My vehicle has been sitting at the Killeen location since My vehicle has been sitting at this Killeen location since July 2nd, and what I've experienced is not just poor service--it's a breakdown in integrity, communication, and accountability across Mavis locations. This issue began at the Midland, GA store, where I brought my car in for A.C. repairs. I was sent off with temporary cold air that failed within four months. No one explained the relationship between the compressor and condenser--basic knowledge that should've been disclosed upfront. Instead, I was given a partial fix that felt designed to fail. When I brought the vehicle to Killeen, I was told management had been trying to contact Midland to resolve the issue. That turned out to be false. After finally speaking with both RTMs, I learned there had been no communication at all. I've now paid for a rental car, waited over a month, and been told I'm responsible for the full cost of repairs--despite my loyalty and the fact that a previous repair was absorbed without issue. Only Phillip at the Killeen store showed professionalism and consistency. Everyone else--from store managers to regional leadership--either misled me or failed to follow through. I appreciate Matt Zellars reaching out, but stronger advocacy is needed. I've spent significant money with Mavis over the years, and to be treated like this is unacceptable. This experience has felt like a setup: partial fixes, vague communication, and a system that forces customers to return and pay more. If this isn't resolved, I will escalate publicly and formally. Had an appointment for new tires and alignment. After 2 hrs. of waiting I asked how much longer it would be. I was told that they "had a problem with the car before me" and that they only had one tire technician in today. They had not even started on my car. I have to say the worst service and on top I was humiliated by the staff manager. The loud, and old African American gentlemen. I was informed my car needed brake replacements front and back. I did not know and neither did I plan for it financially. So, I respectfully told him thank you for letting me know, but I do not have the money to spend 480.00 for the front brakes and 480.00 for the rear brakes. When the front desk lady asked if I was going to do the brakes, He loudly yells " He ain't got no money". He repeated this several time in front of the staff. In which they all joined in and laughed at the comment. I paid for the windshield wipers to be replaced, and they left the old ones on top of the hood. They also did not fill up my tires with air like I requested. I have to say the company as a whole is never going to have my business ever again. They embarrassed and humiliated me at my expense. We came rolling into town on Sunday afternoon at 4:15 Labor Day weekend with a tire on our new fifth wheel. Needless to say... even WallyWorld was closed and with Labor Day the next day i felt like we'd have a issue getting it repaired. Ran by their place and they were open till 5 pm. Excellent customer service and extremely professional. I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:20 pm and was greated with a welcoming smile. I requested the oil change and filter check needed, the representative was very pleasing and helpful, he gave me a run down of their services and prices. I never felt pushed to get anything. It took less than 15minutes for him to come back with my filthy filter asking if I wanted to change it and showing me the diagnostic results. I asked for what I wanted and 30minutes later I was out the door completely pleased. They even walked me to the car and open the door for me. I came in last Friday to get 4 tires. In fact I was already planning to come in the next day to get tires but had a flat on my way to work so I came on in. This was my first - and last - visit to Kauffman Tire and decided to try them because they are more convenient to my house over the place I have used for over 25 years. When I arrived there were only a few cars in the lot but the bays looked full. Inside were a few people that looked to be waiting on their cars. No one who worked there was in the lobby area. I did see someone who looked like a manager of sorts in the garage but he was not paying attention to the lobby area. After about 5-10 minutes of waiting, one of the techs opened the door, saw me, and told the someone that there was a customer at the counter. He told me that someone would be with me in a minute. He left the lobby and I waited another few minutes before I left because on no service. Obviously they didn't want or need my money. read more

I just went in to get a small nail out of my tire. The receptionist was helpful and respectful, she did let me know up front that it would be at least an hour wait. During the waiting process, one of the technicians came to ask me questions in regards to my tire and the issue at hand. I have no problem about being questioned but my problem lies with his tone while questioning. As a paying customer, respect goes a long way especially in this business world. This visit was a horrible experience for me. First, I was given an "appointment" for 2pm. I arrived and stated that I wanted an oil change and tire rotation. After an hour and 40 minutes, I got my vehicle back. NO oil change performed. I inquired and was told they didn't hear me request one. Another 45 minutes passes, and it's done. I leave and notice they put 57lbs of air in my tire, left 1 lug nut off my tire, and scratched my rim. I return immediately. They adjust the air pressure, tossed on a random nut and tried to send me on my way. When confronted about the mismatched nut, they told me it was the same as the others. I reiterated my position, and they ordered a matching nut. Meanwhile, they poorly attempted to remove the scratch on my rim and actually said it was gone. It is NOT! I finally leave at 5pm. Tyler seemed concerned, but he was the root of my issues. 2 other employees appeared concerned but the did not service my vehicle. My truck was the only vehicle in there after 20 minutes of arriving. Other cars later pulled up, had new tires put on and were out the door as I still sat there. Walked back after an hour and a half and no one was working on my patch; but they were on the other cars. Was told after two hours they were trying to find the leak. Then got called back 10 minutes later to look at chunks that were missing from within the tire. They should have pulled the tire off and been able to tell me that I needed a new tire within 15 minutes of touching my truck. Bad work ethics. read more

