I went into Scotty's thinking my 2006 ford needed a transmission. This was based on an evaluation from a Ford dealership. After evaluating my Ford I was told that there was a Technical Bulletin that came out from Ford several years ago. I am impressed that they did the research to evaluate my car. They told me I did NOT NEED A TRANSMISSION. I only needed an update on the vehicle computer. Here's the numbers. Ford wanted $3500 for a rebuilt transmission. A new transmission was $6000. Final cost at Scotty's $150 to evaluate $250 to upload the new software Total $400.00 Can't say enough good things about this place. Talk about trusting a Mecanic!!! Was at a friend's property and realized I picked up a screw in my tire. Tire pressure was low but I knew Scotty's was a few miles away and went there for a plug. Due to preexisting damage to my rim, they didn't think the tire would seal properly so I could make my 70 mile trip back home. They put my spare on and told me "no charge" for their services. I was looking for a mechanic close by and called Scotty's to ask how much a brake job would cost for my Ford F-150. I told her I needed full brake job including rotors. Ann said they couldn't give me a price they would have to see the truck [should have been my first red flag] Now I am not an ignorant consumer, I always go on Ford.com to price out the parts before I get an estimate. The parts on Ford.com were $641.00. I also called Wayne County Ford and was told ballpark of $900 including labor. I was astonished when Meghan called me with their estimate and said it would be $2000.00! I told her absolutly not, picked up my truck and went the next morning to Wayne County Ford and got my brakes for $920 including a tire rotation and all taxes!! Avoid this place at all costs. The owner is extremely rude and doesn't honor appointments. Went a couple weeks ago and dropped off my Nissan and the guy couldn't have been more rude. Left car there for a couple days and finally called called to check on progress. He acted like he didn't know who I was and didn't know anything about my car. I then went back to the shop and asked in person when it would be ready and he said they've been too busy and he didn't know when then can get to it. No apology, no nothing. I started asking him about the situation and he just ignored me and went back to the garage as I was still asking him questions. I have used their services a handful of times over the years and while he's never been friendly, they have always done good work so that's all I really cared about. I had to rearrange my schedule for 2 days for a simple brake job and new thermometer and he never even looked at my car. read more

Since my son (a master Auto Mechanic, and Camaro fiend) is no longer here to fix or modify our cars, I trust Scotty's to keep our vehicles running to top peak performance! When the dealer failed (2x's) to fix an issue, Scotty's got it done! Patiently worked alongside with my insurance company to get the issue taken care of right, the 1st time! Safe to say, Scotty's knows what they are doing! With a smile and his charming wit, Kane asked me, "Do You want to keep it going until the wheels fall off or until it dies?" I laughed and I said, "Keep it going until I get buried in it!" Everything from oil & trans fluid changes, to new tires, rotating tires, keeping up on maintenance is a major owner responsibility, with any performance car, but when the car was the payout in your child's crash and death, You take it even more seriously, to care for your vehicle-and having a trusted, educated Mechanic is a major key...and I TRUST them, completely! So, this car is no 'ordinary' vehicle. Looking at a car everyday and knowing that when I have to hand the keys over and trust that a Mechanic will treat your car as if it is your family member and keeping a loved one's memory alive, believe it when I say, I can honestly hand the keys to Kane and walk out knowing, they know what they are doing, have taken the safety of our family seriously. Even when I ask questions about modifications or adding a governor, so when my youngest son takes over the car next year, Kane, Scotty, everyone there, are always waiting with a smile and says, they can't wait to see what I want done next! AUGUST 2020 - I recently picked up a Toyota 4Runner that has been in the family for nearly 2 decades - came to Scotty's based off of Google recommendations for synthetic oil change and tire rotation. Once again, I had a problem with my tire sensor going off en route from NYC to the Poconos. Luckily for me, I was within driving distance of Scotty's and headed over there. Hey fellow yelpers! I NEVER write reviews for no one. ( Even though read ya'll reviews regularly, thank you very much :)) But these guys at Scotty's truly deserve a 5 star review ( and probably a raise ) as they seriously outdo themselves. First of all they are a sheer delight to deal with. Starting with the front desk receptionist Sarah and then foreman Jerry, and technician Chris, they are all very pleasant. As we say in Brooklyn "they good people". One can truly feel and see their genuine desire to help you in any way possible. Plus the whole atmosphere of the place is very "family-like". You can even bring your kids for unlimited supply of lollipops and endless cartoons if you like. It's all good. As the car needed to be left in the shop for diagnostics and I had no other means of transportation they gave me a 40 min. FREE RIDE home and back!!!!!! Moreover, when the next day I refused to fix the car (because the cost of repairs exceeded the worth of the car) they still were very amiable without a shadow of disappointment or dissatisfaction with my decision. They absolutely supported my choice even though it took them a whole day of work to diagnose the problem. All in all I wholeheartedly recommend Scotty's. They are honest, reliable and truly kind people. I'd give them more stars if I could. They deserve them. PS. Several days later I received a postcard thanking me for choosing Scotty's services. No nonsense style. Comfortable waiting room. My 10yr old Subaru needed a catalytic converter. Scotty's was able to do it for 1/2 the price that I was quoted at the dealership! They ordered and replaced the tires too. They had no problem showing me the new parts they were using. Plus they offer the NAPA Easypay card so I can pay the cost of the repair over 6months, interest free! This card also extended the warranty on the repair to 3yrs/36,000 miles. (The dealership only offers a 1 year warranty) I am extremely happy with the service, and will add to my review if there are any changes. Give them a try! read more

Scott Bryce provided quick service and quality repairs on my wife's Buick. The brakes failed on a Friday afternoon we limped into Scotty's disparate to get our car back in running condition again. Scott quickly diagnosed the problems, ordered the parts & promised the car would be ready the following Monday. Sure enough by 4:00 Monday he called to tell us the car was ready. His operation is extremely professional. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a followup call from Scott to make sure everything was working properly. While in Montague on a Saturday morning my vehicle became disabled, AAA was called for a tow, the problem was I lived 70 miles away. I asked the tow operator if he could recommend someone close by to diagnose the problem. Without hesitation he recommended Scotty's. The vehicle was towed to Scotty's. The shop diagnosed the problem explained all repairs and cost, once I gave the ok to start repairs the shop kept me informed of progress. While living 70 miles away using Scotty's as my go to automotive shop isn't practical I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area read more

A good friend had his son take his SUV to Soctty's and while there was informed that a ball joint boot was torn. When he got home his Dad checked and found the boot was missing along with the cotter pin that held the castlelated nut in place. Further, he also found the nut had been loosened. He had been told 4 years earlier that he needed upper and lower ball joints which he replaced himself some 4 months earlier, and at that time found that only one ball joint was "bad".! Guess they didnt like the idea of him doing his own work which with over 50 years experience as a mechanic, shop foreman, service manager, and design engineer along with having taught automotive and heavy truck programs makes him extremely well qualified to make his own repairs. What is truly disappointing is that he has sent many people and brought a great deal of business to this shop. but they seem to be more interested in making a buck on unsuspecting people than being honest. And he also has photos showing what was found! read more
