This sweet cafe tucked into sleepy Port Royal has so much to offer. Fresh doughnuts, sweet ice cream, and unique gifts; you can't go wrong here. My doughnuts are still warm and ready to be enjoyed on this chilly weekend morning. The cafe is clean and makes you feel like you stepped into a home. Thank you Maynard's!

Could not say enough about this place! The service, the adorable space and the DONUTS !!! I've gone back multiple times since this photo. The owners are the best!

Local owned ice cream and donuts shop in Port Royal. They make the donuts there not sure about the ice cream but I can say the dark chocolate ice cream was good. They also had had coffee and hot chocolate when we were there Good stuff: 1. Donuts were good - the donuts we had were less cakey more like a sweet krispy cream style. 2. Ice cream was good- not sure if they make it or order it 3. Service was good- respectful and attentive Not so good stuff: 1. Nothing Extra info: 1. A lot of Parking along the street- free 2. Beautiful walk through the older town 3. It is small inside -- seating is limited but there is some seating outside and a beautiful park you can walk to and eat If you want a donut or ice cream drop by and then go for a walk around the small town or park

    Their donuts are delicious

Whew! The donuts here are exceptional! I'd give my left arm for some of their chocolate that covers the donuts. Today I also had that chocolate on a brownie. Oh.my.word. Here is the deal: -they can and will sell out of the donuts each day. -Check FB for their daily selection before going. -They also have ice cream, Popsicles (locally made by another entrepreneur), kettle corn (the bomb.com and also made by another entrepreneur, macaroons, merch., and more I love that they support other local entrepreneurs and are super friendly. I got 6 donuts/baked goods for around $12. I feel like this is reasonable because everything is locally made. Oh, another plus? Veteran-owned! business!

Between two people, this is what we did not eat. Just an incredibly tasteless and dry red velvet donut.

We love seeing Port Royal bloom with new local businesses and Maynard's was one we hadn't visited. Saturday morning we were on our way to Bluffton so we decided to stop in for their donuts. The selection was meh. We ordered a glazed yeast donut and a glazed red velvet cake one. The plain donut was OK. The red velvet tasted of only sugar. The second I broke it apart so I could share the sweet, I could tell it didn't have a moist crumb. It was so dry, with no discernible chocolate flavor. For $3 a donut, we shook our heads in disappointment. No, we will not return.

I LOVE great donuts. I've had some of the best donuts in the world. In my opinion, Texas has the best, with Denver coming in a close second. THE BEST donuts in the low country is Maynard's Ice Cream & Cafe. a Cozy cafe, that has both HAND DIPPED ice cream, soda's, but UNBELIEVABLE DONUTS!! The hours can be tricky, so I advise you call to see if they're open. They're currently getting ready to expand, and extend their hours. You just want to sit down and eat great donuts. I've had donuts from a competitor which were good, however the mix wasn't just right. But, Maynards wins hands down! My suggestion, get a dozen, head down the street to "THE SANDS BEACH" and watch the dolphins as you're enjoying these great donuts! on my MUST VISIT LIST! Enjoy, CHEF GARY CURRY

Walking distance to some great rentals in Port Royal with delicious shakes, cones, and some amazing baked goods. Nice old time - meets modern conveniences/hipster vibe. As this establishment is under new ownership, do make sure to update the phone number throughout the web moving forward to avoid annoying the woman who picked up our call.

Stopped in for a little ice cream snack and iced coffee on this hot day. This place is so cute!!! The staff were so incredibly friendly and happy. I ordered a scoop of the toasted coconut ice cream and the banana cream pie ice cream. AMAZING. This little cafe is on a cute little road with a lot of restaurants and shops. So glad I stopped here!

