A large and clean convenience store and gas station just off I-40. Prices are what one would expect on the road, but not price gouging as we've seen in some of the smaller highway-adjacent convenience stores. This would be a five star review except for the fact that there was a long long line and two registers open but the larger man working the second register never called any customers over. Her just stood there doing absolutely nothing while the woman at the other register took care of everything. At one point she finally said, his register is open, prompting customers to go to him. She had to do that multiple times to keep the line moving. read more

I am always surprised at how small the bathrooms are here, especially when you consider how big the place is and how busy they get. The restrooms are not exactly clean either. What a great place to stop when you're on a long road trip. It takes a lot for me to give a travel stop gas station 5 stars but Maveriks has definitely earned it! Decent gas prices? Plenty of pumps? Diesel? Clean bathrooms? Big, lush grassy area for the dogs? Shaded area with tables to sit & eat? Well-stocked store with friendly employees? Easy off/on from the freeway? I wanted to share my recent experience with a stop at the Holbrook #478 store. I was traveling and recently stopped with my family for gas and snacks. There was a Caucasian female employee that had glasses and a ponytail that was EXTREMELY sick. I did not see a name tag and she refused to share her name when asked. She was touching everything and coughing on all the open food and she sounded like she had laryngitis. I made comments she should not be at work and should be wearing a mask and I believe a manager at the location heard my comments but decided to ignore everyone's safety. This is irresponsible of management and Maverick to put everyone's safety and health at risk. Please consider that the health of others is important especially since some customers may have compromised immune systems. Horrified that this store would endanger their customers. Stopped here on our way from Grants, NM to Phoenix, AZ where we live. This gas station is slightly off the I-40 in Holbrook and usually gas stations right off the freeway have higher prices. I found the Maverick to be reasonable and have a wide variety of snacks, drinks, and coffee. I visited the coffee area and they had several machines with different types of coffee that is ground fresh. I opted for the higher caffeine content one and it did the trick! They only had hazelnut and pumpkin spice creamer but it looks like there's space for other types, they were just out. Luckily I had almond milk with me. The staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

Looking for a cooler but they didn't have any. What they did have was a large walk in cooler of alcohol along with the gas and convenience store items. Women's restroom could stand a cleaning with the large amount of volume. Plenty of cashiers so we were checked out quickly. There's an area to sit at with a pet clean up stand providing plastic poop bags. It was nice to be able to sit outside for a bit and stretch. Still hot without much shade but the table and benches were clean. A little crazy in traffic patterns coming in and out of the gas pump area so be careful. Also people walking everywhere to get from their vehicles to the store and back. read more

Cheapest fuel on the I-40 and the restrooms use quality "Scott's" TP so there's why I'm 'n this Mavericks! Race fuel and discounted light truck fuel prices for Diesel. Food/snacks are as high as all the other truck stops but that's how we live cuz no one voted to protect the lower taxes lol. Would poop here again !!! read more

Traveling across I-40, this Maverik station has become one of our go-to spots. You can usually rely on Maverik having clean restrooms and good service. This one is no exception. In fact, in our half dozen visits, we've caught them cleaning the restrooms TWICE while we were there. Excellent! We don't mind waiting. There is quite a large selection of drinks, snacks, and prepared foods. Even when we were there in the middle of the night, they were open (24 hours a day, 365 days a year), and still had items to choose from. One thing in particular we love is the self checkout. You simply ring up your items in the scanner, just like at a grocery store, pay and leave. Simple, quick, and absolutely fanTAStic! Gas prices are very reasonable, especially for an off-the-highway location. Maverik has their own loyalty rewards club card which accrues "points" which you can use for free items and discounts on gasoline. It works great, and I've used it at multiple locations across the country. This location is big, with many, many gas pumps serving up all your favorites , and the store itself is also large. Even when you see all the cars outside, it doesn't feel "busy" inside, since there's plenty of space for everyone to move around. Our next road trip, we will be sure to stop here. Clean and appealing outside, with grassy facilities for your 4-legged friends. Inside is equally clean, and most importantly, the bathrooms are well taken care of. This fuel stop has gone down hill!!!! I used to look forward to this stop but now they won't even give you water for horses. I went into the men's room to use the restroom and women were walking in and using the men's room. I told the manager about it and they said they were almost done. WTH is wrong with this place. We always stop here ; easy in and out with our Class A. They have a few fresh lunch/snack items that are decent for a Quick market, Some rock landscape for dog walking, clean restrooms and pleasant staff and the LUVs up the road is .30 more a gal. read more

