I've gotten a flat tire and got towed over to Mavis as I used Mavis in Point Pleasant for years for all of my car needs.. The new manager took a look at the car and called me.. basically said he was having a better day than I was, and said that the flat tire was not pluggable, and I had to buy four tires since the car was all-wheel-drive. I explained to him that I already purchased tires and I only needed one. He proceeded to tell me that they checked all my tires and they all need to be replaced and there was a piece of metal in one which nobody ever showed me.. so after arguing back-and-forth with this manager, who's telling me I have to purchase four tires or else I cannot get tires at Mavis. We settled on purchasing two tires. I explained to the gentleman that it just wasn't the time for me to be able to purchase four tires at once and he proceeded to try to sell me a warranty on the two tires I was purchasing. He was rude. He had no compassion and if I could've had my car towed somewhere else to buy the tires I would've but at that point I had already paid have a tow truck driver dropped the car off there. This manager also kind of laughed at me and told me that my brakes were 90% worn down. I immediately took my car somewhere else and my brakes were not 90% worn down so on top of everything they lied to me to get more business. The crackhead kids they have working here completely screwed up my bmw oil change by not doing s simple filter change, resulting in low oil pressure issues. It happened immediately after I dropped it off for s routine oil change. I'm going to get my money and back as I have proof from REAL mechanicthdt they used the wrong oil for my bmw. It requires O 50 and they used o 20. I will be taking legal action against them if they do not reimburse me for this glaring incompetence! read more

I asked for two front tires and to balance all four wheels. Also I asked the manager if they could get my ball hitch out of the mount because it was rusted in there tight . The "tech" was very confident he could remove the hitch ball. Although he was able to remove it by beating on it he lit the plastic above the mount on fire several times causing it to melt and deform. Then when the "tech" went to put all four wheels back on he broke six lug nuts off of three of the hubs. I had to get it towed by my tow company I use. They claimed it was the previous shop who did work on my truck last that tightened the lug nuts down too much causing them to break off. Even is that was remotely true why would the tech continue to use an air gun on all of the lug nuts after breaking the first one off. He kept going to see how many he could break. The service manager denied responsibility for the damage and said the repairs were on me. I wasn't going to argue with the manager or "tech" so I brought my truck to my shop who fixed the studs. Over $800 later took them all day to fix mavis damage. Why couldn't they offer to replace the studs there? I called corporate and the regional manager returned my call after a week and a half off me reaching out to the number provided here on the Yelp reply. I would give them zero stars if I could. This review is a long time coming. My fiance has brought her car to this place a couple times and I always thought it was a rip off. The last time she went there was in June to get an oil change. They charged her well over $100 for a 6 cylinder oil change, they said they couldn't look at her one headlight which was out of focus. A couple days later she was pulling out of a parking lot and some lady stopped her to tell her that her hood wasn't fully closed. The dumbass Tech who did her oil job left the cap on top of the engine and slammed the hood down and it didn't close fully. She drove around for more than a full day before it was noticed. That could have been a bad accident. We called them and spoke to an "assistant manager" who took her invoice number and said he would log it and have the management call us back. We never heard from them of course. We are both very busy people and just never got around to pursuing it. But I say stay away from this and all other Mavis Tiees this because all I've ever heard is bad things. Sadly, I have met the owner of the whole company and he's a very nice man. I took my work van in to patch 2 tires. They took it upon themselves to call my employer and tell them I neglected the brakes and it needed everything new at $3000+. Since Ive done my own brakes for the past 30 years, I asked him to show me exactly what was broken and why it needed replacing. He was fast talking with a bunch of nonsense. I don't need calipers. One of our tires was slowly losing air, we brought it to Mavis thinking that there was a hole in the tire, but we were so thankful that there wasn't, and the air was being lost due to a change in temperature. I am a 6 month pregnant, single mom that went here for tires and a wheel alignment. I had an almost brand new tire on the passenger rear side so I only purchased 3 new tires(not typical). I told the receptionist and the mechanic that I wanted the 1 tire I was keeping transferred to the passenger front side. As I'm driving the next couple of days, I notice my front tires making a loud thud sound. I thought maybe I bought loud new tires. It started to bother me so I began to do my own YouTube