Great old time Lawn and Garden center . But always grossly overpriced. Sad to see them go, but longest out of business sale I have EVER seen. Why? Because their out of business prices do not even bring them to the Lowes/Home Depot level . So many people flooded the place hoping to get good deals (because there were never any before), but much to their surprise the sales prices were a massive 15% off (sarcasm). They should have gone out on a good note with some real sales but that did not happen RIP Mayo. read more

Great little locally-owned garden store that's been there since I was a little girl. They have everything needed for gardening from soil, tools, seeds, as well as a huge selection of potted plants out front, flower, trees, bushes, herbs. Everything. They also have a huge selection of mowers, patio furniture, mailboxes and the like. They're a little expensive - I got a flower window box for $15, and they aren't open very late, but the staff is friendly, they've got a great selection, and they're a local small business, so they're aces in my book. read more

Have a green thumb? This wonderful place has everything you need for your garden, at reasonable prices. Best of all, their staff seemed knowledgeable and offered good tips. Their "grass" seed grew 99% weeds. So disappointed and annoyed. I buy stuff from small businesses because they usually provide higher quality products, but that's certainly not the case with their "weed" seed. After overseeding my lawn with 15 pounds of their seed I then had to buy an extremely expensive new selective weed killer to get rid of the weeds. 2,4-D wouldn't touch the stuff - thank goodness for newer selective weed killers. Anyway, don't waste your money - get your grass seed from Home Depot. read more

Only in Bearden! I love this place! It is high and you can for sure find it cheaper, but somehow you want to pay more and go here. They are so helpful. Information about planting and what to get and even carrying it to your car. I get all my plants here and patio furniture and cushions for outdoors. They have a wonderful selection. I can find anything here. Wind chimes, fountains, outdoor flags, grills, lawn mowers. I highly recommend it, but make sure you go to the original Bearden store. read more

10/16/13 I took another chance on this store and had a much much better experience than I did the one frusttrating time from my prior review. I have been back several times since then and had a great customer service experience each time. There are several regular employees I have found that are very kind and helpful with whatever gardening questions I have when I go in. I still will never forget my one frustrating trip here but I am glad I gave this place another chance because they really have proven to me that they are willing to help anyone with anything that is within their power, and that means a lot to me. 4/2/13 I don't think I have had more vauge answers and blank looks from a group of employees under one roof in all my life. I have had better experiences at this store in the past but my experience here today may just have me going out of my way to one of the large chain stores next time I need help with anything gardening related. I asked three different employees for some advice on starting to grow strawberries, and the only one employee even had the ability to answer my question, and his anser was barely more than what I would read off of the sticker that is on the plant itself. One of the employees standing at one of the registers asked me "if I needed any special help with anything", I asked her a couple of questions about which of the several varieties of strawberries they had she would reccomend or what was special about each one and her answer was "well, they all grow" accompanied by a look that made me feel like I was the dumb one for asking such a silly question.. I'm sorry, but I've never grown any fruits or vegetables before and I am going to need a better answer than that! And if you don't know then offer to find someone who does, not just stand there and stare at me like I have a third eye in the middle of my forehead. Also, I should not have to carry a 10 pound pot around from the back side of the building all the way to the register to then wait to have it scanned to find out how much it is, you need to have all your merchandise priced, especially if it is a large heavy terra cotta pot that is outside and around back of the building. Their prices are not competitive at all, in my opinion they are fairly high, so unless I need something that only this place has to offer then I will be shopping elsewhere from now on. read more

Excellent customer service. I don't think I have ever been in a store with more helpful people. I left empty handed cause I couldn't find what would fit best on my patio. However I left with a feeling I would never ever forget. If you are looking for a store with a group of ridiculously nice helpful people to help you pick out garden stuff, this is where you need to go. They might be a little more expensive but they genuinely care about you! read more

We bought a new Weber grill for Christmas and Claxton Mayo could not have been more helpful or informative. He sent someone out to help us with the connection - on Christmas Eve! Then, he rode with my husband to the hardware store to get a part we needed for our older gas connection! This degree of assistance is so unexpected these days and it makes for lifelong and loyal customers. I went to Parts to buy a part for my lawn mower. They didn't have it. I understand that they can't have all parts so I asked them to order it. No problem. They ordered the part and said they would call when it came it. They did call. Good work! I don't expect all that much. When I came back to pick up the part, there were four workers at the Parts desk. One worker immediately helped another customer. The other three ignored me for five minutes as I stood there in front of them waiting for someone to help me. They all could see me. I wondered why they would not help. I looked at my watch. Then one of them helped me. Poor service. High prices. Bad store. read more

I will not be doing business with Mayo again! I called for quote on a price for lawnmower part. I was quoted $63 dollars. When I called 4 days later I was quoted $85.50.? I ordered anyway thinking that we could work out the discrepancy in quotes when I picked it up. The part was delivered to the wrong store and it was rerouted to the corrected store on the weekend. I finally picked up the part on Monday 9 days after it was ordered. When I arrived and explained the different price quotes. I was told if I wasn't happy the only resolution was to return the part, which by the way had a minimum, non refundable, delivery charge of $5.00 now added to the price that no one had mentioned. Now the price had grown to $90.50! Add taxes and the Total price...$98.41...!!!!! CAN ANYONE UNDERSTAND WHY I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH MAYO AGAIN! read more
