With COVID-19 you must have an appointment to enter the hair salon. No walk-ins. I arrived 5 minutes early and checked in. Mine-san was my hair stylist and she was friendly and professional. I only needed a slight trim for my hair and bangs plus thinning. She washed my hair (such an enjoyable experience) and finished the trim in 45 minutes. The total came to around $60 (incl tips). Other japanese salons charge around similar prices for ladies haircut WITHOUT shampooing, this salon includes shampooing in the price. The salon is a humble place it's not upscale or lux. But for my experience it's one of the good ones. Also really close to skytrain station.

I get basic haircut so they can't really screw it up. They asked if I want my back and sides short, how short ( #1,2,3 or 4), etc. Thr guy I got was efficient and checked how it looked halfway to make sure it was what I wanted and if I wanted it shorter. That long tube above the mirror, it is actually a vacuum as they vacuum your hair after so there aren't as much hair on the ground. I think it is interesting as then they would have to sweep the floor as often and it gets most of the loose hair on your head.

Not only was she very friendly and put me at ease, I was so pleased with how my hair looked and felt at the end of the session. She went out of her way to make arrangements with me so I could get my jacket back on a day the salon was closed. Overall, Nana was so wonderful and I can't recommend her enough!

Ranjna is absolutely wonderful! I booked with her after quickly scrolling through hair salons…read moreBurnaby, and seeing that she was open later than a lot of the rest. I called around 6pm, and booked for 6:30pm today. I was running a bit late so I called to let her know. She said no problem, thank you. Making an appointment is so easy, since she always answers the phone by the third ring. When I arrived at the salon, she greeted me warmly with a smile and she was ready to begin her services on my hair. She was very informative. Explained in full what she was going to do step by step. Answered all of my questions happily and is really great to talk with. She is very kind and has fantastic manners. My hair has never looked better. She got my entire long(26") head of hair to a beautiful blue black, jet black. (From another hair stylists poor job of blotchy black, brown-black.) She dyed my eyebrows jet black with a special dye. There was absolutely no mess around my forehead, ears, nape of neck, or eyebrows. I asked for a deep conditioning treatment she applied that and massaged it into my head/hair. I always opt for air dry because my hair drys beautifully without any heat. She sprayed my hair with leave in conditioner and gave me a brand new black detangling brush, that she took out of the package to detangle my hair with. Near the beginning she had asked me if I like black. I said yup. I Wasn't sure if she was referring to my black hair or my nails that had just been shellaced black. But I think it was actually for the brush, she is very thoughtful. So for all of my services it cost me $118. $85 for full long hair color $25 for leave in treatment $6 for dying eyebrows + tip Her services are absolutely fantastic, and I will 150% be going back. Thanks Ranjna! :)

I don't aswell and I felt incredibly awkward due to that as it seemed like I was expected to smile, laugh, and all that. I don't do that really and I felt as if I was intruding. There were young children running about too so.. not coming back there again nor will I recommend the salon if anybody asks.

The hairstylist did not ask me if the water temperature is fine when she washed my hair, and she…read moreput something to cover my nose and my mouth when she washed my hair. That was odd because usually the hairstylist would only cover the customers' eyes. It was difficult to breathe. Also, she told me to sit up while she was still drying my hair at the back. Usually, the hairstylist would have wrapped my hair before they told me to sit up. She made me look bad and uncomfortable. I asked for layers and she did not give me a lot of layers. She said she would give me a little bit. That was not professional. The she tried to make my ends curly using the hair dryer and I told her I wanted my ends straight. She did not understand layers; she kept asking if I wanted thinner hair. I said no. She asked me twice if I wanted bands and I say no. Moreover, while she was cutting my hair, she let the hair fall onto my hands which could have been avoided. She did not put on the cape for me - she needed me to hand the other side to her instead of putting it on me. The service was terrible and she was indeed incompetent. Furthermore, when I said the haircut looks good, she kept on cutting. I said, "It's good' several times and she was still cutting my hair. Then she asked my sis, who was sitting beside me, "Is she okay?" I did not know why she said that; she was embarrassing me. When she finally stopped cutting, she looked at me with an anxious look and told me I could go back if there is any problem. She made me look bad with her exaggeration. In addition, she left a lot of the hair on my face after she finished cutting my hair - she only handed me the tissue box when I looked at the mirror and tried to wipe the hair off my face. Moreover, she and another hairstylist were chatting and looked at my sister with a weird gaze. That made her uncomfortable. When I tried to pay, the receptionist showed me a higher price after he knew that I was paying in cash. Why would they charge less if you are paying with credit/debit card? That was not right and he did not explain. Then the receptionist said, "No change? Tips?" after I tipped them. He was insulting. I think they knew that they should not treat customers this way and this was why they charged me $3 less. I was surprised when I saw the price but now I understand.

The owner and a Japanese hair stylist (called Aya) were able to schedule an appointment accommodating the time for me on the day I called (today). They were awesome! The hair studio has a great location (I personally think), because it is just next to Joyce Skytrain Station. Even if I drove, I could find street parking easily. After I stepped into the hair studio, the owner and Aya greeted me. They were very polite and took a good care of me (and all other customers). They placed my purse carefully and locked into a storage. Aya washed my hair carefully and checked with me about the temperature of the water and if I felt comfortable. She put time and effort to cut my hair and made sure if that was the length that I wanted on my hair (unlike some hair stylists kept cutting the hair even though I asked to trim a little bit). After cutting the hair, Aya put a little bit of treatment lotion(?), blew dry my hair and even curled a little bit at the bottom of my hair to make the whole style look perfect. Their pricing was reasonable and service was great! They deserved 5 stars! I would come back for the hair cut next time.
