Upon our last visit to the McCalister's on W Wadley Ave. In Midland,Tx. I was very disappointed that the people hired to prepare our food were non english speaking or reading individuals. They got our orders wrong the last couple of times we have been there and had to make additional trips to the store to get our order corrected. The employee who was waiting on me tried his best to comminucate the problem with the order to the woman in the back preparinv tbe food but she could not understand english at all. So obvisouly she could not read the tickets either. He had to go to the kitchen and physically show her what he was trying to tell her in english. I ordered a Southwest Chicken Avocado salad minus the chicken. It also came minus the avocado. I had to wait 10 minutes for one of the cooks to get the avocado. I did observe one of them looking at something on his phone. They had three working the front who did not offer to go back and help. I ended up not eating my salad because it tasted odd. No idea why only a two star rating. We have eaten here twice and at several other McAlister's in Texas and the food is always perfect. Stopped in yesterday on our way to Abilene and had a club and a jalapeño crunch to go. The service was great. Met the general manager Gus who was right up front greeting and helping customers. Dining area was clean and decorated for Halloween. Restrooms were clean. When we got back on the road we had everything we needed to enjoy our lunch. McAlister's is always a great alternative to fast food when you need a quick bite to go. By the way, our food was terrific and the recommended chocolate chip cookie was the perfect dessert. The new staff that works here is terrible. My office is 5 min away, and I have been coming here for 4+ years, and it was great until recently. Every Individual working here now moves around like they have concrete shoes on. This is not a one-time thing; I have been in multiple times now, and it's been this way. I was just here. Took 40min to receive a French dip sandwich, as I was waiting i over heard they did not have the sauce to go with it. Was never told that at check out and I guess they have been out for over a week. By the time I received my food I already asked to cancel my order instead they handed it to me. When I opened it in my car to eat it, it was already cold. So I received a cold sandwich with no sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here when we stopped for the night on our way from Tucson,AZ to Southlake, TX for Thanksgiving. The night manager, Johnathon, was welcoming and so helpful when it came to ordering. It was our first time at a McAllisters, and we will definitely go back if we find others. Me and my dad were just trying to have a nice dinner tonight and picked McAlister's. We paid $48 for two clubs two drinks and two cakes. And we went to our table and after waiting 47 minutes we started noticing the people that ordered after us got their food before we did. And when my dad came back to the table the guy came to us only gave us our cake and just acted like he didn't know what he was doing. And said he didn't know when our food was going to be ready. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of healthy(ish) options in the Basin for lunch, especially on this side of town. As much as I hesitate to call a sandwich and a salad slathered in dressing healthy, this is west Texas so we've got to work with what we've got! It's always super busy here during the lunch hour, so like most places, either get here by 11 or after 12:45. My standby is the Soutwest Cobb salad with extra guac and corn, easy on the dressing.The corn adds some sweetness and crunch and it has just enough kick from the chipotle ranch. Tried their new turkey sandwich and was pretty happy with it too. Stay away from the kale soup though. Too heavy on the Parmesan and light on the faux Italian sausage. read more

My last stop on the way out of town. I usually get the tuna salad sandwich on wheat, but this time I went for the New Yorker on rye. It had corned beef and pastrami with melted Swiss. I should have asked for mayo because it was a little dry. But the flavor was good. I also had a cup of the chicken tortilla soup which is my favorite at McAlister's; especially when the weather is as crummy as it was on Sunday morning. The employees are friendly and helpful. Angry unfriendly staff who cannot follow simple directions ask for mayonnaise on their pitiful excuse for a BLT you get nothing and a BLT the "T" stands for tomato nope not there the put avacado, the bacon yes but was that precook bagged stuff not cooked enough all looks same lettuce? While our food was decent and what you would expect from a deli, it was the service and staff that brought down the score for this McAlisters Deli location. From the moment our cashier waved and called out "NEXT" for us to come over, we got the impression that he did not want to be there. He seemed distracted and ready to go home. We patiently waited 25 minutes for our to-go order, at that point we noticed customers who had placed their orders after us (with larger orders) had already received their orders. We kindly asked the young lady at the pick up area to check on the status of our order, and when she asked the gentleman who was packing orders for its status, he somewhat snapped at her. Finally our order was up and the same gentleman just handed the bag over without a thank you, or an apology or reason for the extremely long wait. This visit occurred during our cross country trip and we were hoping to be in and out of there in a matter of minutes but this stop had extended our destination ETA by about 45-60minutes. Initially we had considered stopping by the JERSEY MIKES a few miles away but it was not near the freeway and we wanted to save time. Ultimately we realized that we could have gone to Jersey Mikes making better time, and frankly better quality sandwiches. Sadly it wasn't until after our visit that I noticed on YELP, that the long waits for orders was something way too common. I advise anyone out there to maybe phone in your order way in advance if considering this McAlisters. And not to expect friendly or helpful service from some of their staff. read more

I love mcalister's but this place needs to be cleaned up. Floors and tables are usually dirty. Funny smell coming in the side door for the carry out orders. I know they're by the interstate and they're busy but this place can end up giving Mcalister's a bad reputation. The food is always great. And the sweet tea is superbly syrupy. I usually order online and pick up to eat there instead of ordering at the restaurant. The line is almost always out the door during lunch. Still a line for pickups but it moves quick.
