Unfortunately, the lowest rating you can give this place is one star. If I had the option, it would be 0 or -1. I completed the survey and review, but Mavis took my review down. Let me say this was one of the worst experiences I have had dealing with an auto repair company. I understand this is located in NEPA, but there's no need to be so condescending to women. I was treated with disrespect, was patronized, and was made fun of in front of their colleagues by a man with dirt under his fingernails. He went so far as to say "maybe you can check the local Jaguar dealerships". He and I both know there's no Jaguar dealership in Luzerne County. But he thought it was a nice joke to make in front of his colleagues. I'm a professional and I treat people with respect. But the things he said to me were so ridiculous and overtly condescending that even my boyfriend privately said that he heard exactly what upset me. I refused to accept the charges that were given to me and their 'scare tactics'. My boyfriend agreed to pay for the fees because I knew I was being ripped off and after being treated with such blatent misogyny, I couldn't in good faith give my money to this company. I refused to even go in to pick up my car. I have never been treated this poorly by a group of men in my life. That is saying a lot. Trust me, if you are a woman, you do not want to deal with this group. But if they treat women this poorly, I am sure they treat men this poorly too. A Mavis Discount Tire mechanic originally installed the wrong tires on my vehicle rims, then was directed to remove them only to mount the correct set of tires the wrong rotation direction and then reinstall them in the proper rotation direction. Finally, the same mechanic failed to install my custom color valve stem caps. Total time invested at Mavis after all the mistakes was 1 hour and 20 minutes for what was supposed to be the simple mounting and installation of two tires. read more

After my post informing the Yelp community how terrible an experience we had at the Pittston By/pass location. The "Business owner" responded and asked me to contact their customer solutions department so they could speak with me (see screenshot). Three attempts later I was never connected to them once, the mush-mouth young woman who answered two of the three times wasn't understandable whatsoever, and ultimately I was hung up on all three times after being transferred around for 10 to 15 minutes each time I called. Unless you enjoy being misled DO NOT go to Mavis Tire in Pittston. They tried to charge me for replacing front struts and rear brakes to pass inspection. Price for these "services" would have been $1300.00 plus tax. Went to another local garage where my suspicions were confirmed: struts are fine, brakes are fine, passed inspection with a couple of other repairs at a fraction of what Mavis was charging. I don't mind paying for needed work, but, c'mon, how do they get away with this nonsense? if I could get this place zero I would, the manager is a joke I brought my mother's car there the beginning of summer to get four brand new tires put on alignment and an inspection. They told me rear hubs were bad. I replaced them before I got the tires and the alignment she goes in for her tire rotation at the 10,000 mark and wires are showing and now all the sudden they inspected my mother's car safety inspection and put new tires on it and an alignment and here to find out the car was never safe. They just denied her her warranty because she has bad tie rods or had her tie rod changed which they're still stock Mavis higher did this to a 60-year-old woman all of you guys should lose your job. And Mavis if you see this, you need new management in the shop and Tunkhannock. I have plenty of management skill. I'll clean these places up for you and get rid of all this riffraff. The full review I prepared is apparently too long to post, so I will spare some of the details. My wheels started to wiggle/vibrate, so I took the car to Mavis. Over the course of 87 days, they sold me 4 new tires, mount and balance, a rebalance, 2 wheel alignments, and 4 valve-stem TPMS sensors. They also had me replace my front lower control arms and an outer tie rod end. i spent well over $1000 and the vibration never went away. I just took my car to a different garage, and they found the issue in ten minutes. My car had an older style TPMS sensor which is mounted around the rim and under the tire. Mine was snapped. The Mavis guy mounted my tire over it anyways. No wonder my wheels couldn't get properly balanced - I had a few pounds of metal rolling around inside my tire. On top of that, NONE of my wheels have valve stem TPMS sensors in them - which Mavis charged me for. I also took my car there for an inspection the one day, and they told me I failed because my inside driver's door handle didn't work. That was weird, because it worked fine when I dropped it off. I said I'd do the work myself and picked the car up immediate. The door handle worked just fine. They made it up to make a buck off of me. They also racked up 30 miles on my Mustang's odometer, and on my bill my "in" and "out" milages were identical... and 30 miles higher than when I dropped off the car. Overall I spent over $1000, nearly three months of my time, had my car taken for a joy ride, had broken parts left inside of my tire, got lied to about working parts being broken, didn't even receive some of the parts that I paid for, and was charged for multiple mounts/balances/alignments; all without resolving my vibrating wheels. I have never had worse service (on my car or otherwise) in my entire life. If you're having an issue with your car and decide to go to Mavis, you might as well just write down your social security number and bank account information when you show up. It will make their job (of milking you for every penny you have) a lot easier. read more

