The cashier was so rude and I do t know why. She couldn't get my order right but I was polite in repeating it. She was very sharp and kept cutting me off. Then, my husband ordered and she kept cutting him off- then his burger came out wrong and she said they wouldn't correct it. When I asked for straws, she used both hands and motioned like someone directing traffic and kinda punctuated it with her hands. I asked why she was being so rude to me but she said she wasn't. While heading back from on Route 66 from a several week vacation, my wife and I stopped at the Dairy Queen in Holbrook Arizona and ordered some treats. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by some of the nicest people. They took our order and prepared some of the best treats we ever had at a DQ. My wife had a Banana Split and I had a Peanut Buster Parfait. Both items were great. The place was clean and we were glad we came in. Hopefully someday we will return. read more

Nice little Dq in holbrook right off the hwy...dining room is a bit run down......All young people behind the counter. I ordered the chicken strip $7 meal deal 4 chicken strips...fries...a sundae and a drink....My order arrived in pieces (pic) I politely asked them what happened what is with this its all in pieces? The young clueless kid said umm yeah so what do you want? I guess I will redo it.....he just went in the back rearranged the pieces came back smiling along with the other 4 workers like they possibly did something or was just laughing at my expense. Delicious blizzard (ice cream). Rating is for the ice cream. Not the food. Got the cotton candy and it was like sugar rocks and bits of chocolate inside vanilla ice cream. Got the bacon ranch sandwich and chicken sandwich. Both were 2 stars. Didn't care for it. The bacon ranch came with a ciabatta like bread but a little rough and it was moist with the dressing. We stopped here last month, woman at the window was nice, but guy working there brought our food out and yelled at us for not parking closer, we thought we were supposed to park by the back parking lot and he wanted us to park by the door. Given limited choices and limited time I opted for a burger at DQ over the more ubiquitous chains in Holbrook. The burger was OK. Probably better than something I would have gotten from McDonald's. At least my food was made to order and not sitting under a heat lamp waiting for some poor soul to want after it. We're staying in Holbrook while visiting the Petrified Forest National Park. What a happy surprise that there was a Dairy Queen Grill and Chill right down the road from our hotel. After a day a hiking, we were excited for a DQ treat. The DQ employees were SO nice! The cashier was so incredibly pleasant. The person that brought our food out made sure we were all set. They were a bit slow on service and the line for the drive thru uses the actual street. Once we placed our order we were directed to drive around back and wait by the dumpster for our food. Then another car had to do the same, then another. All of this is pretty much out of their control though (other than the slow ticket times) so four stars because our order was correct and freshly made. My family and I have frequented this location on many trips; not anymore. Today my parents experienced rude customer service and an incorrect order. I've let them slide on incorrect orders on several occasions; this was the last straw. How difficult is it to make a basic hamburger with no mustard? It's obviously rocket-science because it cannot be done by the employees at this location. Well after about 6 years since my last review, I have finally made it back to Holbrook and wanted to go back to this DQ for old times sake. The first time I only gave one star because they didn't have cookie dough for a blizzard but the staff was nice, but this time they did have the cookie dough for my blizzard. If you couple that with a good chicken strip sandwich it was worth it on the road trip from Phoenix back to Iowa. I would recommend eating here if you are in the mood for some DQ! read more

As far as smalltown DQs go, this one isn't bad. Clean restrooms and friendly staff with the full DQ menu including food (not just ice cream). There is a drive-thru along with ample seating inside. If you need a food ice cream and/or bathroom fix, worth the stop off I-40. Right across from a gas station so if you need to fuel up as well, two birds. read more

This is a very cool old-school Dairy Queen with a classic Dairy Queen sign that the local population fought to keep. The staff were friendly and nice and did the things that we wanted we had strawberry chocolate chip blizzards that they put together by putting a little dip sauce in the blizzard, in other words they didn't freak out about the request. So it has everything you would want in a Dairy Queen including it drive-thru, plus the nice things that you have had a great Dairy Queen. it's easy on and off from I-40 so if you're hot going through the desert or if you have a taste for ice cream it's an easy stop. And if you go at night you got to get a picture of the classic sign. read more

Whether I'm coming up from the south or driving along I-40, this Dairy Queen is a waypoint and, usually, a stop for me. Certainly, when there's a line, the service will be slow but this place has all the best Blizzards and has been for me a great way to split up a long road trip through the desert. I stopped here after seeing a promotion on tv for a hamburger and mini blizzard for $4. After inquiring about this, the cashiers told me participating locations only, and they were not one, which means the cost to get these two items I came in for would be over $8. So I did not order anything. There were also children running back and forth yelling, between the customer seating and the kitchen/ordering area. This place seems more like a dysfunctional day care center than a place where you would trust people to make your food. I've found the service at the Burger King and the McDonald's down the street to be much better. read more

The place is an older Dairy Queen, the classic sign on the roof shows that. I respect that, and I can understand that the place has definitely been run down over the decades without any real renovations. The problems lie with the somewhat vacant and befuddled staff. Oh, they were very polite and nice. But they seemed in another world, wondering around unsure of the reality they existed in. It took a considerable while to get our orders taken, and even longer as they seemingly discovered that food was in their store and then discovered how to prepare it. When we returned for desert, the entire staff was standing in the corner and then all walked into a back room, leaving us there by ourselves. Eventually a man in a wife beater came up and made us some ice cream. I'm not convinced he was actually an employee. The food itself was not terrible, but certainly substandard. This was the worst DQ experience I have ever had. The two young men employees were not wearing masks as they handled food, in the midst of the Covid-19 epidemic, in one of the major hotspots in the country. One man, taking 15 minutes to deliver the order, kept putting his head out the window, talking vigorously to that customer. Below the window was a large shelf which no doubt received all the droplets and aerosols from his mouth. It was disgusting and infuriating to watch. His customer was wearing a mask; my husband and I in the next car were wearing masks. We asked him and the other employee why they were not wearing masks. They said they did not have to. If this was the message of their boss, this is in violation of Arizona law. If this was their interpretation of AZ law, they were wrong. We were so appalled (after waiting for 15 minutes and all the social interactions between the employees and their customer) that we couldn't stomach getting any food or DQ from them. Very disappointing, I've never had bad Dairy Queen before. The man who appeared to be the manager was very friendly, however he seemed to be running things alone.
