I dont always get my haircut by the same person, but I love the convenience of booking on Yelp and…read morethe consistent quality fron everyone I've seen. I've been going here for years and its always been a smooth experience and the salon itself is clean and friendly environment. To be frank, my hair is losing the battle against baldness. But for a while, this place has helped me feel comfortable and helped me approach thinning hair with dignity. My time for haircuts may be coming to a close soon, but for my fellow man who still has a head of hair, please check this place out.

WAY TOO OVERPRICED…read more Their price for A haircut is $45.00 the problem is I didn't receive a quality haircut to justify the price. I am not saying they aren't capable (for more complex stuff like clean fades etc. I highly doubt it) I'm leaving on vacation in a couple weeks and my hair was getting long, so I thought I'd get just a "simple trim" and go to one of those lower end Asian owned haircut shops and was hoping to find a haircut in the $20-$30 range. Then I would've gone to my own barber right before vacation to get me looking my best. ( he charges $60 but his price is justifiable) That was the plan. It wasn't my plan to pay $45 for a haircut that really should be in the range of $20-25. The haircut is alright I don't have a problem with it, but I also didn't give the individual (who was plenty nice by the way) any hard task. I asked for a "simple trim" knowing by doing that I'd lower the chances of getting a botched haircut instead of if for example had I asked for like a specific fade style (never expect that to come out good in these types of spots!) she asked how I wanted the sides so I told her to clean it up just a bit. Like I said I didn't get a botched haircut, but I paid way more then what that haircut is worth And im fully aware it is partially my fault that I didn't ask the price ahead of time. But still don't charge people that amount when your quality doesn't justify the amount. I always tip even for haircuts, this time I didn't since I was already robbed with the price

Really happy with my haircut at Essence Salon with Yessenia!…read more Booked a haircut appointment with Yessenia through the website for a Tuesday afternoon. I asked for a rounded haircut with lots of layers and face-framing pieces and I showed her my inspo photos as well. She first washed my hair and then got started on the cut. Yessenia did an amazing job! She was friendly and professional and gave me exactly what I requested. I wasn't sure whether to go with lighter or heavier curtain bangs/face-framing pieces, and she knew exactly what would suit me when she suggested sticking with lighter face framing. She also somehow managed to style my frizzy Indian hair perfectly without using much tension on the brush, which was shocking to me. Overall, I had a very positive experience with Yessenia and Essence Salon and will definitely be returning!

I've been on the hunt for a new hair stylist, and Grace is truly that girl! From the start, she…read morelistened carefully to every detail I shared and took the time to go through my inspiration photos with me, making sure we were on the same page before she even picked up the scissors. I originally booked this appointment last minute after another stylist canceled on me the day before a trip - and honestly, I'm so grateful that happened, because I would've never found Grace otherwise. Sometimes things really do work out the way they're supposed to. She absolutely killed my haircut. I have curly/wavy, thick hair, and she knew exactly how to work with it - something that's hard to find. The shape, the movement, everything came out better than I imagined. Also, the vibe was amazing - super welcoming, relaxed, and just overall such a great energy the entire appointment. Grace is also genuinely so sweet, which made the whole experience even better. Safe to say Grace is officially stuck with me as a client. Highly recommend her if you're looking for someone who really knows what they're doing, actually listens, and creates an amazing overall experience.

I am one of the pickiest clients when it comes to hair stylists. My ex used to be a stylist in…read moreBeverly Hills, so the bar has been pretty high for many years. I used to drive from San Jose to SF every time I got my hair cut at Bao Bao on Market when I first moved up from LA. After I grew tired of the traffic getting into SF during weekday mornings, I started scouting some local South Bay salons for a suitable replacement. I found a place called Kittiez. At some point, the name of the business was changed to K-Studio and the owner Kayla moved on to other ventures. I continued going back because there were still a couple stylists there that I trusted with my hair. They moved from their El Camino and Fair Oaks location to Salon Republic off of Murphy Ave in downtown Sunnyvale. It's all about the stylist, and in this case, I've been getting my hair cut by Paulina for a few years now and I've always been pleased with the results. She's super nice and down-to-earth. It is a bit hard to make an appointment on short notice, usually need at least 2-4 days in advance. This is because there are only two stylists working there at this point. But if you know this ahead of time when you book your appointment, you shouldn't be disappointed.

It's tough to find a good barber in the Bay area…read more So many barbers seem to think that a fade means shaving your entire side, or that a taper means to only clean up the lines on your sides and back. I've tried more expensive barbershops like 18|8 but was still unsatisfied with the results. Then I found Ann. Ann is awesome. She consistently cuts my hair well and remembers my style. She even offers suggestions on different ways that I can change my hairstyle. I'm very happy with her and the general haircut is still cheaper than places like 18|8 or Paradox Barbers. I highly recommend her if you're in the Bay and need a nice cut.