research. One guy said the lug nuts might not be tight enough. Sure enough my tire was missing two lug nuts! I was driving like this for a week! I told the manager I am not driving this car anywhere and he picked up the car. He said I had a broken wheel stud and a two nuts missing. Why didn't the mechanic inform me of this? Or fix it? And most of all why did he cover it with the hub cap like nothing was wrong? Very dangerous! I give this place a BIG FAT ZERO stars! Horrible Horrible Horrible customer service. The manager should be fired immediately! Called this place the day before scheduled an appointment had my car there the night before my appointment to be the first one in. The best is the quote I received when I called. The manager tells me that there is a difference in pricing on the tires in the store as opposed to the internet pricing. He wanted to charge me 40 dollars extra for each tire! Come to find out that they receive a huge commission for every "house" tire they sell. He gives me a price then when I pay I get all these extra charges. Mind you I had the same tires put in my vehicle 2 years prior with no extra charges. SCAM!!!! After reading the reviews, unfortunately after I paid, I see that I'm not the only one. I've been dealing with them since before they were Mavis. I must be a gluten for punishment. But this is the last time. Took my car in for 2 slow leaking tires. Ended up purchasing 4 new tires. Was quoted $767. Walked in to pick up my car... was charged over $1000. The kicker is the tire pressure light is still on. After 4 guys came out to try to diagnose the issue and an hour standing in the parking lot, the guy tells me it's probably sensors which would be $60 each. They are a tire place you think they'd be able to mount tires. Seriously . Last time I came in for and oil change and the oil filter wasn't put in properly. Went into mavis to get my tire plugged. I have spent about $2000 in the past year with all my cars needing tires. Went in and was rudely told bring it tomorrow. I explained it was on the front tire it is just a nail and I was told they have to put it on the lift. I explained ( since I have repaired tires in the past) to turn the wheel and put in a plug. John told me we don't do that it must be on the lift. He also told me that maybe I can bring it later but doesn't think he can get it done. I used to use Mavis in Point for my tires and EagleSpeed down the street for brakes and such. Scott said why not use us for both? So i did. Well, not only did the services take a looong time, they were trying to do things that didnt need done. For example, I replaced my cabin and engine air filters myself a few months before. The guy says mine are filthy and need to be replaced. I said no thank you. Went home and pulled them out and they were perfectly clean. This made me go to another shop. Then I sent my daughter there to get a car tire plugged. Just a plug. She came home spending $180 on a new freaking tire. The nail was in the center of the tire it was totally plugable. Called at 3:18 on a thursday for a brake job. They told me bring it in and they can do it, they are open until 8. I called at 7:45 and they said they wont get to my car until first thing the next morning. I dont think they were even going to call to tell me they were keeping my car overnight. I called 3 times the next day to check on my car. It wasnt until 1:30 Friday that my car actually went in to get checked. an hour later i walked up there to see what was wrong. they drove it and checked everything and said it was just low on brake fluid with no visible leaks. all that for just some brake fluid. they over extend themselves and need to work on time managment and communication. Don't got to Mavis !!! Horrible Service !!! They put security Lug Nuts on my tires without asking, never gave me the key for them. I got a Flat tire, can't change it because I didn't have the key. Call them, they lost the key !!!! Suddenly, Its my problem to tow the car to their shop miles away. I was at lunch when this all occurred. The security Lug nuts were in my glove compartment. I never asked them to be installed. I lost a day of work due to their mishap and there is no accountability, responsibility or compensation. The final insult was having the original security Lug Nuts returned to me, minus the key....?? They did not even have the decency to replace what they used without prior consent. Be very careful with Mavis tire in Point Pleasant NJ. Check the work closely. Mavis put brake lines in my 2006 chevy pick up. The lines are rubbing against each other in 6 places and rubbing against the frame of the vehicle in 4 places. The mechanic stripped the ABS accumulator by cross threading the brake line. The ABS accumulator needs to now be replaced which costs $600. A huge mess that needs to redone. All the brake lines need to redone and rerouted. read more

