Still my favorite spot to grab a beer in Colorado! Curated local selection that's always rotating, friendly service, love the additions of the ski gondolas for seating. Great merch selection too!

Cool spot, you can bring you dog and it will be treated well. The bartender last night for a bday celebration was amazing (Matt). We will go back to hang out on their great patio. The beer is top notch

Absolutley love Max Taps! The owners are so friendly and down to earth, excellent and knowledgeable on all the beer on tap, super fun and a great atmosphere! We always have a great time when we come!

All that walking at IKEA calls for beers. My group of CO friends love this place so of course we winded up here. This spot reminds me of the breweries I frequented in my hometown of Loudoun County, VA so if felt like being back home. I dig the Colorado breweries-only vibe since you have to represent. Beers of course are excellent. I loved the Graham Cracker Porter. The beer combined with sitting outside in the tent next to the heater gave that campfire feels you can only get in Colorado. No wonder people want to move to this state! The place is dog friendly and they also serves wine, ciders, and some mixed drinks if you don't like beer. I read this place is named after the owners' dog Max who passed. He would be very proud of this place!

It's open for business with social distancing with limited seating but also has outdoor patio. It is clean and airy and spacious. Has bunch of rotating taps and had all of my liking from sour to hazy and dipa. Today's visit had food truck at the front!

Google "on the hook" for their schedule.

So On The Hook and Max Taps are some smart cookies. Fish and chips and beer. Definitely go together. When i usually go to this food truck it's normally in a strip mall that you have to buy and take home. At least this location you have the option to eat your meal hot a beer or two. The employees of Max Taps are friendly and accommodating. If I lived closer it would definitely be dangerous for me. Haha. But I'll come on the occasionally fish and chips day for sure.

Great beer with my amazing dog Josie.

What a great group that works here. Excellent beer too. Waiting on one of the food trucks they have almost daily.

While I totally dig the concept of this place (taproom featuring all local brews, wines and liquor!), I found myself completely underwhelmed by this place. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but something felt off. PRO's: + Nice patio for spring and summer days! + Impressive selection of brews/wines/liquors. + Food trucks parked outside! + Location is prime! CON's: - Atmosphere was kind of awkward, jammed full of people, super loud and kind of boring. - Staff seems bombarded and overwhelmed. - Seating isn't really that ample, so a lot people were just standing around. - Minimal decor/style Maybe it was me, or just an off day. Either way, I"ll try again, to give it a fair shot.

    Mini flight to get started.

There's thankfully parking in front and around the back in lots. One of the highlights is their charcuterie boards - we ordered one last time and it was packed full of goodies: meats, cheeses, cornichons, olives, nuts, fruit, etc. Really well thought out. We did consider coming back here recently for our friend's birthday but apparently if you try to make a reservation for over 6 people you have to PAY per person - that's a little ludicrous. I understand a party of 50 and charging some fee, but to charge for a small party is a way to not get party business. I would likely come back here as it is a nice central location and has a nice patio though.

The high top tables in the bar area were not cleared of the dirty dishes/plates etc. as the restaurant appeared to be understaffed at the time of our arrival. Hence, a young lady who greeted us upfront took us to the bar which we had issues with. We enjoyed looking at the menu for both food and drinks. Each side had selections of various kinds. Since we didn't need to eat, we turned our attention to the drink side where we noticed wine flights. Both red and white had had 4 different flights. And each flight comes with 3 varietals of wines. We both are more of red wine people. My daughter went with the Argentinian one; I went with the European Vacation. After comparing the two, our votes went to the European one. This definitely supersedes the South American wines in overall quality and tastes. Out of the 3 in the European one, the Spanish wine (Marques de Grinon, 'Caliza' 2020 vintage) stood out the most to us. After we had finished our flights my daughter ordered a full 6oz glass of it to fully immerse herself in the wonderful Espanol wine. The bartender, Jake, was peppy and pleasant to us. We felt bad though. He was busting his bottom to serve everyone in the bar area. Besides that young lady in the floor who occasionally came and went there was nobody else. Not sure if they were simply short staffed or they are always that way where they need to hire more staff, I hope the issue gets resolved soon. Hats off to Jake; no matter what, he was pleasant to everyone not forgetting to walk each one through the menu and promptly delivering their drinks once made.

