Jim was awesome from the moment I reached out on Yelp for a quote request to install an over-the-stove microwave. For those who don't know, you have to be super careful about dimensions for over-the-stove microwaves if you have a tile or granite backsplash. Installers from places like Home Depot will not install them if you have tile or granite backsplashes bc they are not allowed to cut or drill into it. If you're trying to avoid extra work/cost you'll want a microwave that is exactly the same dimensions, but if you're broken one is very old (like mine was) the model will be discontinued and the newer ones appear to be slightly taller than my old one. When I sent a request for quote through Yelp, Jim had me send pictures of old microwave to better assess the situation. He immediately called and spent a lot of time educating me on how the installation would work and what I need to be mindful of when purchasing a new one. I took more measurements of old one, scoped our new ones, measured displays of new ones to confirm size, sent Jim more detailed pictures, he called and we discussed some more and decided on the plan and backup plan that would cost the least. I bought the microwave, he came the next day with his son and installed it and it fit perfectly! Phew! He even took the old one to dispose of it for me (for a small additional cost). So while the install wasn't cheap ($250, including disposing old one), it was absolutely worth it bc of all the prep/planning time Jim spent with me on the phone prior to try to ensure that everything would run smoothly and it did. He did a great job with the install - he was quick and efficient and did good work. Will definitely use him again when I need a handyman! read more
