I went into Maven to meet with Stefani, never heard back from her BTW. After calling repeatedly, Vanessa calls me back and goes into detail about how I don't have enough experience to get a job over $19-$20 an hour. She literally laughs and says "I mean you have experience but it was from years ago". SO rude and belittling. She went on to explain to me WHAT an administrate assistant does, and described it as "almost the lowest position, THAT IS above front desk".... incredible! I have another recruiter that is finding me higher pay and better positions. Don't waste your time taking an appointment with a recruiter at Maven. However, I really want to take this moment to highlight Stefanie Jass, who's truly an extraordinary human & recruiter. From the get-go, Stef understood my goals, hopes, and needs during my job hunt. While looking for a permanent placement, I also wanted to take on as many short term assignments as possible, to stay active and make ends meet. Within a few days of meeting Stef, she confirmed me for my first short term assignment, and landed me assignments every week after that over a span of 2 months. I am pretty sure that they post fake jobs to build their pipeline. I went in and met with a recruiter. She sounded like she was ready to market me and would do so successfully based on my background. That was the last I heard from her. I have reached out several times via email. She never returns my calls or emails. Posting fake jobs appears to be a part of the recruiting firm's practices. I have had one recruiter, out of NY, market me and facilitate the initial phone interview. She is now working on my next steps (in-person) interview at Mozilla. Aside from the NY recruiter, it's hard to have faith in the local recruiters that say they will help but then disappear after your first interview with them. She was quiet nice but unfortunately, she was in hurry. She told me the interview won't be too long because she was going on her break. They immediately got me scheduled for 2 different interviews the following week with the actual companies looking for a temp w/ potential for permanence. I think I am on their bad list because I turn down a temp position that I was told by the person I interviewed with would never go perm because they didn't want to pay maven for a placement.
