I cracked a lense on my fairly new Maui Jim's and thought it was a total loss. I went to their website and saw that they'll charge me $50 to replace them and figured that's better than buying new shades. So I shipped them off last Monday (paid $4 for shipping) and expected to see my shades again in a few weeks. This past Monday, I got them back in the mail, fixed good as new. But here's the best part, not only did they include a note apologizing for the delay (it was only 1 week - that's a delay???), but they didn't charge me to replace the lenses. Maui Jim's are by far the best sunglasses I've ever owned! I have light sensitivity, and have to wear sunglasses pretty much everywhere I go when I'm outside, and every pair of glasses I tried made the problem worse. My optometrist suggested Maui Jim's, and after a week of wearing them, I have very little sensitivity, even without sunglasses outside! After a year of constant wear, my nose pads were in need of replacement and I had a stress crack in the lens (not sure how it happened, I don't remember dropping them) and I sent them in to be fixed, fully prepared to pay the replacement lens price. They put in new lenses for free, gave me new nose pads and sent them back in a new case! Maui Jim, you have won my business forever. Yes, they are expensive-- but are worth EVERY penny! read more

Wow - the service is unbelievable. My sunglasses broke from the bridge and I was planning to buy a new pair then somebody suggested sending it for repair and it was the best decision. You just print out instructions and mail it to them and voila after a few weeks you have brand new sunglasses (almost) . Was not even charged anything as was under Warrenty. I have been buying Maui Jim for the last 8 years(lost my earlier 2 pairs:-( ) and I am a customer for life now. Another experience I had was when I was visiting Maui and had a scratch on the lenses and just for kicks went to the Maui Jim office . They replaced my lens for free that time too. It's rare that I ever post a review for a company, but I have never experienced such great customer service. I was out fishing with a friend of mine and I let him borrow a extra pair of Maui Jim Kahuna (I own six different pairs!). At one point during the day he placed them in his pocket and accidentally sat on them. Since these are not plastic, they did not break, but the frame was bent and lenses popped out. I love these glasses, so I was not going to simply throw them away. So I sent them to Maui Jim expecting to pay at least $100 to repair these glasses, but to my surprise they sent me a new pair of glasses free of charge! Unbelievable! Customer service is a joke to put it nicely. My credit card was charged 5 times for one order equaling over $1200. When placing my order online for a style I can not find in any retailer, the processing page said could not process my order at that time. I called my bank after seeing my card statement showing 5 seperate charges for the same amount from maui jim and my bank instructed me to contact maui jim and have the charges reversed because if I did not i would have to contest each charge with my bank because all 5 were processed and went through. My bank assured me there was no error on their end and that the problem was with maui jim. I called maui jim and explained everything to them and that I wanted to place an order because I travel for work and never know where I will be next with the exception of a few days a month when I take a break. They told me I cant place an order online or over the phone because there is a problem with my card and they dont know what the problem is. I dont know what the problem is either because my bank already told me it should work and my available balance is more than enough to cover the cost. The maui jim supervisor I spoke to told me I would need to go to an authorized retailer that can place custom orders if i wanted to buy a pair of sunglasses. Again i explained that because I travel I can not order them because I may not get back to one of my homes for 6 or more months and that I know where I will be in 3 weeks so I want them shipped to that address. I wanted to find out why my card was not working on their end when it was clearly working on my banks end and the only response I could get from the maui jim supervisor was, "I'm sorry I dont know" and "I understand your frustration but there's nothing I can do, our credit card software is very secure." So secure in fact that it will not allow customers to place orders online or over the phone. Maui jim needs to hire people with at least half a functioning brain who can help customers. read more

I got super blacked out drunk and totally fucked up my glasses. Woke up with no lenses in them and the frame bent to shit. Called Maui Jim while hungover and they told me what I needed to do. The lady was extremely nice. I sent them in and they replaced the lenses for 60 bucks (and 10 dollar processing fee) and fixed the frames for free. I can't speak to the durability of the glasses because I have no clue how I fucked them up. They were completely destroyed, and past the warranty period. We sent what was left of the sunglasses to the Peoria, Illinois repair center willing to pay for all repairs. When we called to follow up on the repairs, we were informed that all repairs were completed and shipped back with only a $10 processing fee! I sent in my wife's 3 year old Maui Jim glasses because the "arm fell off". They sat in a desk for a year. I found them last week, placed a repair order and sent them to IL. I called customer service just to make sure I didn't mess anything up, they were super nice, well informed and made me appreciate being a customer of theirs. Over the last 10+ years I have had 3 pairs of MJs, also super nice. My wife's glasses were fixed and sent back within 6 business days free