Sometimes emergencies or rush situations happen and scheduling medical transport with wheelchair capability can be a serious hassle since most transport requires advanced scheduling and planning. COMPARISONS - Sadly many insurance don't cover non-emergency medical transport. Getting old isn't cheap and medical transport isn't either, compared to other similar services ANEMT rates are average to a little better. MetroWest transport is the most popular and great, but they are constantly booked at least 1-2 days out or 5-10 hours for same day. MetroWest also has stair capable wheelchairs and stretchers by request and door to door service. TriMet offers basic medical transport for fairly cheap via shuttle, but they don't offer door to door so you'll need someone to push if the chair isn't motorized and electric. Uber and Lyft have wheelchair capable vehicles, but again, no door to door service and requires advanced scheduling. Interestingly Kaiser Washington State insurance covers non-emergency transport, but not in Oregon. Above and beyond - Along with being able to respond quickly with door to door service, they helped with transferring inside the home to and from the wheelchair. Aways super nice and friendly guys. Easy pay via credit card through a tex message link or over the phone. Have questions, be sure to ask, they are very helpful and accommodating. I use a ride share app myself but for my client's first ride alone I opted to call Radio Cab because it is what the concierge at her community uses. The Radio Cab dispatcher was laughably rude. He angrily refused to give a driver ETA "I have no way of knowing! I don't want to lie to you." I explained that my client was a sight impaired senior citizen and told the dispatcher that she was anxious. He responded with another impatient retort. After waiting with her and her dog for one hour I gave up and installed Lyft on her phone. Nine minutes later a kind driver appeared in a beautiful, spotless, well air conditioned (it was 90 degrees outside) car. My client's Radio Cab arrived 45 minutes later, almost 2 hours after I called. Two weeks ago I received a frantic call from a resident at the same facility who was stranded at her bank after waiting over an hour for her Radio Cab. I was with another client so she had to be rescued my the community's medical transport car. How is Radio Cab still in business? Starting tomorrow, I will be helping residents install the Lyft app and giving one on one instructions to help them become comfortable with this far superior option.

We were scheduled to be picked up at 4:45am but at around 9pm the night before I started getting nervous that we should leave a few minutes earlier, so I sent them an email asking if we could leave at 4:30am instead, really not expecting anyone to respond in time. They actually emailed me back within 10 minutes and confirmed the earlier pick-up time. Then, our return flight landed at PDX (an unheard of!) 40 minutes early. As soon as we touched down I texted the number to see if there would be any way someone could come pick us up for 40 minutes earlier than planned, again not necessarily expecting a response - especially since it was close to midnight. However, they texted me back instantly that my driver would be in touch with me soon, and sure enough our driver texted me within a few minutes. By the time we grabbed our suitcases off of the conveyor and walked a few minutes to the curb, our driver was already there and waiting despite us being 40 minutes early - and, again, it was close to midnight on a Wednesday. We are customers for life!

From the steam train all decked out for the season to the hot chocolate, candy canes, bells, elves, trees and yes...the big man himself even joined in the holiday fun! The train ride went a smidge past Oaks park. Enough for a good taste of the Christmas spirit but not too far to wear out the kiddos. Loved every second! Even after the ride, the fun continued. A dedicated space to write letters to Santa (and yes, he did write back!!! My little one loved getting his letter), hot cocoa/coffee booth (they hand decorated each cup!). I'll be back every year. I appreciate their dedication and warmth to all ages.
