I stopped by here for dinner Sunday night and I'm glad I did! They have a good variety of different options that I went with a build your own bowl and went with the chicken. The sauces were fantastic, can't go wrong and there are a good number of options whatever you're feeling. First and last time to Plaka Grill. It's a fast-food Greek restaurant. I ordered chicken souvlaki and was served a very small portion of tiny cut up bites of an overcooked meat-like substance that looked more like dog kibble than chicken. Tzatsiki does not come with the kibble, had to go back to the counter to order it separately. It was the worst tzatziki I've ever had. There was no fresh taste of cucumber, tanginess from lemon juice/vinegar, and bite of garlic and dill or mint. Instead, it was thick, heavy, and flat tasting, with almost no taste of garlic and dill/mint. I t cost too much for the quantity and quality. Love the souvlaki. It's my go to when I don't want to cook dinner. I have reduced my stars from a previous review because the atmosphere is getting "long in the tooth" as they say. For example, the light fixtures over the tables are dusty and the string lights strung across the dining area have very few bulbs still working. This lack of attention to detail worries me about what's going on in the kitchen. I'm not claiming there's any problems, but these matters do affect how I perceive a restaurant. But I know you want to hear about the food, so here it goes: the food is divine. I took my teenager for dinner and we got two different gyros. My teen got the Plaka which has pork and the typical toppings and then they add French fries inside the gyro. He loved it, I could only count carbs. I ordered the Chicago which seemed as a more balanced meal and it was delicious. The prices are competitive or simply put just right. It is just under chipotle and the food is better. We also ordered the Hummus and as many know, everyone makes hummus differently and prefer it also differently. For my taste it was just ok, I would have preferred a smoother hummus (less corse). Finding a good tzatziki nowadays seems challenging so I'm starting this review by saying the tzatziki was so good!!! Perfect consistency and flavor. The pita was so soft and all the dips were delicious. Personal favorites were the tzatziki and Tyrokafteri. The size of this spot is much larger with the decorations bring you back to the old country ... and it offers seating outside as well. And the staff (like in Vienna) is always friendly. I've been visiting this Plaka location for a few years now and I always have a great meal here. Recently visited this past weekend to use a birthday bogo coupon. We ordered the mixed grill after not realizing this was even on the menu. This came with chicken and pork souvlaki as well as bifteki (lamb/beef patty) and loukaniko (pork sausage) for about $22. We also got a side of veggies here. All of the meat was great, I really liked the bifteki and the loukaniko. I'm not a huge sausage fan as I hate the overly processed taste but this tasted like real sausage so it was good. We did order a side of veggies luckily because this meal did not come with any sort of side at all, not even a side salad, which is disappointing given the price. The veggies were $6+ which is a little steep. It did come with pita but no tzatziki was even given. we also ordered the beef souvlaki entree which was good as usual. The side salad was plenty and the oven roasted potatoes are always amazing. They're lemony and doused in olive oil and so flavorful. This did come with tzatziki. I went to ask for another tzatziki for the mixed grill meal and I was surprised when I was charged $1.48 for this. I would think an entree should come with a complimentary tzatziki, especially the mixed grill, but I guess I was mistaken. This was disappointing give. That we paid $22 for this and there were no sides or anything. Even with the bogo coupon, we still spent about $34 which isn't terrible but that means normally it would have been about $50 for two to dine at a fast casual establishment. Overall, the food was still good but giving 4 stars due to the pricing and lack of extras given with the meal. The interior is always nice here and the space is wide open unlike the counterpart location in Vienna. Parking is also easy with plenty in the strip mall lot. I had such good experiences grill chicken at Plaka Vienna, and yesterday I was craving for it and had to go to Falls Church cause I was at Merrifield so I drove 3.3 miles to go get some chicken, could have ate anything at the District Merrifield but I drove there. And guess what it is the worst chicken I've ever had. I went there around 7.30ish pm, maybe the chicken has been sitting for a long time? There were potatoes thrown in with the salad and hardly any dressing on the salad and the potatoes. The chicken was over roasted and I had no dressing to at least soften the chicken, not that is the supposed way but it's so dry. I was so disappointed because at my work place we always get it at Vienna and the last time which was last Saturday not yesterday, the chicken were delicious and I even had dressing in a little container which was enough for the chicken and all. I called today to complained but I don't think the guy really cared.. I told him about Vienna being better he said oh it's all the same. Clearly it's not the same.
