I've visited Mayari three times now. I first came in to take a few photos with my boyfriend. The photos turned out so great and I loved it so much that I brought two of my girlfriends in to take photos for their LinkedIn and dating profiles. We ended up taking some friendship photos together too. The studio uses one-of-a-kind technology to shoot professional quality photos in a self-portrait photobooth. There are plenty of presets you can choose from and the lighting and background automatically adjust. One of the best features of their system is that you have a live screen feedback that shows you how you look in real time so you can adjust your pose or facial expression. It also shows the photos taken right away. I learned so much about how I photograph just in one session. Also, you can do as many looks as you want! There is a changing area and mirror for you to change into different outfits. I was able to comfortably shoot 3-4 looks in a 60 minute session. Booking was easy and there was plenty of street parking. Merrick, the studio owner and designer/innovator is super nice, very informative and is there if you have any questions. You also get all your photos delivered to you via a Dropbox link the same day. Merrick even made a custom preset for us when one of my girlfriends and I when came in for a "Barbie" themed photoshoot since I wanted a pink backdrop! I was able to snag their promo special. We had such a great time at Mayari Self-Portrait Studios. It's super easy to operate the hardware, I loved all the different lighting options you get within 1 click, you can take as many pictures as you'd like and you see the picture right away on a screen which gives you instant feedback of which poses work and which don't. There's also no pressure as you can take breaks in between, and for shy people, it's a life safer because you can take your time warming up to the camera and try out different shots without worrying that somebody might be judging you. We went as a group of 3 and each of us took some personal headshots plus some group shots. If you come camera ready, there's really plenty of time to do actual shots and the price is great. The owner Merrick is so helpful and nice and we can only highly recommend the whole business to anyone who needs professional headshots but wants to do it on their own time. read more

What a great idea. Merrick, the owner and creator of this concept went out of his way to come in and walk me through the process even after my appointment days got mixed up (in retrospect, this appears to have been my fault). In any case, it was great to be able to book a session on short notice, as I received a belated request for a headshot for a press release that was going out in under 24 hours (new job). I was happy with the quality of the images and exceptionally happy with the service. The image booth itself features some pretty neat and quite intuitive tech, plus lots of different backdrops for different moods, etc. (I didn't experiment too much, as I only needed a straightforward big-company headshot) Pricing was reasonable and I had a Dropbox of my images in my inbox before I had even made it home. This isn't just a great idea for actors and such on a budget, it'd be a fun pro photo booth experience for a couple looking to take higher-quality images, or for social media influencers and potentially even those who just don't feel comfortable with a pro photographer who need shots of themselves. Only downside? The building's AC is tepid and it can get hot under those lights. Merrick promises he is working on a solution. Great stuff. Will use this service again. Really bailed me out of a jam. For $50 there's no other place you can get this studio level quality lighting and photos for headshots. Merrick at MAYARI greeted me and was super helpful the entire time. The studio itself is a one-person booth but with an insane amount of presets, backdrops, lighting setups and even an option to flip the side you're being lit from to catch your best angles. You have the option of a hand-remote or button on the floor to start the countdown for your photos, and the camera tracks your face and height to get the shot as well. Also just a crazy fun experience messing with the presets, I'll definitely be back once my hair grows out again. read more

Mayari was super fun! It's like a photobooth on steroids... Getting THAT many different background + lighting setups would've taken SO much longer in a traditional studio. Versus at Mayari where you just pick a preset and it instantly morphs into a completely different vibe. This self-studio is easy to use and a very fun activity! I recommend coming with a friend and to bring multiple outfits for your photo shoot! Merrick (the owner) is super nice and made sure we understood how to use everything before he went back to the front desk. But, if we needed anything throughout the shoot, he was there to help! There are no limits to how many photos you can take during your time slot which is great. My friend and I got SO MANY good photos. The photo quality is surprisingly very clear and it appears as though we had professional photos taken. (Attached are some of the WONDERFUL photos.) Regardless if you are a content creator, tourist, or a local-- this place is a MUST visit. It is a great way to make memories with the ones you love. In addition, since there are so many presets, this experience is adaptable for multiple types of photos: professional headshots to fun themed shoots! I will definitely be returning. I was interested in (and yet dreading) getting new professional headshots. I browsed Yelp and found a lot of photographers in LA but not quite what I was looking for. I came across Mayari and it was appealing because it is automatic and you are able to take your own self portraits. I am an introverted person and prefer to be behind the camera, so I was relieved to find this studio. Merrick is very helpful in explaining how to use the setup. Everything is pretty straight forward and I also checked out their Instagram and other client photos beforehand, everything is as described. We received a link to download our photos before even getting home. I booked 1 hour with my partner as a birthday present and we are looking forward to the next session. Oh my god! I'm an actress and even though I've done so many photoshoots in the past I decided to try Mayari because the price was really good... I'm in shock of how amazing the experience was. Completely taken away by the setup. I'm a shy individual who doesn't like taking pictures in front of people. After showing me how the equipment works, I was alone in the automated studio. I was able to experiment with different types of photo portraits. A perfect environment for someone who is shy, self-conscious, or awkward about taking photos. Visited yesterday w/hubby who needed photos for new work project. He'd already paid (too much) prof photographer do take some shots, & none were good at all. We were nervous about him taking his own pics & wondering if it'd be complicated, challenging, confusing--but when arrived, Merrick, the owner, was there to greet us & take Maarten thru the process--which was simple, straightforward & easy for even us boomers to understand completely! Merrick was patient, gracious & knowledgeable, & I ended up contacting my niece about using Mayari for before wedding photos. Also going to put on our Next Door cause we were so appreciative. A simple, straightforward, very reasonable cost for an experience that's often not. This photo studio is game changing! Merrick has preset lighting and backgrounds for you to choose from to make sure you get the perfect shot to match your vibe. I came here with my homegirl to take some fun photos and got so many good shots for Instagram - content for dayssss. You can see what the shot is going to look like before you take it and there is an automatic retouch to the photo when it's done.
