Delicious new family run restaurant! We had the dumplings (manti) , bread stuffed with minced lamb (adana yogurt) with absolutely fantastic yogurt sauce, and the feta rolls (cigars). I've been looking for a good Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant in the neighborhood for a while and finally I found what I need. Not only is the food amazing but also the prices are pretty fair. I remember paying almost double prices at other Mediterranean restaurants and never having the food that suits my taste. I am shooting myself that I have not been here before. Heard it was good but the food surpassed all of my expectations. The honey vinegar sauce on the grilled calamari was so fresh and vibrant I finished the plate mopping up every last drop with the fresh warm breads provided to the table. The Imam Bayildi, a cold mezze with eggplant and a topping of tomato, pine nuts , onion and garlic was terrific as well. My wife had the Chicken Yogurt and I had the Beyti Yogurt. Great blend of flavors. Took the leftovers home, just had it for breakfast (could not wait for lunch) and felt compelled to write this review. Excellent meal. read more

While visiting Marymount University in Arlington, VA, my significant other and I decided to grab dinner at Maya Bistro. This was our first visit and we had a wonderful dining experience. We were greeted at the door by our waiter Mr. Mesut, who promptly seated us. The atmospheric affect was most classy yet comfortable. Mr. Mesut was most patient as our familiarity with Mediterranean cuisine is most limited. He patiently answered our questions and thoroughly rendered more than adequate explanation. My significant other ordered the baked zucchini and I had the branzino (sea bass). Both meals were delicious and seasoned to perfection. Went to this restaurant near closing time and the wait still staff was still courteous and seated me. Looked over the menu and everything sounded really good but the Adana Yogurt really caught my eye so I decided to give it a try. Boy was it a good choice! The meat was nice and Juicy and the yogurt and tomato sauce really complimented the meat really well. The meal had breadcrumbs at the bottom of the dish and added a nice crunch to the dish. Visited this restaurant just a few days after its opening. The food was good and the ambiance nice, except that there is no waiting area at the entry so folks were standing around waiting for their tables very close to diners. The host and server were warm and welcoming. However, the restaurant was packed, and they were not prepared for it. They were apologetic about the wait for water refills and the bill, and even comped an item for us. I think once they work out the kinks, the service will improve. Highly recommend! Delicious fried calamari, falafel and hummus appetizers. Mixed grill for two was very good especially with the addition of extra yogurt dipping sauce. Others in our party loved the shrimp entree, the Adana ground beef/lamb loaf and the tender Branzino (whole fish). The apricot dessert was fabulous and easy to share. Great food, ambience and service. Contemporary yet cozy atmosphere. Service was excellent. Attentive but not overbearing. Helpful in menu selection. But let's get to the food. Largely a scratch kitchen, the food was fresh, flavorful and interesting. We started with the hummus and baba Ganoush dips - delicious with warm bread that was to die for. Then we had the shish kebab chicken with Shepard salad - full of taste but light and plentiful, as well as the spinach pie which my son loved. Wine list is short but offers something to suit everyone and wines were good and reasonably priced. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back very soon. read more

Took my friend here for dinner, as her friend recommended it. It is mainly Turkish food that is served here. Seems pretty new and in a strip mall along route 29. The interior had a modern look with dark oak colors dominating. A bar sits on the back wall as you enter. The food choices were good. They have specials for 2 or 4 people too. We ordered Hummus, a Moussaka dish, and a Turkish thin bread pizza with lamb, onions and tomatoes. The flat bread dish was pretty healthy and tasty. it was well cooked and not too spicy. The hummus tasted fresh and had sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. My friend liked the Moussaka dish that came with a salad. It is similar to Italian Lasagna dish. Really excellent dinner and great addition to the neighborhood! We had calamari and beet salad to start and then four different entrees, all excellent. My kids enjoyed theirs so very family friendly and did have kids options for younger or pickier eaters. My husband loved the baklava and we also enjoyed the pear dessert. Service excellent! I'm always in the lookout for good Turkish restaurants and am thrilled that a new one has opened in Arlington. I've gone for both brunch and dinner. The staff is very friendly. It's a Turkish family and the traditional hospitality shines through, especially when it's less crowded and they have more time to focus on you. For brunch, we ordered the Turkish traditional breakfast to share in the middle of the table (olives, cucumbers, honey and jam, bread, beyaz peynir/feta cheese). It was simple, but delicious. We coupled that with Maya meze for two (there were the of us) and of course endless glasses of tea. That really would have been enough, but I wanted to try as much as possible and and there were some favorites on the menu. Menemen (scrambled eggs with tomatoes and peppers) was a tad bit bland, but still satisfying. The çılbır looked good, but definitely needs lots of bread to sop up the egg yolk and tomato/yogurt sauce. For dinner, we did the mixed meze again. I love the sigara böreği (maya cigars, I think), the roasted eggplant with pomegranate and the red pepper and feta spread. Friends were really impressed with the grape leaf dolma. Separately, I added mücver (zucchini patties). They were excellent. I could add a side of rice and make a meal of it. The güveç (vegetable stew) had the right flavor, but something was missing. I hear spinach pie is the way to go. Their tea and baklava are fantastic. It's not too syrupy sweet. I look forward to trying more when I return. They are still new, open about a month, but they seem to be doing well, have the service down, and are on their way to becoming a local favorite. read more

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The space is bright and pretty, service was very quick and attentive. Homemade pita bread with a little olive spread was brought to our table to start. We ordered two sandwiches (only served at lunchtime): the Adana and Kofte, both of which are beef/lamb based. The flavors of both were excellent, the Adana juicy and succulent, the Kofte patties delicious but a bit overcooked in my view. We each got the Shepherd salad as a side dish, which was lovely--fresh, cut to a nice size, with a nice vinaigrette. Our meal was simple but graciously served.
