Visiting Memphis this week (week of Sunday 5/10/2026) for a recruiting trip for my $26 billion manufacturing company and was tired out from the previous night, getting ready for it! Am staying at the Courtyard by Marriott - East Memphis Bill Morris Parkway, and was starving! So, I ordered their Lamb Biryani, Spinach Dal Curry, Garlic Naan, Mango Juice, Basmati Rice and a Sprite! Wow -- this was the most delicious Indian food I've had in a while! Everything was so fresh, flavorful and served in generous, filling portions! Plus the level of spiciness was just right!! I have always had a good experience at Mayuri! The employees are very kind and attentive, the lunch buffet is good and fresh, and it always seems to be busy with no wait. It is open Tuesday-Sunday from 11 am- 2:30 pm for $13.95 per person. I always enjoy getting to try the different dishes. I would be careful to try a little bit at a time the first time you go up if unfamiliar with what you are eating! Some of the dishes can be very spicy and can be hard to tell at first. This dine-in and carry out restaurant is a hidden secret for the area. The food here comes out hot. The servers will take care of you. They serve traditional Indian food that was the perfect (for me) amount of spice. We ordered a Thali style of food. Thali is a style of serving multiple dishes on a single plate, often with rice, dal, raita and bread. We asked for some more orders of food to taste different dishes and they were so nice to let us add to our order. We finished with kheer desert. The ambience inside is calm and quiet with beautiful decoration. The dining area was very clean. I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends if they enjoy Indian style food. read more

Food was good, I will say that it was served piping hot had great flavor and the portion was generous. I was eating there at lunchtime mid week on my own and I have to say the Service was adequate but nothing to be thrilled about. I was seated. Wasn't asked or offered a drink choice, they just brought me a glass of water. Food came out in a timely manner. As for ambiance, there was no Indian music playing no Bollywood on the TV it was just really quiet. Honestly, the best thing about this restaurant is the price. The atmosphere is dismal and the service is worse! My husband had the Chicken Vindaloo and said it was completely lacking in flavor. I had the Korma Navratan and it was perfectly average. My dinner was $14.95 and came with dal, curried vegetables, raita, pappadums & Naan, plus dessert. You can't beat that price, but doubt we will return, mostly because of the service. We waited a good 10 minutes after we finished eating & still didn't have a check. Our server had completely disappeared. We asked another server & he ignored us. Finally someone came from the back & we were able to cash out. This place is as good as it gets for Indian food in Memphis, which admittedly is not a very high standard. Mayuri has been our go-to Indian place before the pandemic, but recently the food quality seems to have gone down a bit. It could be an effect of the pandemic with the staffing, but last two times we were disappointed by not so great flavors for Madras Chicken, masala dosa, naan, and gobi Manchurian- all of our previous favorites. This place is the place all my Indian friends love the best. So it gets that stamp of authenticity and approval. The workers here are very friendly and the owner is pretty cool as well. They list their food entries as either a la carte or dinner. Get the dinner, it's only $2 more and it comes with a bunch of little side stuff (see my picture) like Rasam, Sambar, Raita, Special Curry, and Spinach Dal Curry. I'm not sure if they do the same stuff for each dinner plate or if it changes by day/dish but it's pretty awesome. I went back with a neighbor and her parents to try the buffet and I kept up with my list! I've talked to the owner before and some friends and this buffet doesn't serve what we expect because it's from a different region (or something of that nature). Interestingly enough there wasn't any plain basmati rice, though there was white rice. The Tandoori Chicken is also good here and I intend to get my own plate one day (I tasted my friends and the buffet so far). I didn't like the Lamb Curry until I mixed in the Raita because the lamb tasted too much like goat to me and the spices on the meat were just not working for me. But the Raita balanced it all out. I love the Chicken Tikki Masala here. If you'd like a variety of things to try, give the First Time Special a try. It's got a lot of different things all thrown in for a very reasonable price (pretty much the same as the tikka masala a la carte). I visited Mayuri with my family this past weekend for my mother in law's birthday before a concert at the Germantown Performing Arts Center (GPAC). I thought it was a pretty good meal. We ate the chili paneer (good), chana masala (good), chicken biryani (good), and tandoori shrimp (for me, the shrimp got way too charred on the fajita-like pan, leading to pretty overcooked and burnt shrimp; didn't enjoy this dish at all). The service was good. The restaurant is sort of traditional and very casual. They had a buffet when we were there (they do lunch buffet 7 days a week and dinner buffet on Friday and Saturday), but we weren't sure we were hungry enough to make that worth it. The restaurant was pretty empty when we were there on a Saturday night, but it started to pick up a bit towards the end of our evening there. Overall, everything was fine. We went on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM. There was only one other person in the dining area. We saw a few takeout (or Door Dash or Uber eats) orders get picked up, and eventually another couple came in. We're fairly new to Indian food, so we needed help and recommendations. The gentleman who seated us and served us was apparently one of the owners. He was helpful with recommendations, and explained what the items were. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala dinner and Lamb Curry dinner. We received our food surprisingly fast. Everything we had was delicious. Portions were more than adequate. We went home with enough food left over for my lunch the next day. Service was excellent. We'd normally expect that, given the few customers in the dining room. But given the staffing issues that restaurants are dealing with, service can't be taken for granted. There is currently a 10% surcharge on all menu items, due to the recent spike in prices of EVERYTHING. The sign was posted on the front door, so we knew it going in. That may upset some people, but it may as well be there as reflected in the menus. All considered, we thought prices were very reasonable. We're not qualified to compare this with other Indian restaurants, but we were very pleased, and will plan to return. read more

