I'm not quite sure where all the 5 star ratings are based on, my experience with the team was okay to begin with as they were touting they have amazing opportunities and will match me up with some. A couple weeks to a month goes by, I started emailing them regularly (Every couple of days to about weekly) due to their lack of communication and follow-up. Then it came to the point when one of the recruiter emails me and tells me that their clients don't think my style of communication is appropriate for them.. like, how would they know if my resume/profile wasn't pushed out to them or even haven't spoken to them over Zoom or phone? I don't recommend using them as they probably have a set of high standards and preference to help others with a more bubbly personality or come across way professional in how they present to them. This person scheduled me for a 15 min interview on Mon. June 6th and ghosted me. Cut to today Friday when they reached out again and asked for another meeting saying it has been a busy week. I was all like ok cool. So we scheduled a meeting (without any means of doing so). Of course I was ghosted again. I'm so sick of these company's or bots whoever and so I thought it would great to pop over and write a review. I want to love this recruiting group, however, after an unfortunate experience, I'm compelled to leave a review so they can do better! I began working with Maven sometime in May or June of 2022. I was assigned to Stefani. I went through many interviews with many different companies and was eventually offered a contract to hire position. Stefani was really excited for me to take this role until I actually received the offer. She then began questioning me and asking if I really wanted to take the role due to the distance. She expressed no other concern in my accepting the role. About a month after starting with that company, I wasn't happy with the company I was contracted for and they weren't happy with me, so my contract ended. It was then that Stefani expressed her concern for me taking that role, indicating that it was a challenging role and she was worried that it may be too much for me. That would have been helpful information to share prior to me taking the position. I continued working with Maven and was offered an interview to do some temp work while I was searching for a more permanent role. Stefani indicated it would be four days a week, 8-9 hour days, which was a great temporary opportunity. However, when I interviewed for the role, the interviewer indicated they only needed someone for maybe 9 hours a week or so, which was significantly less than what I was originally told. Immediately after the interview I emailed Stefani and let her know that I wouldn't be taking the role as it wasn't the right opportunity for me, as I needed something with more hours than what was being offered. A couple of days later, the main recruiter for the role, Shirin, emailed me asking if I'd like to accept the role. Clearly nothing had been communicated. When I shared the same information with Shirin that I shared with Stefani, I received a somewhat curt response from Shirin stating the role was always "part time". Obviously if it's not 40 hours, it's part time. Again, huge difference between 30ish hours a week and 9 hours a week. I then emailed Stefani to follow up and let her know that I wasn't trying to burn bridges but had I received accurate information, I wouldn't have even gone through the interview process. The only response I received was, "I hope you're having a better week". My week was great! Not sure why that was the response I received. I never heard from them after that. I share all of this to say - communication within the organization needs to improve and the information you share with your candidates should be accurate so as not to waste anyone's time. Lastly, if you decide that a candidate is not someone you want to continue working with, terminate the relationship professionally as opposed to just ghosting. Had you emailed me and said "hey, based on all the information we have, we no longer feel we are a good fit for you" I would have understood, as working in the tech industry for the first time was a total shock and that is the majority of the Bay area/Maven's clientele and I realized how much I didn't enjoy my experience in that world. After this zoom meeting, I never heard back from him, so I applied online and for several jobs and was told that job was not available either. I started to see a trend. During a job search, "intro meetings"  are an everyday thing.  What you did, what you're looking for, your professional traits, etc. - are all well-practiced responses for someone job hunting. When I met Tareh at the end of last year, I wasn't ready to take on a new role immediately, but I wanted to explore the market, and see if what I wanted was even possible. When we connected, for the first time in my job search, I was challenged to really articulate what I wanted.  Tareh didn't just ask the basics: she asked who I was as a person, what brings me joy at work, and dug deep to present scenarios and roles she had available. At the end of that call she said she'd keep me in mind, that what I was looking for wasn't immediately available, but she was "on it". Not long after, I took on a role I didn't love, with another recruiter, flattered by the prospect of a company going out of their way salary-wise to engage me. It was especially difficult to feel like I betrayed my own interests because what I wanted just wasn't available.  Through it all, Tareh would ping me to mention roles close to what I hoped to get. Her emails kept the flame alive, and eventually, we landed on a role that was a perfect fit for me. Yes, ultimately that is the success story, but the greatness is in the details:  * Tareh shared thorough information and prep for each meeting and interview. She was always candid about the state of the search, the state of my candidacy, and the next steps.  *I never had to chase Tareh for updates. She was consistently available to me within an hour of me reaching out.  * She exudes realness and compassion: I love that I can tell her what is important to me - exactly - in terms of salary, culture, relationship to boss, industry, diversity and geolocation, without feeling judged for making the decision that was right for me:  giving up a small portion of comp for the chance to work fully remotely. This is by far, one of the most important things to me, and Tareh was a world-class recruiter in this area. I've not seen better from c-level executive searches.  * She advocated for me, and clearly, for the client - which makes me a future client. As a candidate, the ability to trust that your recruiter will convey the nuances for your reasoning to a panel of clients is unique. I always felt that whatever I told Tareh would be conveyed with honesty, eloquence and nuance, and that I'd get a true response in return.  *Tareh is clearly very intelligent. I realize this is a bit more intangible, but you absolutely do want someone with her cognitive horsepower predicting outcomes, prepping you for conversations, and asking other candidates questions and taking thorough notes to share with you.  I have a ton of gratitude for Tareh's job, but I am most grateful for her approach to doing it, and how reassuring and transparent she made the process. I can't wait to hire her when I am in a position to need her, and my recommendation is that candidates speak to someone like her before they think they need to - you never know! read more