I'm a huge Maverick Gas Station fan but this location did not live up to the standards I have previously experienced at other locations. I will give the cashier credit for dealing with a large crowd and no other employees in sight. I can't even say they were busy elsewhere in the store because bathrooms were not Maverik standards and trash cans were all full. Maybe it was a bad night. read more

Thanks for wearing a mask and having decent gas prices. However, the restrooms are a MESS! Trash is overflowing, no toilet paper and the floor in the men's room is wet/nasty. Very disappointing! Good Morning stop for fuel. And price was good. Place was busy on the car side. And about 3/4 full on truck side. Did have to go around for a second pass at the truck pumps. Didn't realize two islands nearest building didn't have a pony pump for the passenger side fuel tank. Grabbed a breakfast burrito, which was very good and large. They also have a made to order counter. But the grab and go worked well to get back on the road. read more

The reason I give this Maverik five stars is because the advertised price is actually the PRICE you get for the gas. Often times, you go to a low price gas station and then you pay with a credit card and they upped the price. Good job Maverick. This is a clean, new, convenience market and gas station, located right off I-40. Gas prices are "reasonable" for an interstate location and the convenience store has all the essentials a weary traveler might need (beverages, hot dogs, pizza...). You might want to be more adventurous and drive south into Holbrook. There are some older, smaller, locally owned mini-marts there. Maverik, however, is the bright and new choice in Holbrook. read more

The most disgusting bathrooms I have seen in a long as I can remember. Poop on the floor and toilet seats. No toilet paper except for the massive piles thrown all over the place since every trash can is full. The hand washing area was also filthy if you can imagine that. This place has a monopoly on gas/bathrooms when driving on I 40. Yet they continue to not enlarge, clean, hire clerks etc. You stand in lines to use the dirty bathroom, and pay. Always. They could be an oasis for road weary travelers and spend some of their profits on improvements. Get your gas here and go on down the road to McDonalds for bathrooms. Yuck. read more

The general store area is open, airy; the high interior walls filled with sand stone arches paintings, beautiful ! It showcases the magnificent Arizona landscape. The overhead sign before walking into wide service alley, says "Moon Room", cute n cheeky. The wide alley walls are plastered with green vegetation paintings, so vibrant and interesting. Don't use it for a bathroom break. Stalls didn't have TP. You could hear people asking each other. Mine had paper, but the container was off the wall and upside down. Paper all over the floors. They need to hire someone to look over the restrooms. If the bathroom was this bad how clean can the store be. In these times, this is an important issue! read more

Today I stopped at my local Maverick, #478, Holbrook, AZ. I stopped for a quick snack at the hot deli items. Upon checking out, I had the misfortune of meeting the worse cashier I have ever met. M, Brett was as dry as a piece of old toast. Absolutely no customer service skills at all. I felt as though I was a burden to him. No eye contact at all, M, Brett spent all his time looking at customers as they entered the store. I asked for cash back and was amazed at how M, Brett did not even have the courtesy to count back $15. I am amazed at how cashiers take no pride in basic customer service skills or pride in keeping a tidy cash register. The cash back I received was sloppy , not faced, crumpled, folded, etc... Maverick #478, I hope you re-education your employees as to what basic customer service skills are. I will most likely seek deli item snacks elsewhere. read more

I use to go there knowing I could get good deals now they are so full of them selves that they have raised the prices and are now one of the more expensive places to buy things. 5 to 7 dollars I can get a foot long at subway for cheaper not to mention it has many more toppings and is much fresher. read more

On a road trip with the hubs. Stopped in for gas and a lottery ticket. The line was 6 people deep and only one guy behind the counter. There were two other female employees gossiping in the corner and didn't seem to care that there were customers to be waited on. One of them finally decided to step behind the counter and help out, but apparently only between bites of her lunch she was eating back there as well. Neither employee smiled or said hello or goodbye or offered any customer service whatsoever. Needless to say my husband was done long before I was and was waiting for me when I finally walked out the door. Sadly, they will probably stay in business because they offer gas close to the freeway and obviously the owners don't care about anything else. Too bad. read more
