You don't get a greeting like that very much anymore, and that same care and effort she put into greeting her customers is evident in the construction of the sandwiches too! I mean when was the last time a business - even local - asked your name before you left, unless it was to put on your coffee cup? We've had the club, the Brooklyn, and the veggie caprese and all of them are phenomenal. I don't think you could make a bad choice at The Block - you're gonna be happy and satisfied. Maybe it is "just a sandwich", and maybe I'm overhyping it because of the way the love they have for the customers and product comes through the entire experience....but even if I am, isn't that the entire point of your neighborhood deli?

No sides are included with these sandwiches , though I did appreciate the ability to order half sandwiches, as the Reuben was $17 and the Turkey Reuben was $11 for a full order. I recall being disappointed in the thick sliced pastrami from my last visit and was happy to see Stevens now slices more thin, to better "stack" the meat. The pastrami was well brined, with good flavor. But, as the photo shows, out of balance. Pastrami on one side, the kraut and dressing on the other side. So, you get a bite of meat or kraut and dressing if you chomp somewhere else. The sandwich was still warm by the time I got it home. My wife's turkey Reuben, was served with real roasted turkey, but on the dry side. Both sandwiches had sauerkraut & 1000 island dressing, just not enough to save the Turkey sandwich.
