Unorganized chaos. I absolutely dislike writing this review, mostly because all I want is to support small family businesses. My boyfriend and I saw a post on Facebook about how this orchard had a sunflower field, in addition to a cider mill. We love exploring new sunflower fields together and we especially love cider and donuts so we decided to venture the hour north to McCallums. The place itself is rather small. We walked in to the barn, which was a mess. Maybe they weren't staffed properly, but the tables were filled with trash. We read you had to pay for the sunflower maze, which we didn't mind. They use the honor system and a cup filled with water was waiting at the entrance to the maze. Were we supposed to put the money in there? Employees in the barn weren't helpful so we just carried on through the maze. The cider was tart and flavorless and not worth he $6 we paid for a half gallon. The donuts were large and apple cinnamon flavored. Not what we expected but still delicious, especially since they were hot and fresh for us. We each got a weird taste in our mouth when we inquired about cups for the cider and even where we picked up our donuts. For kids they did have a little playground area, which everyone seemed to enjoy. It's a smaller cider mill so don't expect a lot but McCallums is homey and you can tell the owners are trying their best! read more

Had a fun family day here. The hot cider was delicious, as were the donuts. Lots of activities for the kids, like a corn maze, bounce house, and hay to climb. The apple orchard was cute, but there were hardly any apples, and the ones that were still there were mostly not good anymore. We only picked 5 apples. It is only the beginning of October, so I was really surprised at the lack of apples and the quality of them. As much as the snacks were delicious, I'm not sure if we'll return next year. read more

Apple cider and donuts were alright. Putting donuts in a plastic container makes them soggy and gross if there are any left over, but they were ok overall. My biggest gripe is that we paid $5 per person for the corn maze, and it was really a corn trail. We walked through the entire thing in 2 minutes with corn that is barely tall enough for it to be considered a "maze." Save your money on the extra things and go elsewhere. read more

It is late in the season but we wanted to go take a look while driving up here. Doughnuts were decent, cider neither here nor their. Everything was overpriced. One of our favorite orchards in this area to go to, we go every fall it's a tradition. We always fill up a big bag full of apples, tons of apples always tons to choose from. Gala apples are super sweet. I love the experience for my son, that he gets to pick his own apples and see where they grow from. It's also really nice for their sunflower fields, it was so beautiful to walk through there and well worth the $5 entry fee. Pricing is very good at this location. We went to have cider and donuts today at the end of September and the line was so long that we decided to opt out of cider and donuts. They could definitely use more help with the registers and move the lines faster. read more

This is not really much of a cider mill, but it certainly is a fun place to pick fruit. We love to go when the cherries are ripe. Even as the kids get older, they always want to go back to pick cherries! The window of opportunities is slim, so be sure to call ahead to find out what is in season. read more

A pleasant September drive to a nice Orchard with friendly owners and wonderful, warm cinnamon doughnuts. We did the wine tasting, bought a bottle of the blackberry. We were camping in the area, just two retirees. Did not visit the petting zoo, but did enjoy the little store, wine and doughnuts. You can really taste the apple in the cider. Just tart enough to make it thirst quenching! We really went for the donuts. Cinnamon apple and still warm! They have a cute play area for the kids and a horse drawn wagon ride that is just a couple of dollars per person. Since we have young grandsons, we thought next time we'd take our boys. After standing in line for a half an hour to get two dozen doughnuts and 2 gallons of cider for $30, we bought 2 half bushel bags to pick apples ($17 more). Wanting a drink of the cider we bought, I asked for a cup. "0.25 cents please. You gotta be kidding me! We skipped the "hayless' ride to the back forty (for another $2 per person) and drove back. This place didn't spray their trees this season. Worm holes and fungus were on all their apples. We couldn't find enough to fill one bag, let alone two. My wife saw a sign that said "area closed', so we went back there. The apples there weren't much better, but at least they were edible. I think this is where they filled the bags they sold in their store for even more cash. Skip this place. They got my $50 this season, but NEVER again. Run, don't walk away! read more
