Im a buyer at maxsold , not a regular buyer but when I find something worth or that I like. Today I had the worst experience as a customer and I want to sharenso others dont go through the same. So I won't a lot of costume jewellery . In thos lot was an amber necklace a first natio. Sterling silver large piece lot of random jewellery and I a couple of galss vases . My invoice was under $100 but the retail value and rarity of some pieces was priceless. When my credit card on file had expired so the night before ai attempted to add the new card to pay. It kept asking me for a code as I entered the code they sent it would not let me proceed. I attempted maybe 15 times until I gave up The next morning around 10:30 daily of pick up i tried again and eve went well I was able to make payment anf finalize my purchase. In the afternoon we drove one hournto the pick up location. When I arrived I was told my items were gone. I was confused and asked what do you mean gone? Well they told me maxsold called then and said I didn't napy and give my items away for free to whomever wanted.so someone took my jewellery lot for free and I was stunned as how something like this could happen. I called in and the conversation didn't go well . In the middle I was told they were going to hang up on me. After much back and forth therly offered to refund my total payment and that was that. I lost the items I had won in auction. I was so upset I cried . Those items were special and I was looking forward to aquire them . Although material things are material things at the end of the day it was the failier on their end that is unnuceptable and so unprofessional. Many of the poor reviews here, have to do with the fact that the people writing them don't understand the terms and conditions of Maxsold or the auction process in general. The company is VERY TRANSPARENT. For example, if one wants to get a legitimate feel for how much items can sell for, I suggest they go to the Past Auctions results, where visitors can see what items have actually sold for at the end of every auction. NO OTHER AUCTION COMPANY that I know of lists such an extensive past auction history - for free. (This Past Auctions Record is also a valuable tool for pricing research) The fact that all items start at $1.00 and sell without reserve, (aka Absolute Auction) is the secret sauce. The absolute auction model is overall the most successful and most popular format in the auction industry. As far as claims that Maxsold doesn't do any advertising, many of you reading this realize that this isn't true. They extensively advertise on all major social media fronts, TV and Radio. After holding over 30 auctions with Maxsold, I've never gotten ONE late payment. Below are core metrics from a recent auction I had on Maxsold with some collectibles, bric-a-brac and coins etc. I CANNOT get those kind of results ANYWHERE else for these kinds of items! 1. Their site went down when all the auctions in my area were closing. Users were unable to login, see any of the auctions or bid. The next day, support said their site in fact had an issue, and "sorry for any inconvenience", but do nothing to right the wrong. The actions should have been extended noting that a ton of folks were not able to even access the website. Instead, they let only a few users bid, prices were most likely lower for those items, and never sent a message out to the community. Both the bidders and sellers got screwed, and MaxSold is "sorry for any inconvenience". I will be using other sites moving forward as this one can not be trusted. read more

I always loved MaxSold. I've found so many great things. And the folks when you show up are typically nice and helpful. However, there was a website update and now it's no longer autism and ADHD friendly. We have trouble remembering dates and there used to be a feature that you could get an email reminder when an auction was ending. That's gone. I don't think they realize how many sales they are going to lose because of this because we won't remember when items are ending. Do better Maxsold. read more

I feel so bad for my friends that used this company recently. I don't know what the contract stated, but they didn't know they were going to get taken. Maxsold didn't do any advertising and they didn't put any minimums on any items. I will grant you that there wasn't much that was worth a lot, but a whole set of China shouldn't be $1.00, Nor should dining room chairs be separated from the table. The dining room chairs were also sold for $1.00, and took away any value the dining room set would have had. Lord only knows how much of that $1.00 The homeowner will actually get. I've been a buyer on MaxSold for about 10 years. The auctions they present are pretty much straight up with fair descriptions of the items on the block, the bidding process, and information regarding recovery of item purchased. When difficulties are experienced, it is usually the fault of the auctioneer that is using MaxSold's media to promote their auctions. Sometime items on the block will be underdescribed leaving the condition of the item up to viewers discretion. Such auctions are quickly realized after a short look. The commissions charged by MaxSold are known up front and are reasonable for what, for the most part, are at home auctions. read more

I have bought items with cracks and chips. They we're hidden from view in photos and never mentioned in description. They will often load a lot with trash, and make you take it as part of the lot. Beware of seller managed auctions, the items you bought just may not be available when you go to pick up. In general, I would say, be cautious when bidding and do not spend a lot of money, as you may not actually get what you think you bid on. read more

