Terrible. First the wrong VIN number was put on my paper work so I had to make two trips out to their location. Not even owning the car for 48 hours and the windshield wipers stopped working. I called and was told "well they did work" Was told I had a warranty on the clutch, but when I went lower then the asking price they said no. Only after I pulled up the ad stating it didn't say they did they honored it. Should not have been an argument in the first place. After six months of searching for Manual used 2000-2004 VW Jettas and Audi A4 Quattro with fewer than 100k miles on them in decent condition for under $3,000. I found an ad on Facebook Marketplace for a Green 2000 VW Jetta at McCauley's wholesale for $2750. I purchased that 2000 VW Jetta with 89,000 miles on it on January 8, 2016, from Lee (TLC Marine and Auto). The only things wrong with the car after inspecting it thoroughly on the lift were the sunroof was a little off, the glove box broke, and one other cosmetic interior item. Structurally and mechanically the car was sound. It was not a manual transmission but an automatic but at the year, mileage and price I couldn't leave without it. And I didn't have to lick the door handle to claim my Volkswagon. The day after purchase with about 25 miles on the car, the check engine light came on. I called Charley and said no problem bring the car back and they would fix the issue for free. I dropped the car off Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. Lee gave me a ride to work, and by 11:30 a.m. my vehicle was parked in the parking lot at my place of employment all fixed. It turned out it just needed the coil pack replaced. They both (Charley and Lee) provided exemplary customer service with a smile and at no time made me feel pressured or less than for being a female car shopper. It's now June 21, 2019, and I am still driving the same car with a little of 115,000 miles on it. Do NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM MccAULEY WHOLESALE, March 22nd, 2023 Let me start by saying I am business owner, farther and car enthusiast. My youngest son "B" (a type one diabetic since 2013) found what he described as a fantastic truck he found for sale a MccAULEY WHOLESALE llc. I took the day off work and we drove several vehicles from this dealer. B settled on a very nice looking 2012 Chevy Colorado with 76,023 original miles. During the test drive the truck drove exceedingly well and from the exterior looked to be in very good shape, we did not notice at the time of the test drive there was not a current inspection sticker on the windshield. Note this is against the law, any dealer plate bolted onto a vehicle MUST HAVE A VALID INSPECTION! I have attached pix of our test drive that illustrates no inspection sticker on the vehicle whatsoever. Please also note on the day we test drove the vehicle the only posting in the vehicle was the sale sign in the front window and I quote "1 year warranty, Gas Saver, LIKE NEW". My son was very excited, he is anxious to begin to build positive credit in his name. Of course I am a proud father that wants to promote the American dream and will do anything to help him. I agreed to cosign a loan for B as I did with his older brother several years prior. We were steered to DCU through McCAULEY WHOLESALE, LLC. This process was super easy and we had a bank check 2 days later. When we went to pick up the vehicle Mr, Allen (the owner) stated the vehicle wasn't ready and had to have the safety inspection done, he said come back the following day to pick it up. The following day my wife drove B to the dealership and was able to pick up the Colorado. I got a phone call saying the inspection was only issued for 60 days due to the OBD emissions not meeting standards due to the battery replacement. We were instructed to drive the vehicle for some time then bring it back for the emissions check and a fresh sticker. Several weeks had passed and I had some free time on a Friday so I decided to bring his truck to the McCAULEY for the inspection. ( The night prior the rusted tail pipe fell off the truck and was in the bed of the truck) Mr. Allen stated they do not do their own inspections and to take the truck to Hampton Motors 611 Lafayette road in Hampton NH. I drove the truck to the inspection garage as indicated and the owner quickly without inspecting other than checking OBD requirements issued as 13 month new inspection sticker. I was kind of baffled as the exhaust that had just fallen off the day prior was literally in the bed of the truck! After the inspection I was able to have a local Lou's Custom Exhaust replace the rotten tail pipe. When the tech asked me to come look at his work up on a lift I discovered what I assumed was serious frame rot. The very next morning I took the Colorado to a garage down the street to have a safety inspection done. The report (also in the pix) stated the vehicles frame was so rotted it was deemed unsafe and should be parked and not driven. The dealer clearly knew this was an unsafe vehicle and not only violated the law but sold an unsafe vehicle to my SON! Unfortunately after we discovered this we found out this a repeated pattern and we are not the only unfortunate buyers to be scammed. I kindly asked for our money to be returned, Mr Allen declined and stated we had to drive vehicle back to him for repairs. I explained the vehicle was unsafe to drive and he was more than welcome to send a wrecker at his expense to come get it, he declined. It is now my duty to my son and all the other poor people Mr Allen has ripped off to pursue this to the full extent possible. I have notified the NH State Police safety and inspections department and am currently working with Richard Leute. His department has