3/2021 Update **** After the initial install and a few days of use the door wasn't closing properly and Maya's came back and look at it and put magnetic closers on it but after a few weeks the door just seemed to be warped and it was determined that a heavy piece of material was needed. Maya's assured me that after the new year they would (free of charge) remake the door (as they stand by their work) and they would get better materials and change the door out. It is now almost mid March and after numerous texts no indication as to if they will honor their word and replace the door. They stopped even answering my texts. He's responsive, but we had some miscommunication. I was trying to get two wall holes patched up, one on the outside of my house, before the rains came (according to the weather forecast). The rain is supposed to start tomorrow and continue for about a week. I sent him a couple photos of the holes that needed to be patched, and he gave me an estimate through Yelp ($200). We set a time for him to come today, and I thought he would get started, as I mentioned the coming rain in my text. He arrived, told me it would cost $350 (instead of $200), and told me he couldn't get started today. This put me behind schedule, as another contractor had quoted me $250 and was ready to work. If I knew what would happen, I would have scheduled the other guy and had him start the repair already. Now, there's no way to get the work done before the rain. A little disappointed, but I'm sure he does good work. read more

This man and his family are absolutely the worst handymen I've ever seen. They tore my apartment apart, incorrectly installed the tile in kitchen and bathroom, painted the whole house in primer and left fingerprints and paint on everything they touched. They are useless. I had to have 75% of their work torn up and redone! Absolutely not to be trusted with anything. By law, handyman must be limited to jobs less than $500. This crook and his crew of family got $5,000 for wrecking my apartment. DO NOT USE THIS MAN FOR ANYTHING!!!!! read more

We are very happy with Audiel, his work and pricing. He completed a dry wall, ceiling repair, texture and paint project that allowed him to use his creativity and artistry as well. He set a time table for the phases of this project and he stuck to it which is impressive itself. He cleaned up nicely and protected our porcelain floor during the job. UPDATE: This comment about our review from the handyman is very untrue. My photos clearly show the damage. There is no excuse for this level of unprofessional work. We are out $1600 for the tubs and inserts and have to buy new ones as he ruined them. A good contractor would fix the damage, replace the tubs and inserts that they damaged, then we would pay what we owe. This person refuses to take responsibility for his poor workmanship. Worst experience ever. He destroyed our San Clemente Condo. He quotes low and the price tripled. We instructed him to start on one bathroom and he tore both apart. He doesnt give you a contract to protect yourself. He works beyond the scope of his abilities. He does not care about your property. He made copies of our keys without permission and kept them. We handed him a condo with brand new painting and floors. He did not clean up anything. He scratched and dinged our new door jams, he tracked brown sticky wax all over our floors that doesnt come off. He scattered tools all over every room that scratched our new flooring. He left piles of trash in our house and on our balcony. He did not plastic off the bathrooms when he removed drywall so now our entire house is covered in a thick layer of drywall dust. He removed studs in our bathrooms without contacting us. He chipped our new bathtubs and acrylic tub wall inserts so they are not usable. They cost us $1600 and they are destroyed and home depot won't take them back. When we saw 2 days of his work we were shocked and heartbroken. We obviously fired him. He threatened my wife, called us names and threatens to report us to the labor board and claims that he is suing us. He is mean and nasty. When we had a neighbor let him in to get his tools he refused to clean up and we learned he made copies of our house keys which we left in a lock box, he let himself into our property without permission, which is illegal. He never gave us the keys back so we had to pay $400 to get new locks and keys installed. Unfortunately we are forced to take legal action against this man to protect ourselves. read more