I was not entirely sure what a "waffle pop" would turn out to be, but I ended up with two of them in an order, freshly made and topped with one fruit and one sauce of choice. Getting bananas with blueberry sauce was a good choice, one of many I expect. My strawberry matcha with boba was compromised by them running out of strawberry boba, but the regular tapioca balls did just fine soaked in a robustly flavored beverage. Their donut selection was appealing, but I simply did not have room. It would be tough to get out of there without getting a ton of sugar, and this place did not seem to have a ton for the more niche special dietary needs. However, it did have a lot of interesting messaging as a community space, with resources directed towards military families in particular, which moves me to look favorably on the place. And their stuff is delicious.

My web search for coffee found this place just a couple hundred feet from my hotel, opening in just…read more5 minutes (7:00). So I walked over. It was not at all what I expected in a strip mall near a chain hotel. What a cheerful place, the walls yellow, the windows decorated with big bright suns, the menu boards artfully illustrated, kitchy motivational signs everywhere. I was greeted with a geniality matching the overall vibe by a woman whom it was apparent was the owner. I complimented her on the name "Sunny Summers". She told me it was named after her two daughters. There was a young girl working with her so I asked her if she was Sunny or Summer. She didn't say anything. As it turned out she was neither - just an unrelated employee. I had only come in for a cup of coffee but I saw the donuts and couldn't resist. Many of them were outrageous sugar bombs - and beautiful to look at. But I settled on a more sedate cinnamon-sugar. Glad I did. It was fried to order then dusted with the topping and served not in a bag but in a cute box sized just right for the single. So when I ate it in the car 5 minutes later it was still warm, and fresh as can be. Does she always do this or was it because I arrived just after opening? Unsure, but it was a spectacularly good donut. The coffee, too, was excellent. Strong, no bitterness or sourness, and from a local independent roaster. The other foods mostly fit in the category of sweet indulgences: donuts with crazy toppings, "waffle pops", french toast. A few lunch items like panini. The burger offering was made with pancakes rather than the traditional bun! Now a few words about the proprietor. I was astonished by her outfit that left little to the imagination. At 7 in the morning! It was hard to keep my eyes where they belonged but I managed! (Sorry, I have no photos, for obvious reasons.) I realized later, when I did more research on the place, that this was part of her shtick, playing off her reputation as retired professional wrestler Lacey Evans. Before that she was in the Marine Corps serving in the military police force. An interesting choice of careers for sure. There's a board with prepaid receipts that the less-fortunate can use to get food. That's great. I wish I had known about it when I was there, not later during my research. I would definitely have prepaid a meal. Also, discounts for military and first responders. Not necessarily how I would do things but I know her intentions were good. The world needs more places like this. So a plea to anyone reading this: You may not be able to give up your Dunkin and Starbucks completely, as I have. But just try it for a month, or even a week: next time you need a fix check Google or Yelp for independent coffee shops, try something different, even if you have to go a little out of your way. You may just discover a new favorite hangout.

If you know, you know. The pastries here are absolutely worth the detour--and honestly, wherever I see a Paris Baguette, I do pull over. That includes locations I've visited in Northern California, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and even the one here in Charlotte down in Pineville. It's a bit of a drive for me, but when I'm in that area, I always make a point to stop in and pick up a couple of their delicious croissant-donut pastries and marzipan or almond croissants. That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Of course, I had to stop at this Hilton Head location--and I didn't come empty-handed. Food connects people, and bringing pastries to your host is always a winning move. I picked up three different varieties of their famous croissant-donut style pastries (similar to the well-known cronut): * Chocolate * Tiramisu * Mango And I added two large almond croissants that were beautifully filled, flaky, and indulgent. Everything looked fresh, full, and irresistible. The setup inside is easy and efficient. It's self-serve: you grab a tray, line it with parchment, use the tongs, and select whatever catches your eye--from baguettes to cakes to coffee drinks. Checkout was quick, Apple Pay was accepted, and the whole experience felt smooth and well organized. The space was clean, friendly, and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bottom line: Whenever you see a Paris Baguette on your radar, pull over. It's dependable, delicious, and perfect for picking up pastries to share--or to treat yourself. For me, it's one of those rare places that delivers the same quality every single time, no matter the city--and that kind of consistency is something I truly appreciate as a traveler and lifelong foodie.
