I've used Orange County Handyman Services several times, for our two condos. Absolutely the BEST! He has years of experience, and knows all the tips for when things go bad. He's reliable, skilled, and honest. We had our garbage disposal stop working, even though it was only 6 years old, so I called a plumber, who assumed he'd be replacing it, and wanted $300 just for installation, plus the cost of the new disposal! Ed found a toothpick stuck inside, witching 45 seconds, and it runs like new! He also fixed numerous items at our place--at HIS suggestion within his 2 hours we booked! This was my first time requesting a handyman, so I used Yelp's comparison feature to get price estimates from several local handyman services. Within a day I got an email confirming that he can help with the faucet installation, closet shelf installation, and other house repairs I needed. He suggested some appointment times and it fit in my schedule. It also fit right into my request that he come within the week. 5 stars - Speedy. He didn't lag or waste any time getting things done. Before I knew it my list was accomplished in an hour. Then I went to the miscellaneous items that I didn't think he'd have time for, and he finished all of that too. No more small annoyances in the house! He also actively looked around and noticed things that I didn't even saw needed fixing. I've just been living with it. Well, he came and improved it. OC Handyman's quote was very competitive and after the appointment was scheduled, I received text messages to confirm and to update me on the arrival of the handyman. I found Ed on Yelp and was able to schedule him to come just a few days later to help me hang some pictures and take care of a couple small odds and ends around the house. He was communicative via email to set up the appointment and arrived right on time. He provided his own shoe covers (we don't wear shoes in our house, so I have some right by the front door for service providers, which is sometimes not well-received - but was pleasantly surprised that he just put his on without me asking about it). He was tidy while working and seemed very respectful of our home. I was happy with the final result and even happier to finally have those little tasks off the To Do List! He was amazing with my 4-year-old son, who was very excited to watch and see what "Mr. Ed" was doing. I totally understand that little kids, especially ones that aren't yours, can be super annoying, so I kept trying to scoot him out of the room or occupy him with something else, but Ed was very engaging. My son brought in some of his toy tools and Ed played along, letting him "help". Once our appointment was over, he also spent about 10 minutes of his own time showing him around in his work truck, which was chockabock full of fun tools and equipment. I hired Ed based on his 5 star reviews & he did not disappoint. He's a busy guy, so you might have to wait for a spot in his schedule, but he took care of business. He's fast, so make sure you've got enough tasks lined up for him since he's got a 2 hr minimum. I was going to have him replace a led can light in the kitchen (among other things) & once he showed me what was up, I had him replace all of the kitchen can lights so they'd match. I had to run out to Lowe's to get the cans, so make sure you're prepared with parts you might want replaced. Don't be fooled by the good reviews; Ed is a slime bucket. Initially told me it would take him 2 to 2.5 hours to install one single hole bathroom faucet since he charges by the hour. He cancelled on me twice last minute (at 11pm the night before and a couple of hours before he was scheduled to come on the day of). He only communicates via email so you can't call or text him so have fun with that. Also, he is very very very sensitive. He got offended when I asked him if he can still do the job with a headcold after he offered to. If he couldn't, I would have asked him to come out another day, but he took it the wrong way. read more

I needed my Nest wired smoke detectors installed (one at a very high height) and some other random tasks to keep my home in good shape. Ed was responsive and timely. He was available earlier than originally scheduled which worked well for me. He was efficient with the tasks performed. He cleaned my dryer vent, fixed lighting on my overhead stove that was never properly installed, made both of my doors in/out of my house close better and we discussed some further items for when I needed him to return. I consider myself pretty handy, but I knew I was going to need help hanging my giant new wine glass shelves in my wine shop.
