After church with my brother and sister-in-law, we went to this local place just a couple of miles out of Warrenton. Small place with a few tables. Very efficiently run place. We were immediately greeted, and shown to a table, and our drink order was taken at the same chips and salsa were put on the table. I can't tell you the name of what I ordered, but it was a "special" with shredded chicken and Spanish rice. Our orders were quickly brought to the table. Mine was a more than ample serving, and I got a to-go box after I had all I wanted there. We didn't stay long as the after-church crowd from another church was coming in and waiting for tables. Walking into the restaurant it was a very festive looking place, but not very many people in there. It was around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It was quite an extensive menu with a lot of options to choose from. The food came out very quickly and there were generous sized portions. The food was the average typical Mexican spices which was sad because I was hoping for a little extra flavoring or spicing to match the atmosphere. The service was very prompt and courteous, but that may have been because we were one of three couples in the entire restaurant at that time of day. Most of the workers just stood around and were playing on their phones. It was good. But don't look for anything beyond just good. read more

My first visit to this restaurant was okay, the servers was attentive and polite. Appetizers were good hot wings and chips and salsa. But, the main course wasn't great, the rice was chewy and hard and that was disappointing because I'm a rice eater, the meal was okay , too much green peppers and sauce and very pricey. Due to the fact I wasn't very impressed with food I haven't been back, and if I do I'll probably go for cocktails and hot wings. On a Sunday afternoon drive, I stopped here for a late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised very good food. The salsa was lame, thin red sauce. No chunky tomatoes, onion or cilantro ..., I asked about the tamales, if they were home made ? They brought one out, to sample. It wasn't homemade but it was very good and the best I have had at a restaurant. Guacamole was very good. I ordered beef and chicken chimichanga (1 each) crispy fried good with cheese sauce, lettuce and sour cream. Beans were thin and sub par. Service was good but I was the only patron. read more

The food here has been good the two times I've tried. Both times I've called in an order and been a bit disappointed since they have no online presence so there's no easy menu to find. The owner has taken my payment both times but did not have on a mask or gloves so I do not think they are observing any restrictions other than social distancing with tables marked off so that you cannot sit at them. My mother didn't enjoy the but they tasted pretty decent to me. They always include a ton of warm chips and salsa which keeps me happy. read more

Small place, great friendly atmosphere. Stayed at the lake for a few days and decided to try it out after seeing the great reviews. Definitely a five star! I had the La Parilla which was steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas! My girlfriend had two cheese quesadillas and said they were so good and full of cheese. Also the fried ice cream was killer! We eat Mexican out quite often in the Triangle area and while not a food critic, we know solid mexican cooking. We were impressed with the Mazatlan in Warrenton. The restaurant itself was small but very clean. Appeared to be a family owned affair. Service was top notch and the food came quickly. I had the El Rio burrito stuffed with beef, chicken and shrimp smothered with a queso cheese sauce. It was HUGE!!! Possibly in top 5 best burritos I've eaten. Definitely will visit again. read more

My chori pollo was SOLID, and my parents were quite happy with their taco salad and shrimp and avocado salad. Here's the thing. The address that yelp and Google maps gives you is CRAZYPANTS. This restaurant is in a line between a Toyota dealership and a Shell station and a Cracker Barrel on Ruin Creek Road. Set your nav to go here: 205 Toyota Ln, Henderson, NC 27537. That'll take you to the Toyota dealership next door. Otherwise you'll end up on the bypass in Warrenton about 45 minutes out of your way. read more

Both Henderson and Warrenton locations are yummy. Only have used take out from Warrenton location. Orders have been correct and timely. Longer business hours than most places around town which is a plus. Owner is nice. read more
