After evaluating my Ford I was told that there was a Technical Bulletin that came out from Ford several years ago. I am impressed that they did the research to evaluate my car. They told me I did NOT NEED A TRANSMISSION. I only needed an update on the vehicle computer. Here's the numbers. Ford wanted $3500 for a rebuilt transmission. A new transmission was $6000. Final cost at Scotty's $150 to evaluate $250 to upload the new software Total $400.00 Can't say enough good things about this place. Talk about trusting a Mecanic!!! Calipers, brake pads, power steering rack (wtf? to pass inspection? um yeah ok) etc. When they finally gave me an estimate it was almost $2000 lol. The car is not even worth that much. The next day I took it to another mechanic, it passed, I paid $40 and walked out with a shiny new sticker, all in under 20 minutes. Ray's went a little overboard with their scamming attempt. I probably would have bought an estimate of, say, $500. I might have even believed them and had the work done. TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS though? On a car worth half that? LMAO. They aren't the brightest at Ray's I guess. I mean, I understand that Billybob the mechanic needs to replace 20 of his teeth and Bertha the receptionist needs a new MAGA hat, but $2000 is a little....on the nose. Ray's needs to learn how to scam a little more subtly, a new tire here, a new caliper there, but nope, Ray's wanted to go large with me lol. I also overheard the manager/owner mention that $120 for a 20 mile tow was a "tiny, bullsh*t" charge (his words, I was in earshot) and that the main goal was to get the customers car into the shop. The waiting area is also freezing cold, the receptionist was wearing a heavy winter coat (camo of course) behind the desk. If you DO decide to go here, dress in dirty camo and Carhartt, anything nicer will make them think you're a millionaire city slicker who needs to be fleeced of their money. These guys are straight up hillbilly criminals and they are too stupid to even scam properly lmao.

They take advantage of customers who aren't knowledgeable about cars, double charge for work they previously did incorrectly, offer no explanations for charges prior to billing, attempt to perform work unrelated to the primary issue the vehicle is brought in, order unnecessary expensive parts when more affordable ones are readily available, and care nothing about their customer's budget. If you have a small fortune you're looking to spend, put it to some better use by setting a match to it instead.

Apparently they only changed one, because the other went 1 month later, I was told it was never changed by a new mechanic. Also, my BRAND NEW snows were badly worn on the outside passenger side, which means they either didn't do the alignment at all, or was WAY out of spec. Now I am out the full cost of a half-assed job, 2 snow tires AND the cost of someone else doing the proper repair. I absolutely abhore places like these.
