Gordon Lodge is a beautiful place. It is a very well managed hotel but more than a hotel. It houses the lodge at the main hotel and has other individual small houses on the property. It is right along Lake Michigan. Breath taking views and has a very private vibe. A great restaurant on the property. A small private beach area and an outdoor pool. Workout facility and a few trail paths. When we stayed a few weeks ago there was a wedding there and it was a little busy with all these guests. Our room didn't get cleaned on first day so we told the front desk the next morning and it really wasn't that big of a deal but they cleaned it by the time we got back and Stephanie Swain the director of operations left us a personal written note apologizing for the inconvenience and gave us complimentary bottles of wine! Such a sweet person and a great gesture. We love this place and so highly recommend! Some of the regular rooms in the main lodge face Lake Michigan and have cute patios. Very charming! read more

My partner and I spent the first weekend of October in Door County to celebrate my birthday, staying at Gordon Lodge for one night. We typically stay in Fish Creek, but since we booked our trip only a week in advance, there were no available accommodations there. We decided on Bailey's Harbor instead, which is just a 20-minute drive from Fish Creek, offering stunning views of the lake, surrounding nature, and charming villages along the way. I paid $200 for one night in a Trailside One Bedroom Suite, which featured an apartment-style layout with a queen bed, a pull-out sofa in the living room, a full kitchen, parking, and a lovely view of the wooded trail area. The room was spacious and clean, providing a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere that was more than enough for two people. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with walking trails, stunning views of Lake Michigan, and a peaceful, secluded ambiance. It also offers a dock, beach area, hot tub, and pool, all surrounded by majestic pines. We were able to easily walk to the water, the breakfast hall, and other areas of the property. During our stay, we also noticed a small wedding taking place, adding to the charming atmosphere. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5-star review is the quality of the breakfast. It was typical of a basic hotel breakfast--scrambled eggs made from powdered eggs, cereal, coffee, juice, and so on. As someone who loves breakfast, it would have been a nice touch to have freshly made scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, which would have really elevated the experience for me. Overall, I'm excited to return in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor pool, hot tub, beach area, dock, and outdoor seating. I'm also looking forward to trying the restaurant on the property next time. read more

We stayed at Gordon Lodge on North Bay in Door County, Wisconsin. After a few nights there I was totally rested. In fact, I could have stayed much longer. The property was beautiful and it was huge. There were options to stay in cabins, houses, and a lodge. There were also hiking trails and it sat on Lake Michigan so you could Kayak or swim in the pool over looking the lake. There were also basketball courts and tennis courts. You could basically spend your whole time on the property and have your vacation there. We stayed in Cabins. This one is the Spruce and it's where Leslie and I roomed. The cabin had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, and fireplace. And we had a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan right out front. Everything was so quiet on the campus. It was super relaxing and I got two nights of fantastic sleep! I also have to add they have hot water and there was great water pressure. Not everyone talks about bathrooms and showers, but for me a hot shower is like a cup of coffee. I don't like coffee and I need the shower to wake me up. They had super soft towels too. This is another small thing that is huge. I can't stand small scratchy towels. These were big and fluffy They also had a buffet breakfast and a restaurant. The breakfasts were amazing! They had different buffets each morning too. I had such a great stay! read more