Audiel gave us a good estimate on Yelp so we scheduled to meet with him to go over the project. He was very kind and courteous during our initial meeting. Fast forward, we hired him but rescheduled the day of demolition and installation since we had not received all the materials for the project. I texted him 4 days prior to the rescheduled appointment date and he assured us that the day is good. I mentioned that I am confirming the day since it is a Friday during the long July 4th weekend and that we would not make long weekend plans to accommodate his availability. During the rescheduled day, he did not show up. I texted and called him and his response was that he forgot due to a doctor's appointment. We have already purchased all the materials for the project and moved all the surrounding furniture in the room to prepare for his arrival. I told him to just let me know if he's unable to do the project so we can move forward with another contractor and he said "well, if you can't wait." The bottom line is that my concern with this contractor was communications and reliability. Communications was slow and unclear, no written estimates which resulted in a miscommunications about installation cost of a fireplace mantel, and reliability was 50/50. My gut feeling was spot on in predicting Audiel would not show up on the scheduled appointment. There are pros and cons to hiring self-employed "handymen" as opposed to "contractors", and vice versa. There are also pros and cons to hiring contractors with licenses, certifications, degrees, accreditations, etc. Wink, wink... Many handymen/contractors we have contacted and/or met with are very busy right now since homeowners have post-pandemic projects. They were also busy during the pandemic due to home modifications to accommodate telecommuting. Consequently, they have an arrogant air about them and their estimates are incredibly inflated, just like home prices today. Their attitude, in our experience, has been a "you need us, we don't need you". Either contractors fail to return our calls, fail to show up for an in-home estimate, decline the project since it is not a big one, or fail to show up during scheduled time of project start. When business starts to slow down for these handymen/contractors, let's hope there is a learning lesson in the "you need us, we don't need you" outlook. That aside, professionalism and just plain 'ol good business practices need to make a comeback in this industry. read more

Now I have already declined other quotes, he says see, that why I need to call him. Thank you Audiel for the amazing job patching up drywall holes from a previous handyman that mounted our TVs, but left the holes... Audiel patched, sanded and textured the walls, with no trace left! Audiel came out to see the work I needed done and I was under the impression he'd be able to do the jobs that day. Even though it was my misunderstanding he reassured me that he'd be back a few days later and even discounted the price a bit because of the delay. Audiel is super knowledgeable and he can do ANYTHING. He was quick and super clean. I had him come to mount my frame tv and a reclaimed wood mantle. Both were mounted perfectly. He even hung my mirror above the fireplace securely and helped with the tv mount outside even tho I hadn't mentioned those jobs before hand. Bad things happen sometimes when dad is in charge. I was chasing my little girl around and tripped over one of toy sets and flew into my wall. While bracing my fall, I ran into my wall putting a 3x3 hole. I became such an eye sore that I needed it fix immediately. I got in contact with Audiel. What a hard working individual. He stayed in contact with me on a Sunday and gave me options on Monday. He said he can even come out on Sunday if I was available. He patched my wall! He wore mask! He touched up the paint too! Nice and friendly when all went well, but I paid him to fix the leak through the bottom of the windows, and it was awful. I couldn't even open the doors. The first time I called him, he said he was in Mexico and would get back to me. Of course, there was no international ring at the time and never returned the call. Auriel answered promptly to our request for some handywork- we had some Porch lights installed and a superb wooden handmade Box to cover unsightly pipework in the garden. We a very small issue with the wiring because we (at the last minute) changed the switch to a smart switch. Auriel came back within hours to fix the issue. Maya did three jobs for me recently. It started with installing a door thresh hold. Then they installed curtain rod and cleaned and gutters and drains in the yard. Finally they removed a long segment of drain pipe which is blocked by tree roots and opened up the blocked backyard drain. Over of all they did good jobs. The price is reasonable. Audriel is a wonderful and helpful person. I had a number of items that needed to be repaired at my house and he accommodated me every step of the way. I had a very difficult plumbing problem where my original builder improperly installed the hot and cold water and he fixed it for such an affordable price. I had very small jobs and because my children are on online learning, he had to come back and forth so we could all be working and on the online program and he did not charge me for each trip but happily worked with my difficult schedule, multiple dogs, guests. I was so grateful that instead of the expensive option another repair person suggested, he repaired my cabinet doors SO INEXPENSIVELY.