I, too, am one of the people with a negative experience. I replied to an ad that turned out to be a Maven posting. I received an email stating it was through a recruiting group and we chatted back and forth - I was then asked to meet someone in person. I took time off work in the afternoon, navigated to the satellite office they have in San Mateo. Got there... waited and the recruiter and I met. She seemed really upbeat and interested in my resume and new search. She even said I was a good match for the original ('bait') posting. They had other recruiters working on jobs that they'd put me in contact with... I am now 2 months in with NO COMMUNICATION from them. I emailed each of them TWICE for followup with no response. This ghosting thing is out of control. I also sent emails regarding a new posting I saw in the obvious Maven style last week. I am qualified for many of the jobs they've posted but they won't even return my emails. A simple "it's been filled" or "we'll submit your resume" would suffice. I specifically asked if I was a viable candidate (expecting a blow off), but nothing. Many of these negative Yelp reviews show a response from a Manager/Owner saying they do respond. Show us... There are too many people saying the same thing. Customer service is important. We're here, putting ourselves out there for YOU to make a commission/placement fee. I am also calling ageism. Why did I have had to show ID for a I-9 if they aren't actually placing me somewhere? That glance at my document told them all they needed to know. I don't look my age and I can work circles around some 20 yr old - plus, I have the experience of doing this type of high level EA work for years that they lack. What's the deal? I'm just so disappointed in my experience with Maven. Save your time and gas money. read more

They are such a waste of time. I have worked with tons of recruiting agencies over the years and have never had such awful interactions. The office is nice and polished, you'll meet with someone who has something in their pipeline that fits your skills, they will have you meet the rest of the team and that will be the end of it. You won't hear back from them stating the status of the jobs either way. Very unprofessional. I met with them in 2016 and got a job through another agency. I met with them again years later and it was the same deal. They have jobs posted all the time on LinkedIn but will never get back to you even if you're qualified. They wont reach out to say hi we have other opportunities either if you apply to any of their posts. I had a recruiter call me after months of applying asking if I still lived in the East Bay which I haven't in 5 years. Seek help elsewhere. read more

Do NOT waste your time working with them! I've worked with a number of recruiters in the past and have NEVER had such a negative experience, in the contrary, it's always been pleasurable. Maven Recruiting Group will try to push you to meet them at their office, to drive all the way there, pay for parking and waste your time talking to them. I met with Gillian Lopez October 12, we talked about the open positions I was interested in and worked together in making my resume more Admin looking. She requested that I worked on my resume the same day and to turn it back to her if possible that evening. So I went home and stayed up late working on my resume, only so she could email me back 5 days later excusing herself for her late response and saying "I'll reach out once I have a role that speaks to what you're looking for." but there were roles we had discussed she would apply me for, that was the whole point of going to their office. But her delay in responding is proof of her lack of organization. On November 25th after not hearing a word from her or anyone at Maven, I sent her a kind note to ask if she had found any position available for me, attached is a picture of that message with NO RESPONSE after almost 2 weeks of sending it. She was insistent on doing it in person so reluctantly I did. I met with Christine Morico to chat about what I'm looking for in my next job opportunity I felt went well. I was instructed to "stay tuned". Weeks went by and I didn't hear anything so I reached out to both Jessica and Christine, radio silence. I waited about a week and sent another follow up email, I never received a response from Jessica and Christine responding back with - "At this time I can't really see the roles we are working on fitting your work life balance or what you are looking for in terms of culture fit. Best, Christine" I almost bursted out laughing, this is the most ridiculous thing I'd ever seen. Apparently when you've been in the professional world and know/have a better idea of what you want - which isn't just another job, Maven can't be bothered. For those of you who want to have professional communication, for the recruiters to actually hear what you're looking for, to not have some fresh college grad who really can't understand your position, to not feel like you're just another warm body to be stuffed in a shape that long term won't fit DO NOT use Maven under any circumstances. I rarely write Yelp bad reviews but I felt this experience really warranted one. I went to Maven back in November when I was first beginning my career change (I was mainly looking for direct hire positions at this point but did say I was possibly open to temp ones as well). I met with Dana who was very nice and provided me feedback on my resume. She then introduced me to the rest of the office and everyone appeared to be kind and helpful; I had a great feeling walking away from my meeting with them that day. Fast forward, I quit my job a few weeks later and emailed Dana to let her know that I am now free and interested in temp positions. She said she'll get back to me if something opens up which she never did. I then received an email from their company with open positions (all of which were right up my alley) so I sent another email to Dana. She said she'll talk to the recruiters working on the assignments and see if there's a fit there...no response after that. A recruiter that I work closely with and trust from another company sent over my resume for a