Walked into a quaint and cozy looking restaurant. We are from out of town so was trying new places. We got to sit next to the fish tank which game me some lunch entertainment! We ordered the beef stroganoff and he ordered the chicken Parmesan. These are definitely not small portions. Everything was hit and fresh and looked delicious! Personal preference with my dish I would have loved some sort of seasoning and I did add salt and extra pepper and it was AMAZING!! My steak was cooked fresh and I should have asked could they have added mushrooms! His Chicken Parmesan came with 2 pieces of fresh crispy fried chicken pieces covered in an appropriate amount of cheese, his only comment was that the sauce did have a slight clam taste to it but he did enjoy it. Definitely couldn't finish it all. The garlic bread was ok. Nothing spectacular but good an garlicky! Our server was very nice and never left our drink empty! read more

This restaurant is very nice, cozy, and comfortable. I just love the ambiance of the dining room light fixtures and comfortable seating. The food here is very delicious. The Pizza is very appealing and appetizing. The chopped steak was nice and tender. It was smothered in mushroom, and onion gravy with mashed potatoes and a garden salad on the side. The clam chowder is the best that I have ever tasted. It was filled with so much favor. The chicken wings are nice and tender with a nice crispiness. My favorite entree was the chicken parmesan. You get two large pieces of lightly breaded chicken with your order. Very filling. I added grilled shrimp to this entree. It was smothered in so much cheese. Perfect for a cheese lover like myself. The angel hair spaghetti was cooked just right. This dish is so delicious it is hard to put your fork down. George's is a great restaurant for great food. Traveling on Rt 85 we found this little gem! Very cozy and clean, super friendly and efficient staff. The food was extremely fresh. Rib eye sandwich was tender and the bun was super fresh. Switched out the turkey in "Maria's sandwich and had a beautiful grilled chicken breast on rye with cheese, tomato, fresh spinach and pesto. Home cut chips were divine! Always go local- fresh, healthy and good for the community. Five stars!!! read more

The Georges signature salad use to be full of spinach and other greens. The spinach was not on my last salad. I always add salmon. This salad was 24.00 a few months ago. Tonight I paid 27.00. Disappointed in the price increase and diminishing quality. At least put the spinach in it. read more

The service was sub par with really young adults who were uncomfortable in the role as a server. We were seated quickly which was a plus but the room we were in was loud and echoing the voices of the tables around us. The food was certainly edible but was not high quality. It is unfortunate that this is one of the few non-chain restaurants in the area as I wouldn't visit this establishment again. read more

The Chicken Parmesan is very good and they give you a huge portion. Everything we had there was good, and the staff was very friendly.

The calzone is fantastic. The crust is buttery yet crispy and warm. The amount of toppings was a great addition. George's never disappoints

Sorry to be Debbie Downer here but I saw all the good reviews and gave this place several good tries and just found it to be mediocre. Sometimes service is great sometimes it's really terrible. Same with the food had a really good pizza, a so so hamburger another time and pasta dish that wasn't half bad. I've been here probably 10 times and it really is hit or miss. Now days I just call in a order and eat at home. At there if I want a tea refill I can get up and get it myself. I wasn't kidding the pizza is about the only they they can manage to do well on a consistent basis. The servers are probably the worst and the reason I don't eat in anymore which is 20% cheaper for me anyway. read more

2 stars is a gift. This place years ago had great food epically the beef tips. But they shipped the chief to manager to Henderson location and now well there went the beef tips. We ate their 8/23/24, the meat or tips were not grilled they had be boiled and had no taste to them then all they did was cover them in gravy mushroom and onion which you could tell had been sitting awhile. The food was warm barely warm at best. Why is it when restaurants start they are great with service and quality of food, but the minute they expand they loose site of what made them so good. How sad. Been in the restaurant business before many moon's ago and I know if it hard work. But the longer you are in business the easier it should get. At least it did for me. One of my favorite restaurants, food is absolutely amazing and if you have a preference or dietary restriction they are always willing to fix it. The service is amazing, everyone is so sweet and friendly. The atmosphere of the place is very welcoming, the decor and lighting make it very relaxing. My favorite part is the huge fish tank. It's a great look inside with the round fish tank in the middle of the dining area, floor to ceiling, and the garden ivy look around the ceiling perimeter... very nice decor! The grilled chicken was very delicious as was the steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. The tsatsiki sauce was good but not what I'm used to, taste-wise, so I went with the Ranch dressing the server brought just because she likes it better. Speaking of the server, Shayna (hope I spelled that correctly!) was awesome! She was lively, friendly, interactive and very helpful with questions about the menu! You'd think she liked her job or something! :-) As I mentioned above, she said she really liked the chicken with the Ranch dressing so she brought some to our table... she's right.. it's great together! We just moved here and everyone said go to George's It was a Sunday and we went. When we walked in we were confused.... The decorations were a weird mix of Italian and Mexico and India. We didn't know what to expect. So we went ahead and ordered. Was not impressed. The food was just food. The waitress was kind. Probably won't go there again. read more