DO NOT go here, you will be ripped off. Went in for 4 new tires & a front end alignment (estimate around $700) on a 2016 Mazda with low mileage. Left the car and 2 hrs later I get a call saying they found other issues. The car needed front brakes, struts & shocks for an additional $1,800. I was suspicious of this and did not approve the work. Next day I took it to my mechanic of over 25 years and was told my car didn't need any of the work they told me. Just to be sure, I then took the car to my local Mazda dealership & had them check it as well, they too told me I didn't need any of that work and the car was in excellent operating condition. The Mavis employees are taught to up sell services, they earn a percentage of sales. I have since had many people tell me they had the same experience. Dropped their car off for tires and then told of other unsafe conditions with their car only to find out from another mechanic that what they were told wasn't true. Well Mavis, you didn't get the extra $1,800 out of me & I will never spend another penny in your shop. You can be sure I will be telling everyone I can NOT to utilize your rip off business. We went in for new tires and a wheel alignment. We did the math that it was impossible that they could have done all the work they claimed. And sure enough, the next mechanic we went to confirmed that they lied to us. And if you even try to question them, they all of a sudden get very aggressive and start yelling at you. Classic behavior from the worst of the worst of the worst in auto repair. The boys at Mavis are like a parody of old school auto mechanics ripping people off. Zeb seems to be the worst of them (mentioned in other reviews too). Just check the reviews to see what you're getting yourself into. I'm convinced that the positive reviews on here are fake ones from their friends. I went in to have an estimate on my power steering leak & have 2 new tires put on & his mechanic, which scott stood there & not only backed up what he was saying but scott himself told me to find a mechanic to do it on the side or trade my car in now while i could, but his mechanic proceeded to tell me it had multiple leaks including the rack & pin needed replacement & he estimated the job to be around $1200 but until they power washed the power steering fluid off of everything he really couldn't tell me exactly & he actually went as far as telling me it could be my transmission as well, mind you there hasn't been a single slip or even remotely an issue with my automatic transmission switching gears at all. So I took scott's advice & found someone to look at it & the gentleman works at a small shop in Lakewood & he looked at it for literally 30 seconds saw where the leak was & said he would cut the metal line & replace it with a rubber hose. On saturday 8/21/2021 he did just that & there is absolutely no power steering fluid leaking out of my power steering line at all. It cost me $107.50. I called scott & spoke with him about how I was so upset that I could be completely lied to all because he really thought I didn't have the money to buy a new car & it would be cheaper for me to go back there with the $1200 to have the repair done. I am a single mom who literally handles all finances herself & he knew this as well because we talked & he was still ok with trying to get a repair job out of me for $1200. But it gets worse because he went as far as telling me these things were never said to me. That they never even said it would cost around $1200 & he never told me to just go trade my car in while i could so i could get money towards a new car. DONT EVER GO HERE FOR CAR REPAIRS UNLESS YOU DONT MIND BEING RIPPED OFF. O yea & I had been there twice in 3 months & spent $400 having tires mounted, balanced & put on my car. So it's not like I wasn't being a loyal customer & using them to do car repairs for me. Please people go to a mom & pop mechanic because 9x's out of 10 they will be honest with you. These big time mechanic corporations only care about 1 thing, making money. I wish i could post a picture of the piece that was repaired cause you can clearly see where the pipe rotted out due to rust. it's still shocking to me at how comfortable both these men were at looking me in my eyes & telling me a bold face lie about the repairs & cost to my car. The reason I went for the second opinion was because I could clearly see the leak for myself & the car would hold power steering fluid in it for a few hours before i had to pour more in so had it been as bad as they were claiming it would have poured out the bottom immediately after i poured it in the top. If this leak had been somewhere where I could not see it I would have ended up trusting their word & spending $1100 more then what the repair actually cost me or i would have ended up trading in my perfectly good car. It's so sad that they felt this comfortable trying to take advantage of someone. Please be diligent & always always get a second opinion & ALWAYS trust your gut. read more

Came in with a slow leak in one tire. They didn't seem busy but I was told I'd have leave it. Walked home and waited three hours and finally called to check on the status of my tire. Was told it was repairable and had to be replaced. The tire was 2 months old. Purchased 4 at the Tire Farm in allenwood for $56 a piece. For the same tire Mavis charged $92. When I asked for my old tire to take with me, they first said it was thrown out. When I made a fuss they produced my damaged tire. It literally had a small finishing nail about one inch dome the sidewall and they said it was to close plug that it would be dangerous. Since then I have show the tire to thre experts and each one said they scammed me. I hope people will stay away from these crooks. read more