position they were trying to recruit her for (there are recruiters out there who actually care about you!) and I was contacted by Susan. Susan was nice and we talked a bit. I pointed out that I did meet with Dana before in November and she referred me back to her (sent an email to her and I was CCed on there). This was 2-3 weeks ago and Dana never responded to that email, not even to acknowledge it. Perhaps I was not the best candidate for them or they really could not help me, either way I would have appreciated that sort of upfront honesty versus this type of treatment (I have worked with recruiting companies for that did honestly tell me that they couldn't help me which saved both our time). This is not just an incident isolated to myself. I've talked to other friends who have worked with this company also and they all had the same thing to say: they weren't responsive, you have to keep on bugging them for anything etc. One of my friends was treated in a very condescending manner as well by one of the recruiters when she met with them (first meeting). I'm just so puzzled by this experience as compared to all these great ones on here but I thought it would be best to share. This agency is a waste of time and I had a horrible experience. I was messaged on LinkedIn by a recruiter, a phone call was set up the following day and it was fine. The lady told me I sounded like a good fit for an internal position and that she would like to bring me in for an in person interview. She failed to inform me that I was in fact not interviewing for the internal position. I had to make an excuse at my current job thinking this in person interview would pay off. There were many things that went wrong: 1. I was told to arrive at 8:00am, I got there and had to wait 20 mins for someone to come by and open the door. I was knocking and could hear people in the kitchen microwaving food but they wouldn't open the door until someone walked by and saw me. 2. I was interviewed by someone else because the original person was double booked. They clearly lack organization here. 3. They lied to me and didn't interview me for the internal position but instead asked me general questions as if I were a candidate looking to find a job placement through them. When I confronted the original recruiter about all of this she apologized and told me this wouldn't affect my prospects at getting a job. I haven't heard back since and it's been 2 months. I really don't know why they expect people to be able to take time off of work just to go into an interview for them. Instead they should do interviews over FaceTime or Skype like Robert Half or Ajilon. If you're looking for a legit recruiting agency stick with the big ones that are actually trustworthy. read more

Where do I even begin? Working with Maven has been an amazing experience. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have gotten so many phone screenings and interviews. The recruiter I worked with was JULIA and she was a gem! Always contacted me about new opportunities I would be a good fit for, very quick to get back to me and easy to get in touch with. After a phone or in-person interview, I would give her a call to follow up and let her know how it went. Julia gave me great advice on questions to ask during the interview and important things to highlight. I think Julia is an outstanding recruiter and I am happy to have been able to work with her! In the end, I found my perfect job through applying myself online, but I thank Maven for setting me up with so many interviews and coaching me on how to do well on them. Out of 40+ recruiting calls and 12 interviews, I only ended up working with two recruiters (after a few days of trying to work with a few). Maven was one of the two I trusted. I really wanted and needed to only work with agencies that had both their candidates and their clients on their mind. It's a matching service and to make a good match, recruiters need to consider both sides and I really felt Maven did that. Kirsten was my main recruiter and she really listened to what I wanted and matched me to amazing opportunities. From the candidate side, it was amazing. I have a strong resume and very strong references from most of my bosses. I, however, do not interview very consistently. Depending on who interviews me, it can go right or very wrong. I interview very honest and though sometimes I know what would be the right answer, I can't bring myself to overcommit. Though what I want is to commit to a great company, I can't bring myself to say what some companies are looking for on the first interview. Maven was very patient and I greatly appreciated it. Had they dropped me at some point, I would have been okay for all they had done for me in the first two weeks alone. I know I had high expectations and was not exactly easy to work with. The fact that they stuck with me made me felt really good. Though I had confidence during this round of job search, it always hurt to be dropped by someone. The fact that I messed up on some interviews and they called me to tell me the feedback and worked with me was more than I could hope for -- it's very comforting and above and beyond anything I could expect. Susan and Kirsten sent me to some great companies and in the fields I wanted. Like amazing, top ranking ones! Honestly, they remembered everything I wanted at the first interview with them. I had forgotten one of the things I wanted was a nice office and they assured me with each company they sent me for that the office was amazing. The offices really were amazing and that's the attention to detail Maven had. Theres no doubt in my mind that recruiting agencies work harder for clients than candidates and if they worked that hard for me, I can only imagine how much they work for their clients. From some of the interviews I went on, I definitely felt that Maven had wonderful relationships with some great companies. I'm so appreciative to have them on my side. You know sometimes how you leave interviews with a better answer to some questions? I would tell Susan and Kirsten after my interview and they helped me rely the information when they can. I got some crazy second chances because of them. I actually also got a job eventually through them. I dreamed of working in SF for a long time now and establishing a life here. Maven very much made it possible. I know recruiting firms can't help everyone. I definitely recognized that during my job search and I definitely recognized some firms where I would never want to work with ever. Working with Julia and Hayley at Maven was a delight! From the first call to my first day at my new position they were amazing! The process for me from initial call to job offer was around a month. Julia was great in my pre and post interview prep! There were a few interviews were I didn't feel great coming out of but she kept my spirits high!