I booked an appointment for a tire rotation and showed up exactly at my appointment time. The guy at the front then told me I would have to wait at least 2 hours before they would be able to work on my car. When I asked why there was such a long wait despite having a confirmed reservation, his response was "Because it's Saturday." What is the point of booking and confirming appointments if you're not going to honor them?! I understand some jobs take longer than others, but there should be some sort of notice on the booking site informing customers that you do not honor the appointment times and you could end up waiting for 2 hours before they even look at your car. Or at least call the customer if you are experiencing major delays like that so they don't plan their entire morning around this appointment like I did and drive all the way to your business expecting to be driving away within the hour. A tire rotation is probably the most simple and basic service you could possibly get at a tire shop, it shouldn't take a 3 hour commitment from your customers to receive this service. I didn't have time to wait that long so I left and called Express Oil Change on Whittlesey. They told me that without an appointment it would only be an hour and a half wait. So somehow they can get you in quicker as a walk-in than Mavis can with a confirmed appointment. The guys at Express are awesome and are my usual go-to. The only reason I went to Mavis is because we recently moved to the area and Mavis is closer than Express. However, I will gladly be making the drive to Express from now on and won't be wasting my time with Mavis. I would advise you not to waste your time either, they clearly don't value their customers or the time we take out of our day to offer them our business and money. read more

I went to Mavis because my turning signal was not working. I was skeptical at first because I am a young female who know very little about cars and was concerned about getting ripped off. However the front desk assistant, Johnny greeted me and reassured me that my car was in good hands. To make a long story short i had a minor malfunction that took literally seconds to fix and did not warrant a payment. Second time: I was misinformed about a part that "needed" to be repaired. So I contacted my brother (a mechanic) and he confronted them showing them the were telling me a part needed to be resolved when IT DID NOT! We left the car we went and pick it up. When we start driving we were balancing like we were on the boat, left and right. The paper that they give us had everything green, like everything was perfect. So we went back today May 15 2019, explain them that something wasn't right. This time the person that was working at the front desk took the car. When we went back to get the car he came with a speech that they couldn't do anything for the car because front inner and outer tie rods on both sides are broken..... now I just want you to understand that was a 4 day between the visits and 1st time everything was perfect no problem, 4 days later everything was wrong including the tire. So they actually give us a paper that is all red. So they fake the first paper so it looks good? FYI : my husband is a auto mechanic and he just change all of it. I have been using this shop for the past two years and have had great experiences until this last time. I took my car in for an oil change and just ask they look it over to see if there was anything concerning. The guy came back and told me my tires were almost due for a change. He said they were just 1 number above where they need to be for a change. I told him I just had them changed a year ago and I still had over 100,000 miles left on them. He said he didn't know why but that's what the guy said and to come back latter to have Johnny check them. I came back a few hours later and of course my tires scored high. I asked him what happened and he said the guy must have eyeballed it and gotten the number wrong. my sister took her car here to get a new set of tires. it took them 6 hours and they charged her near $750. they told her the only tires they had in stock was the most expensive set of tires, costing $120 a tire, which we found out was a lie. they charged her for an alignment, which they didn't give her a choice on. they charged her for new windshield wipers, which she also wasn't given a choice on. she was extremely taken advantage of. meanwhile her father in law had taken his daughters car here for a new set of tires and was only charged $400. read more

