Pretty unique place. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came by here last Saturday afternoon, basically on the recommendation of my Lord and Savior Reddit as an indoor activity we could do before the Celtics game later in the evening. My chum is a big shopper and I like wandering around in life trying to find random objects to emotionally imprint on, so it was a good match. I was also impressed by the idea of five entire floors dedicated to this, which we didn't even come close to completely exploring. The negatives were minimal but significant - the market was insanely crowded, especially on the first floor, and it was teeming with Gen Zers holding out their phones, presumably ecstatic that they'd found juicy TikTok content for their cottagecore fans or whatever. It was a lot and difficult to navigate; we had to pause a lot to make our way through, though it wasn't quite as bad on the other floors. And I'm not sure there's a solution to it; what are you going to do, have a quota for the number of people in the building at a given time? That would just involve bottlenecking and customers standing outside in the cold. So just make sure you're caffeinated and mentally prepared for people. I grew up with a mother who spiritually lived in Jane Austen novels so antique shops were a way of life. They're not known for their minimalist interiors but this was a ton of stuff by any measure. I don't think I've seen this amount of clutter in a space that didn't give off massive hoarder vibes. And it sort of had themes; there were alcoves or little areas divvied off that were, say, more nautical items, or more outdoorsy forest items. I can't even imagine how they managed to even quasi-successfully organize this kind of inventory but it definitely helps a little. My chum knows my taste, or lack thereof, and located a masterpiece (attached) which will be displayed prominently in my kitchen. The quirky artwork was abundant, to say the least. She also spied a magnificent Saturday Evening Post with my BFF Nixon on the cover, which I will be framing shortly and adding to the fray as well. If you don't spend a solid 45 minutes in here and not find a few choice treasures to bring home, that's on you. I was also impressed that they had easy-to-find restroom facilities on every floor (or close to it), right by the staircases. Not only were they convenient bathroom options, but they worked well as de facto changing rooms (which my chum took advantage of when she encountered a wild flapper dress on one of the higher floors). There were a few employees roaming around for both assistance and I imagine, sadly, to minimize potential shoplifting but it didn't seem overly egregious and everyone I encountered first hand or second hand was very friendly. One of the highlights of the trip for sure - political bovine posters are hard to come by.

I am SO happy to have found this place! Ever since the pandemic, I haven't traveled anywhere that has great thrifting. I miss the North Carolina trips for that very reason. This place has five floors total (one is downstairs that mainly has furniture). The floors are divided into booths, each having their own (consecutive) number. All items have price tags attached with the booth number. Some booths will have 20-30% off items over $10. I found one booth that was 50% off, and they had a lot of cool dishware and mugware. Each floor has a person that will help you open any locked cases if you wish to see something. It took me about 2 hours to walk through, but I know I missed stuff in the nooks, so I could have easily spent another hour. I absolutely loved this place. There was so much to see and rummage through, and items were reasonably priced.

Some fiestaware I found, a bit expensive but always neat to find.

I've lived in the suburbs around Boston, so I frequently like to find things to do in the city. I can't believe I've been missing this place all these years! It's right off the green line so it's super easy to get too, and there's 5 floors of stuff to see so you bet there is an incredibly large selection of things. I wouldn't say that the prices were super competitive I guess. There were certainly some deals but some things were definitely a bit higher. Despite how busy it was the people at the cash register still made quick conversation and complimented everyone's finds so hats off to them. 100% check it out. Furniture, clothing, random trinkets and treasures, it's all there.

I had an absolute superb time visiting the Cambridge Antique Market. The store is set up similar to other regional antique showrooms. the basement is for large furniture from various time periods, the 1st floor is dedicated to higher priced pieces, the 2nd floor is for mid-level priced pieces. the 3rd floor is a snack bar that is currently under construction. The aisle are small but each booth is filled to the brim and everything is well organized and properly priced. The staff were incredibly welcoming and are willing to help you unlock cases and try electronics for customers. They have a private parking lot, steps and an elevator for each floor, shopping baskets are offered at the entrances, and checkout is on the 1st floor at the main entrance. they accept cash/card and also offer an ATM on site. Definitely worth a visit and I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Great vintage store full of treasures and characters!!! Just the parking lot has very limited spaces and once get in hard to back out.

Located in Harvard Sq., they seem to be a pretty busy spot. Parking wasn't hard to find in this area on a Sunday. Upon entering, we were greeting by one of the workers. There was a clearance rack that they placed outside next to the entrance. Once you walk down the stairs, to your right is where most of the clothes are. Solid selection of denim & leather jackets, a little pricey compared to Goodwill/Savers but makes sense because they are more of a "vintage" clothing store. To the left of the stairs is where they have denim jeans & where you go to check out once you're finish with browsing. All sales are final like most thrift/vintage second hand shops. I found this denim jack with a brown leather collar today for $60. Thick & good quality. Lots of Wilsons leather jackets here. They also have a room with bins of clothes, for a low price, you can look through. I didn't have much luck with the bins, but seems like a lot of people did! Highly recommend.

We walked into a space that covers clothing, furniture, lamps, jewelry, vintage tech including audio equipment and cameras, and housewares. The range across those categories is genuinely broad for a store of this size. The clothing leans toward well preserved vintage pieces rather than the more chaotic mixed inventory we have seen at larger thrift chains, and the curation reflects real attention to what ends up on the floor. Jewelry is priced affordably, and the watches come with resizing and battery replacement available, a small service detail that makes the secondhand watch section more accessible than it would otherwise be. Furniture and lamps are all for sale alongside the clothing, which gives the store a layered quality that rewards slower browsing. Pricing is reasonable for the quality and condition of what is on offer, particularly given the Harvard Square location where most retail runs at a premium. For vintage shopping in Cambridge, Retrospect is the kind of place that rewards repeat visits as the inventory turns over consistently enough that something new surfaces each time.