This is our go-to place when we meet family who live in the area. George's is always great. We had a large group of 9, and they were able to accommodate us quickly. Our waitress was fantastic! Drinks were always filled, she was so nice, and had great recommendations. Of our group's order, the pizza was amazing, chicken parm was delicious (huge portion!), and subs were great as well. The only dish I wouldn't recommend is the steak (pricey for a cheaper cut of meat). Thanks also for letting us stay and catch up with family - we were the last people out of the restaurant. Great local place for a quick bite. Really good for families maybe not so much for couples. My wife and I have gone a few times and the food and drinks was always good. The service was also good each time. The issue we had was the waitress spent too much time talking to us or the other guest and she was loud. We went each time for a mini date and got as much face time with each other as with the waitress. She was nice and super friendly but we could have used a little less of her. Last Tuesday the 5 of my family in town for a wedding tried George's and very impressed with their food and their service. The baby back ribs were fall off the bone delicious. The chicken dish my sister had A #1, Flounder A#1 for sister in law and the brothers pasta dish was superb. We recommend George's for a high quality dinner to everyone. read more

I was starving and it was a Thursday night, about 7:15 at night. I was in the mood for lasagna so I called Uptown 101 who have really good lasagna to see if they had it (normally it's a special, not a regular menu item) and they didn't. I then called Milano's, a place I haven't gotten food from in years, but they didn't pick up the phone. Then I remembered George's. Despite it always seeming to be a popular place I've heard good things about, I've never eaten there. I pulled up their website and discovered they not only had lasagna, they had online ordering, which I prefer. But I soon realized their ordering system on their website is their own. They don't use a 3rd party system like many restaurants. At first this seemed fine as the design was well done, but when it came to check out after completing my order I discovered I had to register for an account. This seems obsessive. Why not just allow guest check out? Every other restaurant does. So I registered and went to login but it wouldn't let me. There was no error message. I went to re-register but it said my e-mail was taken, but that meant it did go through. After a frustrating few mins I gave up and decided to call. Note: Later I received an e-mail asking me to confirm my e-mail address to complete registration. Again, why is this necessary to order food from a restaurant? Regardless, it came way late. When I called they answered promptly. I told them I wanted the lasagna and she said it came with a side salad and asked what dressing I wanted. I should note that on the website there were options to upgrade the salad and add a protein, both of which I'd done on the website, but she did not give me any such options. I was so hungry and over it by this point I just left that stuff off. "It'll be about 40-45 mins" she said. 40-45 minutes!? Sheesh! I know this place is popular but wow. I can't think of another restaurant in all of Oxford that takes this long. It was also expensive at almost $19 for some lasagna and a little salad! Nevertheless, I waited 40 mins, showed up and it was ready. I will say the staff were friendly. I got my food and went home. The verdict? The lasagna was... fine. It wasn't anything special. It was a good portion, but not worth $19 and waiting almost 40 mins to get it. The side salad was fresh and...a side salad. Nothing special. Honestly, the best part about the meal was the balsamic vinaigrette. It was flavorful with a great consistency. I don't know if they get it out of a bottle or it's house made, but they should be proud of that if the latter. I didn't try the garlic bread. Would I go back? Probably not. At least not for the lasagna. If you want a really good lasagna, I recommend the one from Uptown 101. They don't always have it, but when they do it's on special. It's better tasting, the same or slightly bigger portion size and a lot less expensive. It also comes with a side salad.... and it won't take 40 minutes for it to be ready either. read more

Clean family restaurant with friendly staff. We arrived about 8pm on a Sunday (they are open until 9:30) and were told they were out of prime rib, fries, & sweet potatoes. We ordered the ribeye med rare & the steak was cooked & seasoned just right, but one had a massive chunk of fat. The vegetables were an odd mix of green beans, yellow carrots, bell peppers & broccoli, but tasted fine. Baked potato was very good, as were the sautéed mushrooms. This restaurant was recommended by locals, and we can see why. The staff referred to the regular patrons by name, and went above & beyond for them. It was nice to see. read more

On our way home from Washington DC we stopped off here on the recommendation of the hotel concierge. We had the mozzarella cheese sticks to start. They were very good and were enough for the four of us to have two a piece. My children had the calamari, my wife had the clam chowder and wedge salad, and I had the personal pizza. All were very good. My wife and I had two drinks from the bar that were on special: Long Island ice tea and a peach blossom. Both were excellent and did not skimp on the alcohol. We also had dessert: lemon cello (amazing, so much better than Olive Garden's), cheesecake, and ice cream. I really wish we were staying in the area longer so we could try more items on the menu. When I heard the owner of George's had bought Pergamon's Restaurant in Creedmoor, I decided I needed to take my bride out for a drive to Oxford and try this place out. First impressions: Parking lot is unfinished on the south side. My car sits very low and when I started to come up on that drop that leads to extra parking on the back side of the restaurant, I wisely thought better of it. My car would have bottomed out and suffered a few grand worth of damage. More First impressions: The place was packed with a line just about out the door on a Friday night. Good sign? The wait was about 20 minutes (and the estimate was accurate). Once seated things were a little slow but only because my bride couldn't decide on what she wanted off the menu. She wanted the prime rib special for two, but I was in the mood for some seafood so she took a bit more time to peruse the menu, sending our server away a couple times to come back later. Drinks, however, came out quickly. The clam chowder is excellent, but might not be worth the price tag for the very small bowl. The flounder was battered and seemed to be pan fried, but it was supposed to have crab on it. Unfortunately, the kitchen was out of crab and I did not find this out until the fish arrived. They made up for the crab with some grilled shrimp which also went very well with the flounder and made a small adjustment my check to make up for the snafu. Overall, I'm looking forward to their new restaurant opening in Butmoor (Butner-Creedmoor) in the near future. read more
