I don't normally leave reviews, but after this experience? I have to speak up so others don't get burned like I did. I placed a $55 online order with the Sterling Heights McAlister's Deli at 7:38 PM, for pickup at 8:15 PM. Their corporate website AND Google listing clearly state they close at 9:00 PM. I arrived at 8:15--well before closing--and found the doors locked, the lights off, and the manager inside with her small child, refusing to open the door. No food. No call. No refund. Nothing but attitude and a blank stare. I tried to speak with the general manager the next day. His solution? Rudeness and refusal. They kept the money for an order they knowingly didn't fulfill, and neither he nor the on-site manager took responsibility. No apology. No refund. No decency. Let me be clear: * You accepted my money, knowing you wouldn't make the food. * You closed early without telling anyone. * You offered no refund and zero customer care. That's not just poor service--it's dishonest and unethical. I've reported this to corporate and filed a consumer protection complaint with the Michigan Attorney General. If you've been scammed by this location too, I suggest you do the same. Until they fix this, I'll be warning everyone I know to stay far away from McAlister's in Sterling Heights. Ordered the black angus club which was tasty and filling. The regular order is basically two quarter slices of an entire sandwich and each 1/4 slice is very thick, impossible to take a full bite out of the sandwich. Taste was excellent, high quality roast beef with thin slices of cheddar and Swiss, onion and creamy horseradish sauce. I would order this again easily. Mac n cheese side - decent taste and texture but very small portion, the size of very small ice cream scoop. This place is fairly new, a large space with plenty of seating. Nice new clean deli. Very spacious dining area. Very attentive friendly staff. I had the New Yorker, pastrami and corned beef stacked with Swiss and brown mustard on marble rye with a side of potato salad. The New Yorker was perfectly sliced pastrami and corned beef the Swiss cheese was melted and the right amount of brown mustard. Very flavorful. The potato salad was vey creamy. First visit to McAllister's deli this is what our visit was like we ordered a Italian and an Italian shouldn't come with mayo or mustard when you asked for oil and vinegar, but they gave us mayo so they had to remake it that our replacement sandwich came with mustard and oil and vinegar dripping it was disgusting the worst sandwich I've ever eaten and only a few bites of it. I would not recommend this place. They gave us our order without our chips. The customer care experience has been nothing short of of horrible. My last order was missing items and was 10 minutes late. I completed the survey they sent and received an email from Kim, the general manager, asking me to call. I call the next day and was told she no longer works there -- and hasn't in awhile. I explain the email I received the day prior... nothing, no comment, no effort to help fix the issue. I ask for a manager -- more of the same. Kim no longer works at that location. Zero help otherwise. This was my second visit to the restaurant. The food is pricey, but not bad... the help at the location leaves something to be desired. First time there was for a pick-up and they forgot my drink, I realized it before leaving. The restaurant was empty and the staff just seemed to be confused and with no interest in helping anyone. Second time, again a carryout - staff was a bit better, but still seemed confused and unorganized. Despite placing and paying for my order online, it doesn't look like they make the order until the customer arrives --- which means you wait and wait. Zero communication, zero help from the counter help. Both times at McAlister's has been a poor experience. It could take some time for a new restaurant to get their act together --- but, my second visit was just as bad and the follow-up from the General Manager that doesn't work there and the reaction from the staff seems to confirm that this store is poorly operated. We've been waiting for this to open for a while, and wondering what the building was going to be. It finally opened and we've ordered a few times. If you do decide to go, sign up for the loyalty club in advance. They also have a decent app. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because their food has been inconsistent. Sometimes it's well put together, other times not so much. We've also waited a long time at the window and had to honk just to get someone to get our order. Saw this place under construction for the last 2-3 months. I had extremely high hopes for a new deli place. Sadly it was a flop in my book. I have been to front page, bread basket, dilly deli and even house of Ruben. And love the size of the sandwiches at 12+ dollars you are getting good value. Usually those sandwiches are to big to eat in one sitting. I tried McAllister Club sandwich ( which is a signature item) very very skimpy and almost no bacon and looked like 3 pieces of bread. I have been to many family restaurants and paid about the same price for a club sandwich which was more filling and fresher ingredients. (Real Turkey). My side salad was bigger than my whole sandwich combined. Which to me would raise a red flag. Staff very friendly, atmosphere very relaxing kind of a Panera feel. Adequate parking, good location, just very over priced for a deli sandwich. Best of luck to the restaurant may possibly try again. But highly doubt it knowing there are better options available on the same street. read more

Food from what we did get was great Had to force them to give us all of what we ordered. The rudest staff you will ever meet. How do you hire that many incompetent and inconsiderate people. Its franchise owned of course why would they care? Spent over 200$ on our order when i could of done a better job putting the order together myself not to mention all the rude comments and looks from the staff. Its a shame how i called placed my order and was told i cant wait all day on you...while ordering for 7 people it does take some time. Upon the manager taking the order he refused to label them which is okay nobody is required to do that but after taking the credit card number just hangs up in my face. Had to walk back in twice and basically beg for rest of order. What a shame food wasnt bad but we will never as a company order from them again good luck competing with Panera with that service. read more

My family and I were across the state and had a disappointing experience and were given comps for 3 meals. It was the east Lansing store. I guess that since they are a franchise and not corporate, this store could not accept the voucher. The nice lady at the counter spoke to her manager (Frank). Frank was nice and due to the circumstances actually honored one of the certificates. Knowing we live in the area, Frank went above and beyond to correct what the other location gave to pacify the issue we encountered. Thank you for taking ownership of the situation. So glad there is a McAllister's on my side of state and town now. Food is great! read more

My husband and I ate there last night and let me tell you...we will definitely be back! I had the Pecanberry salad and it was delicious. It exploded with freshness and flavor. One of THE best salads I have ever had. My husband had the Southwest salad and a cup of chili. He was equally impressed. What a wonderful experience!!! We went on VIP day unknowingly. We were invited in with open arms. After we ordered, we were told everything was on the house!!! Kim was wonderful. Took wife for a late dinner to try the place, ordered at 6:51, people complaining on where food was should have been dead giveaway. I had to ask where my dine in order was at about 7:20 and they lost the order, they also lost a call ahead order that was sitting by our table. Workers (i understand hard to find in todays world) standing around not assisting, they could care a less and nothing for inconvenience. Food was good except for Potato soup, first time was thick and tasty, this time was very watery like it was watered down. Really wish they had a drive through instead of just a pick-up window. I waited almost 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me...and then told me I had to go inside or place my order on the App. I parked and placed my order on the App. The entire time, nobody drove up to the window so they probably could've taken my order right there and just had me pull in to a parking space if anyone drove up behind me.
