I am one of the pickiest clients when it comes to hair stylists. My ex used to be a stylist in Beverly Hills, so the bar has been pretty high for many years. I used to drive from San Jose to SF every time I got my hair cut at Bao Bao on Market when I first moved up from LA. After I grew tired of the traffic getting into SF during weekday mornings, I started scouting some local South Bay salons for a suitable replacement. I found a place called Kittiez. At some point, the name of the business was changed to K-Studio and the owner Kayla moved on to other ventures. I continued going back because there were still a couple stylists there that I trusted with my hair. They moved from their El Camino and Fair Oaks location to Salon Republic off of Murphy Ave in downtown Sunnyvale. It's all about the stylist, and in this case, I've been getting my hair cut by Paulina for a few years now and I've always been pleased with the results. She's super nice and down-to-earth. It is a bit hard to make an appointment on short notice, usually need at least 2-4 days in advance. This is because there are only two stylists working there at this point. But if you know this ahead of time when you book your appointment, you shouldn't be disappointed. read more

It's tough to find a good barber in the Bay area. So many barbers seem to think that a fade means shaving your entire side, or that a taper means to only clean up the lines on your sides and back. I've tried more expensive barbershops like 18|8 but was still unsatisfied with the results. Then I found Ann. Ann is awesome. She consistently cuts my hair well and remembers my style. She even offers suggestions on different ways that I can change my hairstyle. I'm very happy with her and the general haircut is still cheaper than places like 18|8 or Paradox Barbers. I highly recommend her if you're in the Bay and need a nice cut. read more

The best barbershop that I've been to! They recently changed their store name, but it's the same people that I know and will continue to for my haircuts. I've had great cuts from Kris, Ann, and Kayla, however the entire shop has skilled barbers. They cut your hair well and they do it quickly! I had scheduled an appointment a month in advance for a haircut that was unfortunately cancelled by K-STUDIO with less than 24 hours before my planned haircut. I attempted to call to reschedule or find out more information but was put on a long hold and after a while felt forgotten and hung up. I tried to call back multiple times afterwards but was never able to reach anyone. I understand that unexpected things may occur, but the reason I was given for the last minute cancelation is something normally planned in advance. If the stylist I requested would no longer be available due to a planned leave why would I only be notified less than a day in advance, or even be able to schedule a haircut with her over a month prior? I have been to K-STUDIO twice before but cannot see myself returning due to this experience. read more

Great service with how friendly Tay D, but this is the worst haircut I've ever received and I haven't had short hair for even a year yet. But wow, I'm shocked. I was surprised when Tay D first didn't wet my hair at all before cutting it at all and then he styled it a way I didn't want and cut it that way after I told him what I wanted. Although he was friendly, I would rather have a haircut that is what I came in for. Not only did my request for a mid-fade not happen at all meaning he couldn't fade at all, but he put a gash above my ear and I didn't see it until I was in the car on my way leaving the place. I had to turn my car around and go back because the haircut was $30 for a non fade plus tip, I was floored. So I went back and had him try to fix it and just shave off my sideburns but it's not even around my head at all and will not faded. It's awful, thank god it will grow back in 2 weeks. But make sure he doesn't cut your hair unless you have 1 number all the way around. Oh and the clippers he used hurt my head and was appalled by the lack of skill or knowledge with the "end" result. Tldr: Go to A plus haircuts for men down the street. Long review: Ended up with an extremely bad haircut (done in 10 min at closing time). Had sections of hair which are 3-4 inches longer and don't blend. I didn't get time to come back for 10 days. Came in to get a small section on the left blended and was told I will be charged $30 for it. This is the second time they have missed sections of hair. The first time was fixed for free. Not worth the time effort given the price. Stay away. BTW: This is not the same management as the original Kittiez salon which was here. read more

I've been going here for almost two years since it was Kittiez, and I always come away with a great cut! The service is excellent, just make sure to be on time for your appointments. I used to get my cuts by Paulina so I'm sad she left, but I still always get a great haircut from Kris or Ann. If I could give less I would! By far the worst place if you know anything about quality barbering. Worst fades and lack for better word stylist/barbers that cannot follow directions on cutting hair. Been coming here regularly before they changed their name(formally known as Kittiez). I mostly get a haircut, and on some occasions, a straight razor shave. This place does take walk-ins, but it is best to make reservations. I usually try to schedule with Ann because she knows how to cut and style my hair. With all the times I have went to her, she has done excellent work. My only gripe about K-Studio is the location, more specifically, the parking lot. Since it shares the lot with Happy Lemon and a Subway, it can get full at certain times. Overall, I highly recommend this place. read more

I know Ann, Paulina and Ariel, all are nice people and doing a great job making me look good. I highly recommend using their online booking system instead of trying to walk-in. I've always wondered why some salons charge less than others, now I know why. My work-place is 40miles out from where I live and I needed a place to get my haircuts on the way home, somewhere close; a "quick hair-cut stop" if you will. I found K-STUDIO using google maps after scrolling through so many barbers and salons near me. After about 30minutes I found my self looking at the closes and cheapest one on the list(I can't stress CHEAP enough). I called, made an appointment, and after work headed for the shop. Upon arrival I was greeted at the door, nice. Place looked clean, always good. The barbers were respectful and responsive, so far so good. At last, I was called over to my chair....... and the nightmare begins. You ever try and cut some thing with a dull knife, like an onion or a tomato? That's what it felt like the entire time. I tried signaling the barber a couple times until I finally gave in, she switched clippers. When she finished she handed me a mirror to review the haircut myself, so I reviewed. Right side first.. didn't match the left. Back side was a mess, and my line was crooked. I hated it , obviously. I let it go and decided I try a different barber next week. So admittedly I returned. And what do you know it, same problem, only this time I requested them to fix it, which probably made the stylist a bit angry. I swear they don't know a fade from a taper. Top of the head and the bottom sides were like night and day; Jesus you're a barber, learn to blend. I have been a loyal customer of Kittenz haircut for almost a year. But then they got rebranded to K-Studio and something changed. First, Paulina who always did a great haircut for me, disappeared. I was told by management she broke her leg. Nobody saw her since then, so she probably just changed the job when salon management changed.