This place is awesome! They have free paddle boards to use as well as 1&2 person kayaks. There is a pool and hot tub too. There are tennis courts on site and they provide rackets and balls free to use. Kerry Rose the front desk attendant is FANTASTIC!! We asked her so many questions about what to do each day of our stay and she did not disappoint. My family and I literally did everything she suggested and it was amazing. She is so nice and friendly-- give her a raise!! The rest of the staff was great, but she really went above and beyond to make our vacation special and catered to what we like. I hadn't been to Door County before and wasn't sure what to expect but it's really nice up here. About 21/2 hours from Milwaukee, Gordon Lodge sits where the north bay and Lake Michigan meet (I think). This place is really way out of the way and stands 15 minutes from the quant towns but offers pretty much everything you need to rest and enjoy nature. The pool is littered with lots of little screaming kids so i stayed clear of it. The expansive property offers really nice cottages, and hotel rooms for a reasonable mid-summer weekend rate. On location is a nice dinner house with great west facing sunset views. The room was nice, clean, not terribly fancy but much better than expected. The breakfast (which was free) was your typical Residence inn style food. The eggs were pre cracked and bagged (nasty). Most of my food was cold and even the fresh fruit was "summer slimy". I really think this place should do better than serving cold average-at -best food. How about at least a hot cooked to order egg station? I def don't recommend breakfast- kind of nasty average cheap buffet food. Other than that, this place is really nice. I'd come back and stay in a cottage next time (and cook my own breakfast . We love Gordon Lodge and Top Deck, we enjoyed the privacy and tranquility of "Walnut". It's like having your own private lake shore nestled in the cedars. We've stayed on the bay side, in the lodge, and now the lakeside - we love to hear the waves washing on the rocks. We had beautiful weather to hike the 135 acres and guest only trails. Recently stayed here with my friend for a few days. Been here before and always have a wonderful time. Lodge is clean as are other areas. Very friendly and helpful staff. Each person given card to be used for complimentary breakfast each morning of their stay. Good variety of options of various breakfast foods,pastries, drinks and coffee. Different food options daily. The grounds on this resort are beautiful. Wr couldn't stop admiring the landscaping. Everything was very well kept. We enjoyed the tennis courts and the trails and were going to use they kayaks but the water was a little too rough. There is so much to do at this resort! Loved the 50's retro-esque vibe to Gordon Lodge, complete with orange carpet and a awesomely pink bathroom. It was nice and spacious and has a unique vibe to it. You even get real keys to get into the rooms, old school. Definitely incognito way up in the bay so it feels very up northy. Sunsets are gorgeous and the hotel breakfast is down right good. The bed+pillows could use a little work, kinda hard for my liking. The patio with table and chairs in front of the room is clutch along with the lake views. We stayed here four nights in cottage/cabin #9. It's in a row behind the lake view larger ones and that would be fine if the cars didn't block our entire water view! Plenty of space along the cabin to park so not sure who planned it this way!! The screened porch with fan was nice and cabin was small inside but clean Ways to improve... rod in closet ( only hooks), only one bedside table with lamp... add a simple 12" corner shelf! Every hotel should have 2luggage racks!! Toilet paper was cheap thin stuff. A small cabinet or shelf in bathroom too! We came during COVID so had no room service or maid service and had to go to lobby to get towels coffee etc. would be nice to have that stuff dropped off outside our door! WiFi is awful...not secure and very weak! Also included breakfast was nothing to look forward to. Property is pretty and well maintained. read more

Our time at Gordon's Lodge exceeded our expectations. The Lodge is in a remote setting sitting right on Lake Michigan. The surroundings were as beautiful as they were relaxing. My husband and I tried kayaking for the first time and got great pointers from the staff. We enjoyed the trails as well as the pool. The views of the lake are breathtaking and are also right outside our huge window. There is so much to do here, yet it's ok to simply do nothing and enjoy nature. The staff here are knowledgeable and very friendly. They truly want you to enjoy your stay. It's like taking a step back in time and sometimes that's just what you need! read more

This is truly a spectacular spot for an outdoor wedding! The setting by the arbor out on the point is fabulous. We used the kayaks to tour the harbor - very nice that they have the boats and bikes available free for guests. Food was good. We had the buffet breakfasts on 3 mornings, and they varied the selection of eggs each day. Try the beef hash - everyone raved about it! Appetizer service before dinner was OK. The coconut shrimp were excellent, the toast with blue cheese and walnuts not so good. The staff didn't have any napkins with them, which made eating the appetizers really messy. The filo-wrapped brie was a big hit with many guests. The wedding dinner for 130 people was quite good and nicely served - they had a ton of wait staff to get the food out in a timely manner. I had the beef filet, which was quite good. Overall we had a nice experience and would recommend it. You cannot beat the setting. My guess is they were still working the kinks out for the season as we were there the first weekend they were open, and when firing on all cylinders this would be a super venue. read more

Drove from Fish Creek on July 27th, to have dinner on the Deck and watch the sunset with my husband. Seated outside with empty water glasses and were ignored while the other two tables were being waited on by two different waitresses. Finally caught a waitresses' attention after 20 minutes. She saw us, turned around and went back in the restaurant. We got up and left. No way to treat people. Terrible service, will never return. read more

I want to live here! Right in bayside cottage 17, forever! Now the cottage is outdated but retro is cool, right? The place was clean! Like super clean! And that's most important. The view...gorgeous. The grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was fantastic! Everyday new things. This is not your typical hotel breakfast. It's like a big Sunday breakfast every day. We enjoyed kayaking in the bay. The complimentary bottle of red wine was thoughtful. And though we didn't get around to using them the 2 for 1 drink tickets was lovely too. The staff was always friendly and helpful. This was my 34th year in Door County. First time staying on the lake side and at Gordon Lodge. I found a new place to return to every year. I loved everything about GL. read more