of charge. I was expecting a note saying "why are you sending us 4 year old glasses with no arm or nose pads". Instead all fixed. I literally don't know if I've ever been more impressed by not only a sunglass company but any company IN GENERAL. I have multiple pairs because for one, they are just incredible glasses with incredible lenses. My favorite pair of three years had been eaten by my dog, sat on, stepped on, dropped, and just about everything else you can imagine but they were still wearable and I loved them. I finally decided to send them to into Maui Jim for repair and they were super helpful with the whole process. I got busy and was not able to reach back out to them right away after sending glasses. Two weeks later I got a surprise package from Maui Jim..I opened it up and there were my favorite glasses, but a brand spankin new pair in a brand new case. This is not my first experience with them like this in all honesty and I have come away thoroughly impressed with everything from their products to their service! After receiving such fantastic customer service, I am now a Maui Jim customer for life. The left arm of my Breakwalls was broken after an over-enthusiastic hug from my niece (we were indoors, and it was on my shirt neck). I was just about to throw them away when I decided to check here for advice on their customer service. After reading many positive reviews, I decided to take a chance and mail them in - despite their being 4 years old and out-of-warranty. I authorized the $10 S/H fee and an additional $40 for expected costs. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to receive them back, cleaned and adjusted, arm repaired, nose bridge replaced - and they didn't charge more than the $10. Postage alone costs $5! So it seems they treated my repair as under warranty, even though it clearly was not. I wish I had the same customer service from my cable company! read more

One year ago I was in the market for a new set of shades. I went in to a local shop and they informed me Maui Jim's are unconditionally guaranteed. Well their not but they are the next best thing. Just over a year later I started getting a greasy film on the lens that was near to impossible to get off. It was coming from the nose pieces. After purchasing a pair of MJ sunglasses a few yrs ago, I have to say I am HIGHLY disappointed in the quality of these glasses and MJ's Customer Service. When shopping for sunglasses, I kept hearing how MJ stands behind their product and is a quality lens. I have NOT found this to be the case. In fact, I have bought glasses from Walmart that have withstood normal wear better than my MJ's. Not only do my lenses have fatigue cracks propagating through the lens but the coatings are easily scratched and the glasses are almost not even usable. I don't abuse my glasses and, in fact, these weren't even my primary glasses for everyday use. Yet, they show the most wear and are no longer usable. When discussing the fatigue cracks with MJ CS, I was told they only expect their glasses to last 2 yrs. SERIOUSLY???? I didn't spend this much on a pair of glasses with prescription lenses to only have them last 2 yrs. Bottom line is that MJ doesn't stand behind their product and I'll NEVER buy another pair of MJ's. read more

About 5 years ago I bought a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. At $350 they were an expensive investment for me at the time but well worth it. Beautiful frames and lenses and high quality all the way. A couple users ho by and while golfing one day I left them in the seat of the golf cart, took my shot, came back and say on my glasses! They were crushed! I was heartbroken!! So I sent them in to the repair dept and they returned them completely repaired free of charge. I was ecstatic! Then about a month later I had them on top of my head and stood up under a fireplace ledge and crushed them again, sent them back a second time not expecting any help and a few days later they came back like brand new!! Well a few years go by and a few months ago I tripped and fell face down on the sidewalk. My glasses were on my face when I fell and not only was my face a bloody mess but my glasses were crushed beyond recognition. So I sent them in one more time with no hope at all that they could be repaired but on the outside chance they could be I was willing to pay $100 for the repair. Well I was right. The glasses were completely destroyed beyond hope! So what did they do? They gave me a brand new pair with case for $100! $250 less than retail price of 5 years ago! Maui Jim has the BEST sunglasses and warranty out there. I'm on my 4th pair of them...lost a few...and recently I bent over and my sunglasses fell off my head and landed on the hot top. I ended up scratching the frame and spiderwebbing a lens. Anyway, I got my Maui Jim package in the mail approx 1.5, maybe 2 weeks later and inside were a brand new pair of glasses. Guess what the charge was? $10 for shipping...and that is it! They claim that they were late getting my repaired glasses back to me and that is the reason for no charge. Either way...every time I deal with a repair of my Maui Jim sunglasses it has been a surprisingly pleasant experience. Even when they charge for the repair, its not that expensive. We probably have six pair of Maui Jims. At one one point I accidentally sat on one pair breaking them in three places. Their customer service is very well known to be generous and fair with repairing. Which they did, for a fraction of the cost. No other company has such a wonderful repair department and policy. This is why when we get that urge for a new pair, we don't look at any other brand, PS I have a pair that must be one of their first. I was given instructions on how to return my glasses for repair which I did in a box provided by the place I purchased them. I received