Plenty of options for everyone!…read more Street parking so definitely read the signs. I went here for Denver Restaurant week with my family so we did make a reservation ahead of time. The dress code I say would be casual since we went for Denver restaurant week. There was a prefix menu so we did not get to choose off the full menu. I chose the steak with broccolini and mashed potatoes. My dessert was crème brûlée and my appetizer was a soup. The servers were very friendly and were able to seat us immediately. Because it was Restaurant week we did not need that much time to look over the menu. The food was than brought out course by course starting with the appetizers. I do not like salad so I chose the soup of the day. It happened to be a tortilla soup. I decided to give that to my dad who really enjoyed it. He said the flavors were really good. Next way, the entrées and I liked my steak! It was seasoned really well, the potatoes were great and the broccoli was good. To be honest, nothing really stood out about it. It was just a normal steak and potato meal in my opinion. When for dessert was the crème brûlée! I absolutely love crème brûlée and this one lived up to its expectations. To be honest, this was the best part of the meal. For this restaurant, it was $45 for these three courses. I definitely did not get my moneys worth as I would've not ordered a few things but overall it was nice to get to try everything.

Despite having a reservation, the restaurant was clearly unprepared to seat us, and once we finally made it to a table, we waited far too long before anyone even acknowledged us. The limited Valentine's Day menu was already missing multiple items, and the few interactions we had with staff were mostly to inform us--well after ordering--that they were out of what we'd selected. The servers were largely absent throughout the meal, leaving us feeling ignored on a night that should have felt special. To their credit, the food itself was good, and the restaurant ambiance was nice, but nowhere near worth the premium price tag given the disorganized service and overall lack of attention. When you're paying top-tier prices, the experience should at least meet the basic expectations of hospitality and preparedness. We won't be returning, and we'll be steering friends and neighbors elsewhere so they don't end up with the same disappointing experience.

We were immediately sat on the patio around 5:45 PM. We were greeted and given "welcome bubbles". What a nice touch. After about 5 minutes, we were finally given menus. Other people were sat around us, so we waited to ask for the happy hour menu. We ordered the chef's choice charcuterie, a cocktail, and a glass of wine. The drinks and board were yum, but not quite a wine bar as there were very limited option by the glass. Also, we had to ask for plates and silverware where this is a basic item. While deciding on dinner, we were approached a couple times by the 2 servers in the section. One was friendly, the other, not so much, rather indifferent and made us feel a little uncomfortable and not very welcome. This kind of set the tone for the rest of our night. We ordered the "family share" chateaubriand. We realize this is an expensive cut, but the portion is definitely not a sharing cut, around 4 oz. It is closer to a single entree. When it arrived, the plate was cold, like the meat was lukewarm and the cauliflower was ice cold. Again, we had to ask for silverware and plates for this "family style shareable" plate. We brought the cauliflower temperature up with the server and got new cauliflower after we were done with the rest of the meal. Also, I sat with an empty wine glass and no one stopped to ask if I needed another glass. When the servers did stop by, it was a short interaction and we never even had a chance to ask before they were already walking away. We saw so many people come in and out that they must be doing something right, but for us, our experience was mediocre. If our meal would have been the correct temperature (it was well prepared, just cold) and better execution on the service, we may have had a better experience.

***This review was written based on my tasting experienced that occurred on Saturday, August 26,…read more2023. August 26th was their last day to operate at the location of 8130 S University, Unit 110; they are moving to a new location: 311 E County Line, #20; this is the old driver's license place. It's my understanding that they will resume their normal operation at the new place in mid-September.*** As an avid wine drinker, I had to fathom to understand why it had taken this long to come to this winery even though they opened their doors almost 15 years ago. I had passed this quiet shopping center numerous times in the past and although the actual store is not necessarily super visible from the street, the sign (winery) at the entry to the shopping center had caught the kitty corner of my eye every time I drove on University. Whatever the excuse I can thing of, I finally made it here as if to scratch one item off of my bucket list. I bought a deal from Groupon (two-hour wine tasting with award-winning wines for two with one take-home bottle deal) at the price of $41.60) months ago. I simply couldn't ignore such a great deal. Without further ado, let me rate my yesterday's tasting experience. Selection of wines: First off, this place carries world sourced/Colorado made wines. They, of course, have white, red and dessert ones. Grape types are Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cab Sauvignon, Tempranillos, Malbec, Carmenere, Chianti, Barolo, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Pinotage, Barbera for reds and Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Liebfraumilch, Viognier for whites (I'm pretty sure I have left off a few.) This is quite extensive. Because of this, you'll be guaranteed to find something that will resonate with your likings/palate. Quality of wines: I had no expectations before I had arrived. All I was looking for was a quality time with my friend over a glass of wine. But once I started a flight of my choices, I had a hard time picking which one was better between the first and the second one or the third one and the fourth (and so on) and what I liked the most because they all tasted amazing. I know some say that Colorado made wines are not at par with wines from other states/regions but if you still think that Colorado's wine making level is still pretty low, you should definitely check this place out. Host: Melissa (?) was simply amazing. She was hospitable and attentive to our needs. She tirelessly walked around the floor with several bottles of wines in her arms/hands and kept pouring for us and other guests. She was also excellent at making great suggestions. And whenever she mentioned her favorites and we tried them out, we ended up liking them. Like I mentioned earlier in this review, the place was in the transition of moving. Melissa asked us to pardon any/all mess that we might notice. She also said that certain things had already been boxed up for the move so the only thing she could offer for us to munch were black sesame crackers (but this place does have charcuterie board.) This was totally understandable. Website: Check it out for sure. They offer wine club membership (gold club is $50, silver club is $45 and bronze club is 35); they let you make your own wine (I wonder how this is done; I'm curious); they let you make your custom wine labels (you can commemorate a special occasion such as birthday, wedding anniversary etc.); they let you rent the winery for seminars, events etc. Regular wine tastings: $15 per person for 6 tastes or $25 per person for 1 hour tasting My friend and I left the place (after two hours of tasting) being impressed. I cannot wait until they reopen at their new location. I'm pretty sure it'll be a more superior experience as they'll have everything: the ambience, the food but most of all, the award-winning wines. ***I decided on Chilean Cab-Malbec-Carmenere as my take-home bottle after the tasting***