This is a complete scam - the wasted time and energy for this company to come in and 'catalogue' items - means that they send minimum wage employees who have no idea of the value of most items - they put the items into 'lots' $$$ worth of items into a lot where the bidding starts at $1 - they charge $350 as their fee plus 30% of the sales - I had approximately $150,000 worth of items - sports equipment , commerical grade household appliances, designer clothing & shoes- etc etc The 'sale' sold 100% of my items for a whopping $750 !!! Then to add insult to injury - one of the buyers did approximately $10,000 worth of property damage to my property as she had no idea of how to maneuver her truck and trailer - Max Sold took no responsibility whatsoever for the damage . MaxSold's rules are designed to benefit the company at the expense of its customers. If one is unable to pick up during a pickup window, the merchandise is forfeited and goes to... who knows where - apparently to MaxSold employees. A week ago MaxSold employees expropriated $245 worth of paintings and a dorm fridge that I paid for. To facilitate the theft, the employees often "forget" to put up MaxSold signs making it more difficult for customers to locate a pickup site. False advertisement is not uncommon. It happened to me twice. The first time I bid $500 on a painting and ended up with a $1 print. The only people who knew that this was a print were MaxSold insiders who did not bid. Apparently, MaxSold allows its employees to bid against their customers. More recently, I paid $60 for sterling on a porcelain coffee set. It turned out that the set was painted with sterling paint. After I emailed a complaint to MaxSold's customer service, I was told that since I removed the merchandise from the premises, I was not eligible for a refund, as though I would be able to replace genuine sterling with identically looking sterling paint. read more

As a former business owner myself I DO understand that as a company you need and have policies. However, what transpired over the past 2 days of trying to work out a viable solution with you has been absolutely ridiculous. I've spoken to several customer service representatives who have only given me the runaround. It's clear they are either teenagers using their phones in their bedroom. Or someone I've disrupted - because I'm trying to figure out why you keep suspending my account at random during an auction - in some busy parking area... Or God knows what! Beware of SELLER MANAGED auctions! I have won items from two seller managed auctions that had issues not disclosed in the auction description. I am an EBay seller and believe me, no seller would get away with running an auction like this. I bought a broken waffle iron and upon pickup, the seller tells me it works wonderfully. My recent purchase this weekend, I was three minutes late for my pickup, no seller. They evidently had just packed up and left. I was able to meet up with the seller the next day, however, after 4 hours driving total to make the pickup over two days, one item was broken, and the other items had serious undisclosed flaws. Recent Ruggles Street, Westbourough, MA Maxsold Auction. (September 2020). Seller has a "lot" of religious items. Among the items I see a cross that was given to me by by now deceased husband. It had been stolen 12 -14 years ago from our home by someone known to our family, thus, no police report. I initially looked in pawn shops and jewelry stores that take in stolen jewelry, Later I constantly searched Maxsold, EBTH, on line every where, even thrift stores. This has been my life for the past 12 years. Imagine how I felt when I saw it in the auction, but, the auction had just closed. Someone had bought the entire lot for $12.99. My cross that was one of the last items my husband ever gave me. I contacted Maxsold right away. Supposedly they contacted the seller who never responded. From there it was legal BS. I ask you, is it breaking confidentiality for a company to call the buyer and explain the circumstance. Is it breaking confidentiality to tell me the State (as someone did slip and say the buyer was from out of state) and/or city my cross is in? I'm not looking for names (like I would ever get one). I am looking for a place I've bought from Maxsold in the past and upon pick up an item was "unavailable". I didn't get angry. I've had to park far away, walk down stone stairs in snow to get to a dingy basement where my items were on the floor. I didn't get angry. I will never use this service again. Won 2 auction and made my payments. 24hrs later after payment was quickly received, they cancelled the auction. Payment had been received by maxsold and pick-up scheduled. Then seller decided to cancel the auction after all payments were received. Now they tell me processing of refund takes 7-10 days. The issue is, in paragraph 5 of terms and conditions it clearly states that once sale is complete it is a legally binding contract. SO where are the items I purchased ? Is it legal for this to happen. As a reseller, I already made arrangements for the items. I am out time, money, inconvenience, and maxsold is in the clear. How can a legally binding contract be broken with no repLegal actions will be taken against seller and if there are loopholes in terms and condition, action against Maxsold. These people are crooks, if I could do no stars I would, they kept the goods I bought because I was late on the pick up. The claim was that I abended the the goods after just 12 hours. I attended a "seller run" auction pickup for the Brockton sale on 4/20/19. Among the few things I won, I purchased a lot which was listed as "vintage photographs", but upon further inspection they are actually modern reproduction postcards, not vintage or photos at all. I would not have bid almost $25 on these if I had known what they actually were. The seller had glued them to paper backings and photographed them this way, and there was virtually no way to tell that they were actually postcards from the Maxsold listing. Normally, I check all lots thoroughly before leaving the premises whenever I pick up, and would in theory settle any issues before leaving (because I realize as a seller-run auction, Maxsold is pretty hands-off, which normally would be fine). This situation ended up being a bit tricky. The seller was conducting his auction and pickup at a Public Storage facility (which is against the terms of his locker lease.) It was extremely shady and uncomfortable. The manager onsite was irate and calling the police as I arrived to pick up my winnings. Since my card had already been charged, I did want to pick up my lots. After receiving all my winning lots, I made sure to quickly check that all lots were accounted for. Before I could examine them in depth, the police were showing up, and I wanted to leave the property promptly as I was pretty uncomfortable with the whole situation. It wasn't until I got home and examined the lots further that I noticed the discrepancy with the aforementioned lot. I immediately filled out both the refund request form via the Maxsold website and additionally emailed customer service with detailed photos and information with a request for refund on just the one lot in question. Maxsold never refunded me, or replied to either correspondence. I am disappointed in the total lack of communication and customer service. I checked my records and I have spent well over $500 on Maxsold auctions during the past year alone.