a phone call from the repair department and there was some confusion as to which glasses were mine which was quickly resolved. I was pleasantly surprised to find my repaired glasses in the mailbox today with a note that due to it taking longer than expected there would be no charge!! I purchased my maui jim's only three months ago at the retail store, Sun Diego in Del Mar, CA. Today unfortunately I was putting on my Maui Jim sunglasses and randomly the arm of the sunglass fell off! I noticed the screw came totally out and I have no idea how it could have came out! I take very good care of my Maui jims because of the expensive price I paid for them because of the good "quality" they supposedly are made to be. But, apparently I thought wrong. I have only had these 300 dollar glasses for only 3 months and can't believe that they broke already! I have never dropped them or stretched them out in any way. I always after every use, place them in the case I got them with and even the little cloth bag it came with! So there is no reason the screw should have popped out unless the product was either defective or made poorly. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this company now because of my experience with the quality. This should not happen to sunglasses that are raved about to have such good quality. If someone could please reach out to me on this matter I would greatly appreciate it because I would never recommend or buy anything of Maui Jim products again. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! I have had three pair of Maui Jim's throughout the past six years. My first pair broke at the hinge of the L arm. Second pair the coating on the glasses started peeling. This last pair the lens scratched. I have always put my glasses in the case when they're not being used. And I never fling them around, ever. In this particular case, I bent over and they fell off my nose!! Gently touching the ground. I don't play sports wearing them, etc.. There should not have been a reason for this supposedly quality lens to have scratched in the first place! I read everything involved with the exchange of these glasses. Right down to the smallest print & did I see any other hidden cost for the repair of my sunglasses, that are still under warranty!! Free returns, my ASS! It cost me money to ship them, plus to insure the shipment, then I had to include a $10 check to MJ for the repair!! Today I received a call telling me they want $60 to fix the lens?!! Again, these glasses were still under warranty! What does that mean if they are charging me now over $70.00 for a scratched lens repair?? I bought a pair Ray-Ban's over 8 years ago, I have never had an issue! For the record, all quality sunglasses have the same type of UV protection as Maui Jim's. I will never, ever do business with them again! And I will be sure to post this on Facebook and tell every friend I know to buy elsewhere for their next pair of sunglasses. Can you say, "RIP OFF?!" Wow, what a great experience I just had with Maui Jim repair. Dropped my Ono sunglasses on the floor and snapped the frame. Before trying a crappy DIY repair myself, I looked up Maui Jim repair and gave them a try. I gotta admit I didn't have high expectations - thinking it would be better to just but a new pair. I couldn't have been more wrong. The service was outstanding and the repair cost (actually they replaced the lens) was very reasonable price. I actually got a call from the technician who seemed apologetic that they had to charge me at all. They mailed my glasses back with a new case and cleaning cloth. They treated me like they wanted me as a customer for life - rather than someone they could make a mint off from a repair. I will be a future customer because of this great experience. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would! First off it's not a problem with the sunglasses that I have it is a problem with the service. I have bought several pairs of MJ for my husband always with Sunglass Hut. Well when a pair of his sunglasses got a shattered lens it was recommended to me that I see if the repair center could fix them. I headed over to Sunglass Hut to which I showed them the glasses and they reprinted a receipt to send off to the repair center (mistake #1 because apparently that receipt did not match the glasses that I showed Sunglass Hut! Apparently their receipts are store specific therefore the sunglasses that were broken I purchased in Mexico and had no receipt for). I contacted MJ and was told it would be $10 to look at the glasses and they would determine the cost for fixing my glasses a few days later I received an email from Wiley stating it was $85 to repair the lens; fine still cheaper than the a new pair. When I received the sunglasses from MJ 2 weeks later I was sadly disappointed to see that the glasses sent to me WAS NOT the pair that I had sent to them. And the glasses were broken on the part connecting the eye and the part that goes over the ear. I contacted them the same day telling them of the silly mixup (still not realizing I gave the a receipt for the wrong glasses. I sent a receipt for PALMS, but the glasses I sent were CANOES). I wish that Sunglass Hut would have caught their error when inspecting the glasses. They think I'm trying to pull a fast one, ah yah NOT why would I bother fixing the lens on a POS Sunglass that obviously has other issues and were broken in another part. The service department apparently doesn't track the glasses sent in thoroughly and were unwilling to help. I offered to send the glasses back and some type of reimbursement or credit and they were of absolutely 0 help; which I wish I could give them 0 stars. So basically i have someone else's broken sunglasses and someone obviously received an upgrade in sunglasses and I'm out $85 for a POS I don't even want. read more