Terrible rip off artists! Took my car in for emissions, oil change and inspection! They called and said I needed brakes and rotors on all four wheels to pass inspection! I told them no and picked up the car! Then I saw they had not put the emissions sticker on my car that they charged me for so I went back! The manager Bill told me it was my fault because they were waiting for me to call them back wait huh? So I said if you didn't do it why did you charge me for it? He then said I'm going to do it now! Really WTH? So I decided to take my car to Kevin's auto repair in swoyersville, pa instead. They told me I needed my oil changed and a fog light was out to pass inspection! No brakes pads, no rotors! So come to find out the oil change that Mavis charged me for they did not do that either these people are crooks! Stay away from these people! read more

Took truck in to replace tires that wad rated at 70000 miles and only got 24k out of. I git tires rotated every 5500 at their store and they would not honor pro rate. Said tire is not worn perfectly even. Also alignment was spot on. Store associate was very nice and felt bad he couldn't honor so called warranty. Do I have to give a star??? $1,800 or $550???? My son took his car to Mavis in Pittston, PA, for an oil change, tires, and inspection. They did the oil change, told him he needed new tires (Which he knew), new struts, and he would owe $1,800!!!!!! He called me, we said, "DON'T DO IT!" Today a blond, short haired, abrasive female at customer service lost my business. After visibly going through a 45 minute hassle to get a picture of my insurance id on my phone. She would not accept my registration on my phone. I asked if I could simply email it to the store and she can print it. She said "no way". I said -"you're seriously going to make me go all the way home to print this??" When I asked her to scan the barcode anyway, she refused and got attitude. I brought my car here about 4 weeks ago for an inspection. After dropping it off I got a call about 20 minutes later from Bill who said my car would not pass and that I needed struts, bushings, tires, and an alignment as well as electrical issues because my horn did not work after telling him I believe it is just the fuse. He said that my tires were put on wrong and I replied the tires were put on here. Bill replied we can't account for bad parts, I stated I got the parts here as well as a warranty with the tires. Bill then stated we can't account for a bad driving. I got a quote of almost $4000 to fix everything he said was wrong. After taking it to the dealership because I did not believe him, Howe thought there might be electric issues . The dealership told me there was absolutely nothing wrong every single thing on my car passed inspection even the tires and that the only thing wrong with the horn was they had to replace a fuse which they did for free. I asked Toyota about the struts, alignment, bushings, electrical issues and Toyota said everything was fine. Long story short instead of spending $4000 I spent about 50 bucks and I WILL NEVER USE MAVIS FOR ANYTHING AGAIN!!!!! read more

Be careful of pricing, I was told that they could beat Kost Tire by 4 dollars a tire for same name brand but after I asked what the total cost would be, they add on for mounting and balancing, disposal and other charges (ended up being 20 more a tire than Kost)....be very careful, they are more interested in selling (the sneaky way) than being mechanics. My son, who works in he medical field as an essential worker, took his car in for an inspection. Later in the day he gets a call stating that he needed a complete brake job including calipers and the total would be $1200!! I asked him to wait until I got there. Upon my arrival, I asked to see the parts that were removed. Instead of getting the parts, Bill comes out and starts clicking off on the keyboard while we were standing there. No hello, what's the problem, nothing! When he finally stops hitting the keys, he says the total is $725! I say show me the parts! he goes back and scrounges up a bunch of parts to show me. 1 of the 4 rotors was bad on the rear. OK. He could not locate the other rear, puts one good, usable front rotor off to the side and shows me some minor grooves in the other front rotor saying these won't pass. I said BS! I then asked what kind of a shop can"t "face off" brake rotor grooves? There is a minimum thickness stamped on rotors just for that reason! Then I asked about the "good" rotor off to the side. He responded by saying the car would "pull" if he left it. Again I said BS! He then says: you want me to take it back off?? NO! But you should definitely have taken it off the bill. I've been working on cars my entire life and am an FAA licensed aviation technician. New brake pads and rotors will cost about $200 from a parts store. This car is ten years old. Even with shop time, an oil change and an inspection, about $450. would be a fair price. These guys will rip you off for every cent they can! They feed on the unknowing and take advantage of anyone they think they can!! Especially during a pandemic when people are struggling! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MAVIS for anything!!! read more
