All starts go to the amazing customer service guy in the front. Tire rotation job was completely blotched: whomever did it, did not rotate tires, just switched them from one place to another. So, if they don't know how to rotate tires (or rather, don't care), I am not sure how can I trust them with other issues (e.g. how do I know that the same clueless technician really put full synthetic oil in my car and not something cheaper, just because he felt like it). I will never return. If you are in NJ, I highly recommend Tire King in Sussex and Mavis in Franklin instead. read more

I called and made an appointment to mount and balance four new tires two days ahead. They assured me the tires would be there and set the appointment for 1:00 pm on Friday. I arrived at 1:00 pm and was told they had no information on me or my car, just the appointment. I then proceeded to wait two hours before my car even made it inside the shop. They then opened the hood (for a tire change?) and I waited another thirty minutes before being called into the shop to be informed that they had "a minus four" inventory on the tires I had hoped to buy. I was offered other inferior brands as a substitute. Best thing I could do was just get my keys and leave. These clowns wasted my afternoon. The dolt I perceived to be the manager was totally uninvolved. PS: I went to Wal*Mart auto service center right down the road. Walked in cold off the street and had four tires mounted and balanced in about an hour, for less money. Mavis; never again. Customer service IS important. read more

I went for an oil change and 2 replace 2 front tires on a company fleet vehicle. Got there just after 9 a.m. At 4 p.m., my truck was still in the same place that I parked it at 9. The manager said that 2 techs called out and that they probably might not get to it. What if I never asked at 4? Would I have sat there til 6 then turned away? A disgruntled tech was in the garage kicking stuff in anger. The manager at the desk laughed it off, saying that's why he doesn't have the desk job. I asked for my key and left after wasting an entire day and no work getting done. She told me to bring it back in the morning. I will never make that mistake again. People that were there at 9 when I got there were still waiting at 4 also. read more

Untrustworthy. Had a tire leaking air on a Sunday, so I went to Mavis as they are open. I called ahead of time and left my car there because they were busy. I was grateful they were able to fit my car in since it was last minute. A half hour before they close, I'm getting in the car with my husband to go pick it up when they call me to tell me that the APM sensor was broken and taking around in the tire when they went to check it, it was a $90 part and they would pick it up in 5 minutes. This made no sense to me because my husband had topped off the air before we dropped it off and there were no lights on in the car when I pulled in. I put him on speaker and told him not to put a new sensor on my car and that we would be right there. I looked it up on the drive- that post is often broken when the tires are removed and if a new sensor needed to be put on, it would have to be reconnected for another fee that usually costs another $100- funny they hadn't mentioned that. I walk in with my husband trailing behind me and low and behold, my broken sensor was never really broken - he explained that the guy didn't realize that it was a 2 piece sensor. Good. They pull my car out and then jump out because they forgot to top the air off all of the tires. As the guy is finishing that I notice a part fell out of his pocket. Wouldn't you know, it's an intact, used APM sensor. When I went to pay, I was told that if I promised to leave a 5 star review it would be free. I told the man I would pay for the work they did and paid my $27 bill. I don't appreciate any business who thinks they can scam and take advantage of people. read more

If you think you're getting a discount because the word "Discount" is in the name of the business , Mavis Discount Tire, think again. I've learned the hard way that they will low ball the price of tires, then after the quote add $6.99 for each new tire valve/stems (+$27.96) that should be included in the price of the new tires. Then they add $14.00 per tire (+$56.00) for balancing the tires. Then they charge a whopping $89.99 for a suspect wheel alignment. There is a tire recycling fee of course. A friend told me he purchased new tires from one Mavis location and had a second wheel alignment from another Mavis location and a third Mavis location assistant manager told him the tires were worn prematurely because the wheel alignment at the second Mavis location wasn't done correctly! So who do you believe? I can't believe how many dissatisfied customers come in complaining about automotive repairs. Who in their right mind would bring their vehicle to a discount tire shop for automotive repairs? You should count yourself lucky if they can mount, pressurize, balance and align new tires correctly. You go to certified auto mechanics for repairs, not a volume discount tire store. Contacting corporate is a big waste of time. The corporate customer service representative will tell you that a Regional Manager is going to contact you. Instead you receive a call from an assistant manager who will tell you the automotive technician who worked on your vehicle no longer works there. Then the assistant manager will tell you again that the Regional Manager will contact you. Don't hold your breath waiting for that call. I've made up my mind. I will purchase all new tires for any of my vehicles from a local reputable well established Tire Store where the price of the tires include new tire valve/stems, computer balancing and a quality wheel alignment and you are not nickel and dimed. It might cost a few dollars more, but brother it will save you whole lot more in grief down the road. After being disappointed.buying tires at Mavis in Warwick ny, I went in early in the morning and they took 6 hours to do my tires, service sucked, and they tried to talk me into different tires. But the price is good. So this time I tried a different mavis in Middletown ny and I made a reservation at 10 am I was getting Michelin at a good price ( they need to do do special balancing at $20 a tire, lol) so I asked when I got there at 9:45 How long it will be I was going to walk to the mall they told me 1.5 hours. I got my jacket and stuff and went and asked if I should leave the keys in the car, (different person) he said no it won't get inside the shop for 1 to 2 hours and then they need to do the work. (4 plus hours) I asked why I needed to make a reservation? He laughed and said that is just to get in the door!,! This company could give me 4 tires, I will never use them again!! Very poor business not honest, rude. I would rather give my $ 1000.00 every 2 years to a small local company that appreciates my business, rather pay a Car dealer. read more