Read good reviews, so stopped in to check it out…read more FOOD: We had read something about good cocktails, but it took a lot of digging (beyond the menus provided) to find anything about it. Wine list was a lot shorter than I sort of expected from a place called a "wine bar." The malbec I ordered a glass of was fine; my wife's rose champagne was very nice and dry. We tried a couple of apps to see if we wanted to order dinner. The polenta fries were dry. The Korean pork tidbits were tasty but just little chunks of pork in a bowl. Nothing drastically wrong with either, but not anything particularly inspiring, either. We decided to have dinner elsewhere. SERVICE: Friendly, but felt pushed to order something *right now*. The receipt came with QR code for payment through Toast. It wasn't clear if I should pay through that, or wait for her to take my card. (I used the QR code, and the waitperson then wandered over (to get my card, it seemed) and seemed surprised and very relieved I'd used the QR code, which saved them so much work. AMBIANCE: Nicely decorated place. They apparently do a number of events, and when we were there, a big party was going on in the front half of the dining room, which was fairly noisy (and the crowd of which spread across the entrance). NET-NET: Not a great experience -- not bad, strictly speaking, but there's a lot of other places I could have gone. I'd eat there again if a friend recommended meeting there, but given the many choices in downtown Englewood, I wouldn't pick it again on my own.

Yelp's weekly suggestions are some spot-on and timely. Had it not been for one of them I recently…read morereceived, I don't think I would discover this hidden bar. Its overall chicness in a spacious lounge-style room immediately cooled me down once I arrived (on the day I visited after work, the temperature outside was soaring in upper 80's.) The time was around 4:45pm. If I am not mistaken, their happy hour is 3-5pm. I thought I was in the middle of the HH rush but there were still plenty of seatings available and yet the place was nowhere near empty. And yet, I found just the right spot so I would be away from all the chatters emitting from the people mainly sat at the bar. The selections for wine (red and white) as well as the tap beers are quite the variety. During the HH time, the drinks are only $5 for beer on tap, well mules, wells spirits and any wine on tap. For a chic/elegant/upscale place such as this place, this pricing offer is extremely generous. I simply couldn't think of anything other than refreshing cold white wine so after getting a little suggestion from my wonderful waiter, I went with the Angeline Sauvignon Blanc (the regular price is $12 so I saved $7.) As much as I am a wine person, I don't go by the rigid rules. White win should generally be served between 45°F and 55°F (7°C to 13°C) and yet at home I chill my (white) wine in the freezer for a bit so it will be super cold. This is a must for me. And to my surprise, when they served me the Sauvignon Blanc it was pretty close to the super chill temperature I am used to. As if they read my mind, I was quite surprised and happy with the cold crisp white wine. It was a quick stop to have a little "after work" cocktail on the way home so I didn't get any food and yet that crisp chilled white wine I was served instantaneously made me a big fan of this cocktail lounge. When I asked my waiter when the place opened. He said it opened in 2019. I simply couldn't believe it. If it's been around for this long but the fact that I recently heard about it stunned me. And if I am not mistaken, the waiter said that another location is about to open in a different area in the Denver metro. It's nice to know that this business is thriving. Good for them.
