    breakfast sandwich and reds
    Ned P.

We had breakfast here 2 days in a row, so there's that. Great food & service. Parter had a breakfast burrito the first day, declared delicious. Next day had the maple-bacon french toast and could not stop raving about it. I had the breakfast sandwich day 1, which was okay. Had the pancake day 2, which was enormous and super flavorful. Our obsession here is the potatoes, which they call Reds, although I'm not sure they were red? They were super crispy and seasoned to perfection - so, so good. We also took home some cinnamon rolls from the bakery, and they were amazing. Highly recommend.

Raspberry cinnamon roll- had to try a flavored one too!

I don't know how I haven't reviewed Maywood yet but omg, best cinnamon rolls you will ever have in your life! I love the plain sticky's, the original, and whatever flavor they have on deck that day just try it because they are all amazing! A box of 4 is huge and enough to share with a group! Freeze well also! The entire bakery is fabulous, a few gluten free items here and there, and the pepperoni rolls are to die for. On the other side is a full restaurant, and they serve breakfast and lunch. I've never had a bad meal over there and it's just home cooking! Go on a road trip and try maywood, thank me later !

    Highlight: Mushroom Swiss ($14.50)

Highlight: Mushroom Swiss ($14.50) Fries were hot and thick, but more on the soft and flimsy side. Thick meat on the burger with crunchy mushrooms and creamy cheese. It wasn't as moist as I would have liked, but it could be because I ordered well done for my patty. Hospitality: Our waitress was friendly and helpful in giving us recs for our orders. Honorable Mention: Good amount of seating with natural lighting from the windows, but they do get super busy during peak hours. Lots of parking at the complex it was in.

    Western omelette with a coffee

The omelette and coffee were pretty standard just what you'd expect from a classic diner. The place had a nice and lively vibe with lots of people. We were with a friend who's allergic to dairy, so we asked them to leave the cheese off a sandwich. Unfortunately, it came out with cheese, but the staff were quick to remake it for us without any hassle. We appreciated their prompt response and willingness to fix the mistake. Overall, a solid spot for breakfast!

Their special sub for the day. Very good

This place was so good, we ate here twice on our trip. We were headed from VA to Pittsburgh passing through. Stopped for lunch first. Breakfast on the return trip. It's a little odd. You order on one side and take a "number" similar to what you got going to a Ponderosas back in the day, and go site on the other side of the diner. Service for your order was fast. Everything else is self-service. I got the chicken sandwich and I have to say, it was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My son got the Sub Special for the day. There is a bakery here, so you can't leave without taking home some goodies, which we did. I would definitely recommend this place. Lots of locals are here.

Peach salad, no protein; peanut butter chocolate cookie
    Kristen E.

Minus one star for the black-on-black sign that both vehicles in our party missed; since cell service for GPS is spotty in the area, it's really important to have functional signage. Minus one star for serving everyone on takeaway containers with plastic utensils, even those of us eating "in." You order at the bakery counter, and then they bring the food to you. I realize it dvaes them the cost of purchasing and washing dishes, but it's bad for the environment and just feels so transient for a sit-down meal. What was good were the chicken sandwiches, the cheese burger, and the enormous peanut butter chocolate cookie. The peach salad came with half of an underripe peach on it, which was disappointing. I wish they had grilled it, or at least nuked it in the microwave for 10 seconds to make it softer to bite into. The menu does have some variety, and the dining areas inside and out were nice enough. Big flat parking lot out front. Single-use gender segregated restrooms by the bakery counter.

A nice ride from Pittsburgh. The food and service were both outstanding. The bakery next door is quite good too.

It's probably a straight 4.5 star, I'm giving it a 5 based on my experience. But it should really settle as a 4.5 once the whiny people show up. I ordered the country fried steak with a side of coleslaw and potato salad. They accidentally brought a baked potato instead, but quickly corrected it and told me to enjoy the free baked potato. :). I liked this entree a lot! My oldest ordered pork nachos for dinner and they were HUGE. My wife got a pork sandwich and she loved it. Youngest got a kid meal and he ate it all. Best thing was their beer prices. They had 3 buck domestic beers which included, everything domestic. Meaning, I drank some awesome micro-brews that would have been 8-9 bucks anywhere else, for 3. Service was great. They have an ice cream shop inside. I strongly recommend this business if you are in the area or are in Ohiopyle. We visited because the only sit down in Ohiopyle was closed on Wednesday. Not a bad drive. Great food, great beer, great service. Enjoy!

Despite it being in Pennsylvania, it throws off a distinct hillbilly atmosphere. The usual signs about Jesus, Christmas and, of course, patriotism were in abundance. My party ordered a variety of dishes and I opted for the roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Sorry to say, the food was just adequate. The beef was overdone and the gravy had the sheen of the bottled gravies at the grocery store. The mashed potatoes were the star of the show, however, as they were very good. The hamburger and pancakes ordered by others get similar reviews. It was a hamburger and tasted like one. The pancakes, being hard to screw up, were just pancakes. This is a cash-only place, so come prepared to be vilified for wanting to pay with plastic. The prices were lower than the norm but that did little to make me feel better upon leaving. Despite the dearth of customers when we were there, the service was also lacking. I had to seek out help to get a refill on my iced tea and we waited a while to pay...with cash. I can't really give this place any additional stars. Stop here if you absolutely can't wait to eat.