I ordered snow tires and made an appointment using their online system. They called me to confirm that appointment and had no record of the tires being ordered, and wrong details about the appointment. I reconfirmed the order for the tires on the phone, which they confirmed would be delivered the next day - and made an appt for 2 days later. When i arrived they said my appointment was for an alignment, and that the tire order was cancelled. They said those tires werent available anymore, and wouldnt honor the price. This last time they literally went the extra mile to make sure my car would be fixed on time for my daughter to take it to college the next day. I went to Mavis Tire in Matamoras PA to have my tires replaced. They called me into the shop to see the worn tires and told me I needed new struts. I asked how much that would be and I was told around $800 but they would call around to get prices. Later I was told Hyundai didn't file the patent for the 2017 Tucson struts so they would have to get them directly from Hyundai. The price was now $1740 plus tax. I asked how many days it would take to get the parts in and was told they have a call out to Hyundai and will let me know. They didn't have the delivery info before my car was done so I paid for the tires and alignment and left. A couple days later I hadn't heard back so I called Mavis Tire and was told by that person that he would have the customer service agent who worked with me give me a call. A week passed and I did not hear back from her. This seemed very strange to me so I scheduled my Tucson to be checked out by a Hyundai service center. They told me the struts and shocks were fine and did not need to be replaced. So basically Mavis Tire was trying to fleece me for repairs that did not need to be done. read more

I gave 1 star because I was not given the option to give NO STARS. Do not bring your car to get serviced at this place. As soon as you get quoted and they convince you to get the work done with a good price, at the end of your transaction they make you sign and don't read out the fine print. Furthermore they talk you into a warranty and Later on when you encounter a problem, your warranty is voided. I brought my car here for 4 new tires and was told that my car did not need an alignment with it, just rotation on the tires. Less than a year later, I take my car to get serviced at the dealership and I am told that my tires are all worn out. I took it back to Mavis in Matamoras, PA and explained to the manager that because of the alignment not being offered, my tires wore out before the 40,000 miles. Long story short, they made 101 excuses on why they could not acknowledge the warranty. Terrible management and horrible service. Avoid at all costs! read more

I have been a Mavis customer for over a decade, in Long Island and Brooklyn and I have NEVER been more disgusted with the customer service than this one in Matamoras, PA. They never seem to have time to do anything, they always advise me to "come back tomorrow". Imagine I have been going to them for 3 months (once a week or so) to get a wheel balance, that is crazy, the lady (manager) is always smoking outside and when the other young manager always want to make you a deal. I have had it totally with them, I will now go to Sears in Pennsylvania for tire work or Mavis in New Jersey. Imagine that I went to the Matamoras, PA branch to have my flex pipe fixed on Friday last and the manager ask if I can leave my vehicle for the weekend so he can start on it on Monday morning, this branch really need to have new managers. Go to Jack Williams or Kost right down the road, this Mavis is not helpful. read more

The manager Rob is an asset to the customers and this business. He is friendly honest and trustworthy. I went there knowing what my car needs. As a woman most shops try and take advantage and sell many unneeded things. I have worked in this industry for years and know my vehicles but I do not let that be known until I have to. I knew I need an alignment and rotors. Went just asking for the alignment. Car was checked over completely and they advised me that I needed rotors which also means brake pads. They took me to show me the work and rusted rotors and answered all my questions. Good me the fears were not as bad as the fronts and could wait a while if I wanted but I decided to have all the work done at the same time. I was in and out in less than 3 hours for work that other places I have had to leave my vehicle for the whole day. Was well worth the your I drove to go to the right person. read more

DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE !!! I brought my 2007 Toyota Avalon here for a wheel alignment and it started as a subtle knocking noise in the rear and shortly thereafter while on a major highway my whole car started swaying really bad. I was near the car dealership which does all of the work on the car (except alignment) and stopped in and they put the car on the lift. The service tech came out and asked if I had anything done with alignment recently. Told him yes and he said that the both the left rear tie rod arm and the left front tie arm adjuster were left loose and they are now stripped. I COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED DRIVING THIS CAR !!!!! They repaired my car and I immediately went to Mavis. Store mgr told me I should have brought the car back to them and I explained how the car was not safe to drive and he made more reasons why I should have come back.I was not aware when I brought the car in to dealer that was even the problem. He took pics of the damaged parts and said that District manager would be in touch.Said if I came back to them they would have only charged a couple of hundred dollars to repair. I dont think so, they damaged my car and I should pay nothing and should be reimbursed for their cost and my repair cost for their incompetency. No one has called me and the numerous attempts to contact him have resulted in customer service lady saying that she would not give her last name and was not able to give me the District Mgr phone #. This is just not acceptable business practice. The public should be made aware that they are not reputable and you cant trust that what you are paying for is getting done properly. Never again. Everyone I know and then some have been told to pass on . My car was unsafe because of their wrongdoing. I will go to dealership now for future alignments. read more

I was very pleased with old mgr. but def. not new one. She spends most of the time talking with other customers and the staff is either outside on a smoke break or lunch break. I went in for a rotation of tires I bought there...cost 900.00 for set of 4. I called first and was told they don't give appointments for a tire rotation...they always did with the old mgr. I went in and was only 1 car ahead of me so lady mgr. said I could wait...shouldn't take long. I waited nearly two hours!!! Why, because after the one car ahead of me was taken, two people went out to lunch at the same time and a third on a smoke break. I was only one left in waiting room and when finally done, I drove away and got 100 ft. to find the front of the car wobbling. Yea, the right front tire never got the lugs tightened down at all!! I drove back and the person who rotated the tires apologized and tightened the tire and checked the other three. If I didn't buy the tires there, I'd never go back as they give free tire rotation. I will go back to purchase future tires at Jack Daniels up the road. The old mgr. was excellent...knowledgeable and attentive. I'd bought 3 sets of tires from Mavis over the years for 2 cars. Brought my car in to have a rim replaced on car. I did not purchase rim from this shop. Only went to have old rim taken off and new one put on existing tire. The Manager said there would be a wait so my wife and I waited outside. The Manager John came out and took the new rim out of truck and brought in into the garage and laced it on eht e floor and took our car keys. While it was on the floor one of the mechanics pulled another car into the garage and came close to hitting the new rim. My wife noticed this and asked for the rim to be returned to our trunk. One of the mechanics passed the rim to her which was heavy as my wife is 70 years old. A few minutes later another mechanic came out and got into our car and proceeded to drive the car into the garage. My wife wasn't able to get her pocketbook out of the car and it remained in the vehicle inside the garage. When it was realized my wife called into the garage which was open and stated that she had left her purse in the car and said I need my purse. The mechanic that was NOT doing the job on the car, Michael, said: Well, you're going to have to ask a lot nicer to get it. My wife was taken back by the attitude of this kid and the lack of respect. He did not give her the purse and she proceeded to go into the store and asked the person at the desk to please get her purchase out of the floor of the front seat. She mentioned what this rude kid had said and he had no response but retrieved her purse. I regret ever bringing my car there and I should have just asked for my keys and taken my car to another shop. When we paid for the job and my wife was asked by the same person at the desk, John, to complete the survey and give the shop 5 stars, she indicated that would be impossible because of the way she was treated, she then repeated what the mechanic had said to her and he said well he must of been joking...what else could he say, certainly didn't apologize nor was the kid anywhere to be found. It was not a job but just arrogant and lack of respect - abusive. I have every intention of contacting corporate headquarters and sharing this experience with them....they will certainly never get my business again and I will take every opportunity to share this experience with anyone that asks about this Mavis shop in Matamoras...... read more
