Called to have my yearly furnace service. He came, looked, kept saying "nice, nice!" Did nothing, not even cleaned the filters with a shop vac sitting right there beside the furnace. I was sitting on the steps watching him do nothing. Then he went outside to look at the HVAC. Said the two pipes coming from the house needed covers. Huh? Said he'd come back tomo . But he wanted to be paid for today. Huh? He did nothing. He said he wanted to be paid for the service call. But there was no service. What a way to do business, almost a joke!!! read more

The hot water tank in our house stopped working in December 2020 and we called out Mavco. Upon investigation, their technician determined that the electrical element had burnt out, but he could not undo the old element (our home is only 7 years old) as it was 'corroded' and stuck. So they had to replace the complete hot water tank, element and thermostat unit. This costed us $1,300. On November 22, 2021 (after 11 months) our hot water tank stopped working again, and again I called Mavco. Their technician arrived the next day (Nov 23) and upon investigation declared that the electrical circuit breaker had tripped due to a 'potentially faulty' thermostat, but left without replacing it or doing any other repair work. On Nov 24 I received an invoice for the 'call-out' from Mavco for $220, but my hot water tanks was still not functioning. I called Mavco on Nov 24 and they promised to investigate. It is now Nov 29 - one week and a bill of $220 later - and our hot water tank is still not working. The complete hot water tank is still within its 12 months warranty, which seems not to mean anything for Mavco. I called their service desk again and they 'promised' again to investigate I'm sorry that there is not a minus star rating possible, as this will be the only way to assess Mavco's performance. My recommendation to any potential customer is to avoid them as far as possible - companies with such poor performance do not belong in our valley!!!!!! read more

Over 8 months ago I called MAVCO to see if I could get someone to come and look at my water boiler and was told by some young girl that she would call me the next day to Set up an apointment with a plumber ....she never call back !! Fast forward to last Saturday ! Again I called MAVCO and spoke to an after hour operator who took down my name and phone number and few details about my problem . On Monday morning I got a call from Chantal who ask me what was my problem so I told her in details what it was and she told me that she would call back the same day to set up an appointment with a plumber for the next day ......she NEVER call back that day !! So this morning I called and asked her if she had set up a visit to my house from a plumber ?? She act completely confused and again I had to tell her again about our conversation from yesterday and finally she said that there was minimal fees for a visit and an estimate from the plumber !! I told her that I knew that because I told her on Monday morning that it was ok !! Then all of a sudden she said that her plumber had called off sick today and she didn't know when he would be back !!. She didn't appeared to be interested in talking to me and never offer to call me as soon as she find out when a plumber could be dispatched to my house. Her communication skill were absolutely atrocious and my experience with MAVCO left me with a real bad taste in my mouth !! I will never recommend this business to anybody !! If I could I wouldn't allow even a one star !! read more

I called Mavco Plumbing/Home Depot/Home Hardware and a private contractor for Costco. All 4 Quoted the same hourly rate and estimated time that it should take to replace a gas Hot Water Tank with the same size and capacity tank. (2 to 2 1/2 hrs) at a rate of $85 per hour. I measured my own tank, went to Home Depot to buy a Rheem 40 gal tank (same size as the tank removed) with a 12 year warranty. Bought exactly the same size and was assured by the plumbing associate that it was a straight exchange, no duct work or extra plumbing required. Called Mavco, because I feel it's important to support the local economy. I wrote down the time that "Terry" arrived as well as the departure and arrival times of two trips that he made to pick up parts (a drain pan, a dolly to remove the old tank, and a water intake pressure reducing valve which that I feel should have been onboard his van)...and then the time he left. My 2-3 hr job ended up being billed for 4 3/4 hr... (he arrived on the job at 10:45am and pulled away from the curb at 3:05) ... not to mention the two trips he made to collect equipment he should have had onboard. I supplied the tank, and their bill for installation came to $797 When I complained to the Manager he told me that his employee had been with the company for many years, and so doubted that there was any deceit. He told me he would check the vehicle's gps, print me off a copy, and call back the next day.... which would prove my point. I waited til the end of the 2nd day to call him and was put on hold until after business hours... then the answering service took a message. When he finally showed up at my residence, with a copy of the bill in hand but no copy of the gps report, he told me there was extra work involved because I had purchased a cheap tank (... believe me, this was not a cheap tank) and that new plumbing was required because the new tank was a different size. I feel that nearly half of this amount should have been refunded, but was told it won't be. After the fact, I found out that this company had taken advantage of other seniors in my complex.
