAP-EBT is accepted and the Hub offers 50% off fresh produce and poi for these customers, as well as free home delivery. https://www.mauihub.org/

I've been using this service for a few years and overall had a good experience albeit not perfect…read more I recently complained that items were being cancelled on a weekly basis. All of these items were in high demand and since this a first come first served service made me question why this was happening as I always order right when the hub opens .Since then they haven't cancelled anything in my orders however both my subsequent orders have been unpleasant. Last Saturday I had a soaked through box and when I opened it the kombucha I ordered was on its side and had leaked all over everything and was half empty. When I removed the bottle I discovered the cap wasn't tight and when turned sideways it had a slow drip. Today's order again had all the items however you can see the state of the two avocados received. The lettuce was sold as a "living lettuce head " for 4.65 It's the size you would get at Lowe's to plant. It's unfortunate because there are really good purveyors who are selling their goods on this platform but unfortunately the management of this place seems to be less than adequate.