What a complete ripoff! So when you go in, they give you one price for tires, then when you pay it's a higher total. I went in to order 2 tires. Online they were listed as $139. I was told by Daniel that the online price was for 4 tires. If I only ordered 2, the price would be $155. Fine - I asked him what the total would be and he said $394 - and that was for everything including installation. I told him to go ahead and order and was ready to pay then. He said that if I were to pay first, then he would have to go to some lengths to create a second work order. So I said ok and that I would pay when I pick up the car. Well it took another 2 days then what I was told and when I went to pick up the car, the total was now $434. According to him, the price of $155 that I was told was there cost on the tires. Then they markup another 25%. So I argued - why would you tell me your cost on it in the first place!!! Apparently he has amnesia now and no recollection of the conversation that we had when I ordered them! Terrible business and I will never go there again. read more

I took my '99 Buick in for a synthetic oil change and free tire rotation. That went fine, except that the wheel cover was not properly put on and was lost. When I discovered the loss, I checked the price on ebay for a replacement wheel cover (~$30). When I called Kaufmann, they checked their records and confirmed that the car entered with four wheel covers. Unlike most oil change places, they aggressively took FULL RESPONSIBILITY. What's more, while I would have been satisfied for a replacement used wheel cover for my 18 year old car, they insisted on getting me a brand new one ($100+). They were friendly, and willing to put their money up to back up the friendliness . In short, they acted like they really wanted my business. I am happy to patronize them for future undercar servicing. The facility is very new, well staffed, with complimentary Keurig coffee/hot chocolate, and a children's play room available. For longer waits, Hardee's, Chik-Fil-A and various other eating/drinking places are within short walking distance. Good WI-FI. Prices competitive with budget operations. I would have given them five stars except that they lost the wheel cover in the first place. These things will happen, and they made good on it. Highly recommended. read more

Horrible customer service. I had an appointment for tires for a week. They asked me to arrive before the 8:00 AM opening on Saturday. I arrived at 7:45 AM. There were already two gentlemen in line. The man at the desk explained to the person he was helping that his guys didn't arrive until after 8:00. The manager arrived and took over the desk. Instead of helping the people in line or asking if anyone had an appointment the first gentleman proceeded to ignore everyone in line, and started fiddling with drop box items. A half hour later I finally got my car checked in. During the tire installation they discovered my brakes needed work. Since the tires were off I agreed to having them replace the pads and fluids. I was told it would only add an hour to the time. At 9:30 they said my car would go on the alignment rack and I would be out of there within 20 min. I witnessed two mechanics leave and come back with breakfast. Customers could also see the two desk guys standing by the windows to the bay talking to the mechanics. There was a truck on the alignment rack but it clearly was not being worked on. At 10:30 I expressed my displeasure to the manager. I asked to speak to his district manager. They refused to give me any contact information. His name is Ishmal but that was all they would provide. The manager kept saying he would call but I watched him go around to the other customers in the waiting area. He stated that Ishmal would want him to take care of the issue. Then tried to offer me a discount on future work. I told him I was not coming back and was not interested. I wanted to speak to Ishmal and I wanted to have my car worked on so I could leave. I explained I run a business and was having to turn away work because I was stuck in their waiting room. They finally took the truck off the alignment rack that was giving them problems and finished the alignment on my vehicle. It was 11:00 by the time I checked out. The manager said he had spoken to Ishmal and that he was out of the office and would not deal with me until Monday. I told him that was the wrong answer and that I would be contacting Mavis today about the way this store is being run. Mavis Tire bought out Kauffman's retail outlets on January 1st, 2018. This was not how they used to run the stores in Atlanta. I was actually excited when they opened their store here in Midland, GA. I am extremely frustrated by this experience and will never return to this store again. Be smart go elsewhere. read more

This is NOT the place to seek expert mechanical repairs. Had shocks replace and within 5 months car was bouncing when driven over RR tracks, speed bumps, etc. Contacted garage, they could not notice anything. They recommended tire rotation to fix problem, did NOT work. On receipt, they stated that the " struts" were replaced. NOT true, the rear SHOCKS were replaced. Searched on the internet in every auto parts stores, trying to get the parts description on the receipt. NO LUCK, NO such listings anyplace, not even Kauffman parts. Contacted the garage for this info. Was told that Kauffman always uses OE parts for repairs, but was NOT given the info I requested. Do yourself a big favor and go to a garage that has/uses ASE certified mechanics. Also sent letter with two repair receipts to John Kauffman in Atlanta, GA, stating the problem. To date, NO reply. Also sent e-mail thru the Kauffman Home page, NO reply. Seems like they promise a lot but "FAIL TO DELIVER". My rating for this facility is ""0"" Not even one star.
