We had McCauley Glass install a glass shower as part of a master bath renovation. Our general contractor recommended them and they did a great job on that install. Top craftsmanship and quality of product. They held all their appointments which is important for a job like this. The main reason for this review is that, within 2 years of the install, some wear and tear occurred on the shower strike (plastic attached to glass where the door closes). I contacted them and they were willing to replace the strike (~50 value) at no cost since it was within 2 years. Again, it was just wear and tear but it was a nice gesture. The office is only open weekdays and I did come upon it just before 1 p.m. and they were closed for lunch (sign on the door noted the 1 p.m. return) I waited until 1:05 p.m. then went for lunch and came back. I say this not as a sharp critique, but more as a note that if you plan on stopping by during your lunch hour, best to call and see if someone will be there. It's a small office area seemingly run by one person with some craftsmen in the back. In summary, McCauley and their work has served us well and I would not hesitate to call them for any glass needs. read more

I am writing this review because sometimes you just get tired of getting lied to and mistreated in this world. On Thursday, May 31, 2018, I went by this business location at 8:00a.m. to purchase some glass glazing beading strips which hold the window glass pane in the aluminum window frame. We visited with a gentlemen in the office; I don't know if he was the owner or office help. We were shown one piece which was sitting in the office and we were told it would be $7.00. This item was not the exact item, so we inquired if they had any other different strip's which would match what we had. We were told a simple no. Knowing very well, that you have to use this stripping to replace a window, I called McCauley Glass to replace two window panes at a cost of $250.00. Well you have guessed it, they had all kinds of the needed window stripping on the truck. It was no problem. The guy in the office may have just been too lazy to go back and check to see what inventory they had, I will never know. Ace Hardware which normally has this stripping was out, but they charge $2.99 per piece. It even gets better, I order 20 pieces off the needed stripping after the fact on the internet for $34.99. I really don't understand why this gentlemen lied to us as customers. We have used McCauley Glass over the years 4 times at our house. Yes, as repeat customers were treated this way. On a positive note, when the installers come out to the house they are very good and professional. Their service is great and what one would expect. It has always been that way every time we have used McCauley. I am sure that if Mr. McCauley was still living, he would be saddened that a repeat customer was treated poorly in the business office and out and out lied to like we were. read more

Day of work they failed to honor the agreed upon labor charges for installing a new shower door. Never again for this company. Not the same when the company was owned by the McCauley's. The McCauley family should demand that the name of the company be changed. read more

Wrong orders, didn't fit, broke in shipment, over charge credit card, lost payments and doubled + charged me. Overpriced - Unethical Needed a shower door sweep for my shower door. Unknowing that I could buy one at Lowe's I purchases one from this glass company for $15.00. Later I found I could have made the purchase at Lowe's for $2.75. Unreal. Their cost was probably less than $1.50. McCauley Glass is either poorly managed or my one window replacement was not a big enough job for them, so I was not a priority. Either way, I will NEVER use them again and would NOT recommend them. They were relatively quick to send someone out to measure my broken window and give me an estimate. However, it went downhill quickly after their first visit, which was on a Monday or Tuesday. I was told they would be back out on Friday of the same week to replace my broken window. I took off early from work on Friday to meet the technician. After I got home, the technician gave me a courtesy call to let me know he was on his way, but in the same breath, he tells he needs to double check the measurement on the glass they cut before he proceeded to my home (League City, Texas). He called me back within just a few minutes to let me know the cut was off by 1/2 an inch, so they would have to recut and would not be able to install until the following week. ...Three weeks later, after numerous unanswered calls and messages on their website, I get a call to let me know they can install the following day. I take off work early, again, and meet two technicians at my home, only to learn the glass was the wrong dimensions. The window is measured, again, and I am told they will be back the following Monday. ...Two weeks later, the same two technicians come back with the properly cut glass. The work was poorly done as the trim was not put back on properly and the insulation between the two glass panels looks like sh**. WTF?! Sloppy, sloppy work. Again, I do NOT recommend this company. read more

He fixed the window in just about 30 minutes for a very affordable price, he was honest and very easy to work with. Would definitely use his services again. read more

I requested an estimate for a window installation and was told there was no service call fee. When the men arrived, they decided it was an easy project and installed the window. Ultimately I was charged $200, which I felt was very high considering the labor was less than 30 minutes and no parts were needed. After playing phone tag with the owner for 3 weeks, I wrote a letter asking if anything could be done to reduce the excessive fees. One employee was very helpful and tried to get me a $100 reduction, but the owner refused. After more than a month of back and forth, I was offered $40. I've used this company for various projects over the past 17 years, but will not use them again as they were not willing to give a fair and reasonable price for this service. read more

I had used McCauley previously and they were great. So I went back to see if they could install a dog door in my patio door. They requested a 50% deposit ($200) for the job. They told me to go to Home Depot and buy the dog door. I took it to them to install. They said it couldn't go in glass. They didn't give back the door because they couldn't find it. $50. Then said they couldn't cut tempered glass but they could order a "portable" door that could be used with a sliding glass door. Great! $200. They didn't measure the opening after installing the door. It had a 15" opening. My shoulders are wider than that. I can't go through the doorway without turning to the side. $200. When I pointed this out, the installer said to "live with it" a couple of days and if I still didn't like it, they would come back and remove the dog door. After 7 phone calls and messages I still haven't heard from them. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and McCauley's never responded to them. I'm out $450 and can't get thru my patio door. I found them to be unprofessional and unethical. read more

Set appt to fix broken window. Didn't show at agreed upon time. We called to find out why they weren't there and they said they were running behind and would call in an hour. 3 hours later no call from them so we called. NO ANSWER! We called a satellite office and they said they would check to see if their technician was still in the area and would call back. They didn't call back so I called them and they said their technician was no longer in the area. They said they would try to reschedule. We said no thanks we will call a company that is more responsive. They wasted our day. read more

Absolutely worst experience with a business. All started out well, we reached out they had folks come out and measure and template the windows. We were given a time frame as to when the windows would be in (roughly) and told that someone would call to schedule installation. After waiting the rough timeframe plus a few extra days, we had to call to see if the glass was received. Upon calling we learned the glass broke in route to them. Ok, they are having it redone and will call when it is ready. After waiting another week or see with no feedback, we call again to be told we have it ready we'll have someone call to schedule installation. After nothing for 2 days we call back yet again, to have the installation scheduled. We are finally excited to have the installation scheduled and they come out and neither of the windows fit. The window where the template was taken clearly did not utilize said template as it didn't even follow the curvature of the window. The second window had to be shaved down but at least was installed that day. What followed was more of us calling them more templates, more incorrect windows , more calling etc. After the 3rd attempt we finally received a window that fit and was installed successfully. Thus begin the actual follow ups from this company.....for payment. Extremely disappointed and appalled that the only time they could actual give us a call was to say we owe them money instead of being proactive throughout the entire process. No apologies for the delays and inconvenience, just your bal is XXX. Needless to say, we did pay our balance with the clear understanding that we will NEVER utilize this business again and will ensure none of our friends or family will either. read more