I found this resort after researching multiple places to stay in Door County. Gordon Lodge is located just north of Bailey's Harbor. At first I thought we'd be far from any destination that we'd be interested in, but it was only a 10-15 minute drive to Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, etc. Very convenient and the trip to the East side of the peninsula was easy to navigate. As for Gordon Lodge itself, I can't recommend this place enough. It was slightly colder than some of the more touristy towns, just because it was off of Lake Michigan instead of Green Bay. However, the scenery was amazing. The resort is truly a retreat from the rest of the tourism that occurs in Door County. You can make a vacation just out of staying at the resort and not seeing anything else. They offer free activities to their guests - pool, hot tub, kayaks, fishing, bikes, tennis courts, outdoor games, fitness center...and more. We took advantage of almost all of the amenities, and we were very pleased. Definitely felt like we got our moneys worth. The overall stay was very affordable (we stayed in the main lodge). A breakfast buffet and WiFi were also included in the price. Staff was very friendly, and the resort was kept clean. The Top Deck restaurant was a great place to enjoy dinner without leaving the resort. Prices were a little high (as were most restaurants in Door County), but we took advantage of the nightly specials. We hope to be back to Gordon's Lodge in the future. Another stay, another really great experience at Gordon Lodge. This is a special place. And I think people read "special place" and they think that "well, it's a great location" - and it has that. It's a special place in the "sum of the parts add up to more than the whole" sense. I think in a world of constant news and noise, there's something almost medicinal to the act of going to a beautifully restored cabin right on the shore of Lake Michigan and ... not doing anything. There's a lot to do at Gordon Lodge, but there's something so wonderful here about the level of QUIET. Gordon Lodge even at its most full is an incredibly peaceful place. I think that there's a lot of times when someone goes on vacation and it's not relaxing because there's still a lot of noise - not here. If you're in the bayside cabins, they have a fantastic view of the bay and have enormous windows; it's almost like watching a giant nature TV - you'll likely see a fair amount of birds heading by, not to mention the occasional kayaker. If you look at the bay cabins, the reality is that they couldn't build them today where they are so close to the water - so when you're in these cabins looking at the water, it's less than a stone's throw. The lake cabins are somewhat further back, but these cabins still provide a great view. I've stayed on the lake side and I've stayed on the bay side and I've liked both a lot, but there's something a little more magical about the experience of the bay view and those enormous windows, not to mention the cabins themselves, which have been really well kept but really also feel stuck in time: there's a lot of elements especially to the bayside cabins that are the same as what someone decades ago saw. So you get a cabin that is very nice and very comfortable and there's something magical about the feeling of history there. Breakfast is fantastic - I don't know that I've been somewhere with a larger spread of various options. The breakfast area is quite nice, as well. There's kayaks, tennis courts, bikes all available. There's also a serious amount of trails, which are gorgeous and last - but not least - a very nice restaurant. I've said before that Gordon Lodge is kind of the anti-Door County resort and I mean that well - it's a very self contained place and I come here not as a base to see Door County but come here to go to Gordon Lodge. It's too relaxing here. Again, I think this is just a really special, kinda magical place. It's a place where you go to to just pause and have peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. There's something about Gordon Lodge that almost feels like it's out of a novel; it's just a wonderful resort. Some room thoughts: I do like staying on the bay side most, but the lake side is very nice as well. There are cottages on both sides of the road on the lake side. The ones on the lake side of the road do have better views, but you do get a nice view on the other side. Gordon Lodge also has hotel rooms with water views and while the rooms are very nice, the whole place does kind of make me feel like "the cottage experience" fits staying there more. There's also the trailside rooms, but I think for me one of the great appeals of Gordon Lodge is the ability to have rooms on (or in the case of the bayside cottages, almost literally right on) the lake. So again, can't recommend Gordon Lodge enough. Great, well-maintained and beautiful place. It's really one of those rare resorts that is really classic and timeless in a lot of ways. . read more

I give the ambiance and views of Gordon Lodge and Top Deck 5 Stars. However, the Top Deck restaurant has been disappointing. We dined at Top Deck three years ago and truly enjoyed our meals and service. We decided to go back this year, and we brought several guests with us. Unfortunately, we all did not enjoy our meals (and we're not overly picky). Majority ruled that there was a lack of seasoning. Portions are small and some of the flavors of the dishes were plain odd to combine. Our server was incredibly slow ... it took me 20 minutes before my drink arrived. Besides the nice view and atmosphere, we did enjoy our appetizer of puff pastry stuffed with prosciutto, asparagus, and fontina. That went quickly. Too bad we all left that evening unfulfilled and disappointed. I would go back just for drinks and perhaps appetizers, but I'd spend my money on dinner elsewhere (like Wickman House). read more

