On a Fish Fry Friday, I ordered the clam chowder and fish fry dinner with perch and sweet potatoes…read more The clam chowder was excellent. Generously prepared, great seasoning and with the right temperature. The fries are sprinkled with cinnamon which was a first for me. The sweet potato fries were a little soggy but not bad. The cherry hard cider was fizzy and refreshing, It looks like the restaurant used to be a fire house. To me, it's like if the Hot House (Menomonee Falls) and Mission BBQ had a baby. Our server was excellent. She took very good care of us. On a quiet afternoon, we were sat by the bar, by a group that was very loud. We would have preferred a different table.

Really mixed review. Food was good but the service was meh at best…read more We were seated immediately but then it took over 10 minutes before someone talked to us again. No drinks, no "we will be with you shortly" or anything. We just sat there. Finally a server came over and said they had a big group come in and it was causing some backup and the host should have told us; he didn't. The drinks and appetizer came quickly and the street corner appetizer was very good; I would order it again. Once the appetizer was finished we sat with empty glasses for a good while. Again, no communication. Once the food arrived, things got much better. Wraps were good, not great. My daughter's pizza was good. With all the restaurants in the area, they will need to up their game on service.

Buyer Beware! I…read moremuch prefer to write positive reviews but we trusted these guys and they so abused our trust that I feel we should warn others. The Hillside Waterfront Hotel is not really an hotel. More like a poorly run Airbnb'? The basic functions of even the most modest hotel are conspicuously absent. At check in there was no one there to greet us, answer questions, help us orient to the area or even help us with our luggage. When we reached out for help via their phone number they were unresponsive for an entire day and when we followed up at the end of day our host chose this moment to make it clear she had more important things to do than respond to guest questions. Perhaps this kind of attitude is typical of Ephraim, Wisconsin? Other things to know: We booked a suite which turned out not to be a suite. Any seasoned traveler will know the difference. They told us they were in very high demand at the height of the fall season but the hotel was empty but for one older couple. Makes sense now. Talking of that couple we only noticed them because the lady nearly fell down the stairs backwards as she struggled upstairs with her bags. Only hosts who don't care about their guests would allow that possibility. The plumbing is terrible. The sink didn't drain properly and the toilet blocked on first use (Not our fault! We know how to care for older plumbing) and of course there was no one on hand to help us The house smells of mold. Old houses sometimes do, but it this is especially bad. Our room was infested with biting bugs! In conclusion, Door County is a stunning area and not to be missed. The same cannot be said for the Hillside Waterfront 'Hotel'.

The huge porch overlooking the lake was the perfect place for an afternoon glass of wine. The breakfasts were terrific! They also have a cabinet full of anything you may have forgotten such as toothpaste, sunscreen, bug spray, deodorant, etc. The breakfasts were outstanding! The owners are super friendly and accommodating! We can't wait to come back again!

It is right along Lake Michigan. Breath taking views and has a very private vibe. A great restaurant on the property. A small private beach area and an outdoor pool. Workout facility and a few trail paths. When we stayed a few weeks ago there was a wedding there and it was a little busy with all these guests. Our room didn't get cleaned on first day so we told the front desk the next morning and it really wasn't that big of a deal but they cleaned it by the time we got back and Stephanie Swain the director of operations left us a personal written note apologizing for the inconvenience and gave us complimentary bottles of wine! Such a sweet person and a great gesture. We love this place and so highly recommend! Some of the regular rooms in the main lodge face Lake Michigan and have cute patios. Very charming!

We typically stay in Fish Creek, but since we booked our trip only a week in advance, there were no available accommodations there. We decided on Bailey's Harbor instead, which is just a 20-minute drive from Fish Creek, offering stunning views of the lake, surrounding nature, and charming villages along the way. I paid $200 for one night in a Trailside One Bedroom Suite, which featured an apartment-style layout with a queen bed, a pull-out sofa in the living room, a full kitchen, parking, and a lovely view of the wooded trail area. The room was spacious and clean, providing a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere that was more than enough for two people. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with walking trails, stunning views of Lake Michigan, and a peaceful, secluded ambiance. It also offers a dock, beach area, hot tub, and pool, all surrounded by majestic pines. We were able to easily walk to the water, the breakfast hall, and other areas of the property. During our stay, we also noticed a small wedding taking place, adding to the charming atmosphere. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5-star review is the quality of the breakfast. It was typical of a basic hotel breakfast--scrambled eggs made from powdered eggs, cereal, coffee, juice, and so on. As someone who loves breakfast, it would have been a nice touch to have freshly made scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, which would have really elevated the experience for me. Overall, I'm excited to return in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor pool, hot tub, beach area, dock, and outdoor seating. I'm also looking forward to trying the restaurant on the property next time.

Even then, it seemed the place had few guests, and we were able to book just a couple weeks before - almost unheard of in Door County in late July. Service is non-existent. There was a teenager at the front desk to check us in -- the ONLY time we saw ANY other staff was Thursday evening when the bartender was locking up (at 7:00). No one made up rooms or exchanged linens - linen closet was left open for us to help ourselves. Sign on front desk said it was staffed ONLY from 9AM to 2 PM, but even with those short hours we never saw anyone in our four-nite stay. Restaurant is closed (again, PRIME SEASON) - bar is open only a couple nites per week, and then only 2-7 PM. No one available in case of emergency. Everything is REALLY outdated. Smells musty, with dehumidifier/air-conditioning units running full blast in both rooms of our suite when we arrived. Bathroom has been updated, but rest of the room is dark and gloomy. Window curtains are very sheer, so you better like waking up with the sunrise. Wi-fi is pretty weak, only one small TV. It was good to find a room on fairly short notice, and we had a very active four days with little time in the room, so it was "adequate" - but NOT someplace we'll stay again.