been aware of this unlawful transaction as well as the illegitimate inspection scheme. I am grateful for my local Kittery PD department, Motor Officer Harmon as he was fantastic steering me in the right direction. I have notified both Attorney Generals in Maine and New Hampshire of the situation and plan on meeting with a specialized attorney next week. My goal now is not only restitution, compensation but to make sure this deceitful excuse of human will never be able to sell another vehicle as long as he is alive! Where do I even begin? I bought a 2006 Dodge Charger from them that was ostensibly in "mint condition". We had major problems from Day 1: the check engine light was constantly coming on and the lights would automatically shut off while I was driving. While they offered to fix the problems, at no time did they set me up with a loaner or rental car, or anything to remedy my lack of transportation. After the first or second attempt at fixing the check engine light, they diagnosed it as an emissions issue, fixed it, and asked me to drive my car back home in the middle of a snowstorm. While driving, I discovered that my car lights shut off multiple times on the way home. When I attempted to tell them, the salesman (A) began talking over me, telling me that my check engine light coming on wasn't a big deal. After getting the problem "fixed" for the fourth time and having it pass an inspection, it turned out that nothing was actually done about the problem. According to them, it was a false positive from an unrelated issue. We had six attempts to resolve the check engine light, none of which were successful. After informing them of my lights shutting off, their salesman tried to tell me that it was "normal" - something that the owner (C) even found hard to believe. According to the A, my headlights shutting off in the middle of the night was an intended feature. He then told me it was a bad alternator, which could be fixed through their mechanic. I could not make it because if I did drop my car off, I had no ride into work because they refused to give me a loaner. Because of this, their salesman refused to set up another appointment and decided to do the replacement himself. Two days after, my serpentine belt was shredded to bits, and I had to tow it to my personal mechanic, who discovered that the alternator pulley was also dented (possibly caused by their botched replacement). I found over $1,000 worth of damages (on top of the money I already spent fixing their mistake) that made the car unsafe to drive. To top it all off, after multiple tests, it turns out the "false positive" was the previous emissions issue they claimed to fix. I attempted to resolve the issue multiple times with the C, but he kept pushing it onto A. I believe McCauley Wholesale showed no concern for my safety, no desire to fix my car, and lied to me from the moment I stepped onto the lot. Buy anywhere else in America. My husband bought a truck from them back in February and its turned into nothing but a money pit piece of crap. Within the first week he was having issues with it and called and texted Mustafa the salesman to no avail. Oh sure kisses your ass promising its a solid vehicle, will stand by it etc. then never responds once its off the lot. To date hes spent almost 2 grand in repairs for this piece of crap and still dumping $$$ into it. Mechanic said it sat under water for a long time. Funny truck came from Florida...can you say IRMA!!! Buyer beware! We bought a 09 Subaru here for 5K. First warning was they listed it under private sale, and being a auto dealer violates CL policy's (they have been notified) We paid $5000 and soon as it was home it leaked oil all over my garage. They told us it was gone through and had a new timing belt, and head gasket. Was told they had documentation about the work being done, but none was ever shown? When bring the car to a certified dealer (Tri-City Subaru) they told us that rats had chewed all the wires and will need a new wiring harness that 2K! on top of that another 2K for new head gaskets, and timing belts. We have photos, and proof! The McCauley has denied this and said that it was not true. And never called us back. Never in my life have I been so disgusted with a human being. I just got my license back after five years of trying to get my epilepsy under control and of course in my excitement I told Charlie my story. (Single mother on disability, finally got a service dog etc etc). I bought a Ford F-150 from Charlie McCauley "As Is" and of course knew some work would be needed. I had a mechanic look under best he could and was told exhaust work would be needed. (Mind you only "rust " was checked off on the sale of an unsafe vehicle form). I brought it in to get it up on a lift to see the extent of the work needed. ZIPTIES AND PIECES OF 2x4s were holding the truck together. Tailpipe connected to nothing. Bed rotting off. Exhaust gone front to back, 02 censors, manifolds, 4 wheel drive not connected, breaks gone, SO MUCH ROT. I don't think that many mechanics have ever stood in such awe ever. Apparently I should never have been allowed to test drive the truck to begin with, no valid sticker, completely unsafe to be driven and should have been specifically sold for parts or scrap. When I went to Charlie with this he refused to buy it back however he did offer to sell it for me off his lot...leaving me liable for the next victim that purchased it. Someone please tell me who does this to anyone never mind someone who just told you they could finally drive after five years? Hope he's sleeping well while I stare out the window at the truck I'll never be able to drive. Enjoy all my savings and may karma find you sooner rather than later. read more