My boyfriend I were rescued by a wonderful employee named Keith. We first booked at a hotel in another town that turned out to be terrible. In the middle of the night we switched hotels and Keith set us up in one of the cottages across from the lake. It was beautiful. The whole property is a wonderful escape. I had a mixed experience at Gordon Lodge. The Good: the event space was nicely appointed for the wedding rehearsal dinner I attended there. The Top Deck was a suitable after party spot, although they didn't play any music, which was weird for a bar. The hiking trails were pretty nice, but not well maintained or marked; the signage was color coded, thus only making sense if you brought the map with you. The location is simply beautiful--right on the water with dramatic views of the sunset over the lake. They provide kayaks and stand-up paddle boards free of charge for guest usage. The Bad: I was in a Trailside Studio (room 1E), one of the few shared buildings on the property. The room was extremely dated and expensive; not a great value. From reading other reviews, this building may be an outlier? Bad water pressure in the shower, which was just a molded plastic unit (no tile or glass). The bed and pillows were uncomfortable and the sheets seemed quite old. No extra blanket in the closet. There was very little natural light, although my room was positioned facing the main entrance road so there were headlights shining into my room all night. The ice machine was right outside my door, with a hinge top which slammed every time someone went in for a bag of ice. I couldn't dial out on the room's phone despite following instructions from the front desk and repeated inquiry. I asked for a late checkout and was only granted an extra half an hour. I was never asked how my stay was nor if there was anything that could have made it more comfortable. Finally, beware of their extremely strict booking/ cancellation policy. I booked directly through the lodge's website, which was a mistake--my rate was $230 a night when booked several months out. I checked out rates through a simple Google search two weeks before my arrival--the nightly rate had dropped to $77 through sites like Hotels.com, Expedia, etc. When I called to ask management about a rate adjustment, they said that their hands were tied and there was nothing they could do because it was within 21 days of the reservation (which is written in the policy, true, but given the extreme disparity between the two rates I would have expected a more understanding reply). I asked again upon check-in if there was an upgraded room or cabin at least given that I was paying 4X what I should have, but they wouldn't budge. Not the best management approach in my opinion. I really wanted to like this place, and the location/ natural setting was really beautiful, but overall I was not impressed with the room or with the management. I might be back to try a cabin someday because I love Door County, but probably not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

We photographed a wedding at Gordon Lodge this past weekend and stayed at the lodge in a suite. Not only was the lodge extremely helpful and accommodating with all our needs for the wedding but Amy the coordinator was fabulous. Our room was cozy, quiet and very clean. The food for the wedding was delicious as well as our complimentary breakfast the next morning. The property is beautiful and there is so much to do on the property and surrounding it. Though we didn't get to go swimming or use to kayaks they had plenty to use. I absolutely recommend Gordon Lodge for your vacation or wedding. We hope to come back there and photograph another wedding there someday in the future or take a vacation there. We cannot wait to share the images we captured of Angelina and AJ's wedding. read more

Gordon Lodge is a beautiful place but it's the service of its employees that make it spectacular. My family was at Gordon Lodge recently for a wedding and we were completely amazed at the level of care and customer service exhibited by their employees, specifically Amy Starr. Amy is the event planner at Gordon Lodge and she made sure that every detail and expectation was executed perfectly. She went above and beyond by transporting my handicap father to pictures, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and to his cabin when needed. Amy also personally delivered the meals of some guests on site who had to miss the dinner due to unforeseen circumstances. I would highly recommend Gordon Lodge to anyone considering to visit for some R&R or plan their dream wedding. It was worth every penny! read more

Went to the Lodge this weekend for a wedding, and the views couldn't be beat. While of course I couldn't comment on the swimming situation (50ish degrees out and the pool was drained for the season) , there was a nice little beach and a lot of lovely views out over the bay-- really stunning. At night it's so nice and dark that you can actually see the Milky Way! The rooms are comfortable, and there are also lots of cabins. About four miles of trails to walk or run, and excellent breakfasts in the morning. Hope to go back someday! read more

We attended a wedding here this weekend. The mid century modern hotel has been fully updated. The cabins are modern on the interior but still cozy in the woods. Several levels of rentals available. I recently spent a week at Gordon Lodge with my family (three kids aged 15, 11 and 10). We had a great time. Gordon Lodge is situated on a little peninsula that juts out into Lake Michigan. It is surrounded by woods and is very quiet and relaxing. I stay in a lot of fancy hotels for business and so am very spoiled and picky when it comes to accommodations. Gordon Lodge's rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is a nice restaurant (a tad overpriced IMHO) and a great free breakfast buffet. If you're looking to just chill out and relax with your family, Gordon Lodge is perfect. We had a blast. And the staff were very nice and helpful too. TIPS: the TVs have DVD players in them. Bring some DVDs with you. Oh and the bar has wifi. read more

Pretty wooded area along the north bay and lake. Several shorter private trails under a mile each, about 4-5 miles total if you go around the whole property. Single and tandem kayaks to use in the surrounding waters, bikes available to use on the trails or to get to/from the larger buildings and cottages. I stayed in the Stonecrop cottage. It was roomy and had great views and though on the older side, it was well kept. The woman at the front desk was incredibly nice and helpful! Only downside would be the standard prices, which are on the higher end. And the coffee is not up to my particular standard, but that may just be me. read more