This is my Dad's favourite Indian restaurant in Memphis and I can totally see why!! I came here with my mother and brother for the weekend lunch buffet and then again during the weekday with co-workers so I have had the buffet twice here and then got a Dosa from the a la Carte menu another time. I really like the mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet choices that are available here. The food choices are plentiful and the buffet really worked with my co-workers as there was such a variety of choices and there is something to please every palate. What I like most about this place is that the food is very homely - the taste is like something I can imagine my mom or me cooking at our at home. The food here doesn't have the slickness from other Indian restaurants like Saffron perhaps but that's why I like this restaurant so much more! I also like the change and variety of the buffet options. The first time I went they had Lamb curry which was delicious and then the second time it was lamb mince curry. Also both the dessert choices for the buffet are great! The Sago milk pudding slightly edges out the gulab jamun for me, but it's the converse for my brother. I was very impressed with Mayuri. Their buffet has a great variety and is perfect for sampling authentic Indian food. I enjoyed everything that I tried. The only thing on the buffet that I had tried before was the tandoori chicken. Here are some of my favorites: Spinach Pakora (think onion ring minus the ring. Fried onion with spinach and spices.) Chicken Saag (Chicken cooked in a cream sauce not unlike Chicken curry but no spice) Lamb Curry (Delicious and spicy) Mushroom Masala (VERY good. Mushrooms in a spicy cream sauce) I was very impressed with the variety but not so much with the price. Their dinner buffet is $11.95 which seems steep. They do rotate their dishes so they may not have what you had the last time you were there. This is good for variety but bad if you're craving something particular. We ordered a la carte instead of eating the buffet. Very generous portions of rice, nan, and tandoori chicken! I had a party of three, and we ordered family style, sharing the dishes among us. We took home as much as we ate! The tandoori chicken is quite spicy with an excellent flavor and very tender meat. We also ate a lamb curry and a chicken curry. Both were excellent. The samosas were served with three different sauces that were fun to try. Service was laid back but friendly and responsive. I typically eat Indian at Bombay House on Germantown. I prefer the rice at Bombay, but the curries at Mayuri are equally as good. The tandoori chicken is much better (spicier, more tender, larger portions) than that of Bombay. In all, this restaurant has become a strong contender for my favorite Indian restaurant. read more

Hands down, the best Indian food we have ever had! We have been visiting Mayuri since 2008 and now bring our children along as well. The waitstaff are very friendly and the buffet extensive. While other restaurant buffets have the small selection of just chicken curry and dal, Mayuri always has a huge selection with chicken makhani, lamb keema, chana masala, fresh naan, Rasam soup, basmati rice, tandoori chicken, mushroom masala, masala dosas, as well as housemade raita and a selection of chutneys including tomato and mint. The buffet can change up a bit so I'd recommend calling ahead to see if your favorite is on that day. The weekend buffet also usually includes the ever famous chicken tikka masala. The a la carte menu is just as delicious and fresh. We have tried the other Indian restaurants in Memphis as well, and while they all have their strengths, you just can't beat the food and variety at Mayuri. read more

We were able to bring in a couple bottles of wine which they opened and poured for us. The buffet looked pretty good so I went for that. Everyone else ordered from the menu. Tons of food.... Excellent food. I won't go into extensive detail as to what we had, but it was quite authentic and full of flavor. Good heat on many dishes but nothing excessive. One thing is service was hit or miss.... We had to go get our own menus for example. Had to ask 3x for our check. The decor is haphazard with dusty surfaces, crooked wall hangings, etc. My Indian friend informed me this is typical... That many Indians excel at the food but lack in the other business aspects of the restaurant. It was HOT inside as well... Overall it was quite good and we will be back. I ordered through a food delivery app - asked on three items to please include tamarind sauce, but not even a side was sent with the pakora. Speaking of the pakora - no thank you.
