He cleaned up after he was done and left nothing behind. I even messaged him recently because I was looking to buy a can of touch up paint for when I have the bathroom countertops redone (drywall may need repairing and repainting after demolition) and I didn't know which white color paint he used and he responded promptly. At a time when every painter has plenty of work, Mark returned my call for an estimate to paint the exterior of our home in a couple of days. He was booked a couple of months out but we got on his schedule and waited. We had three companies provide estimates but Mark seemed honest abd he was the most knowledgeable. I e-mailed Mark McCleary Painting to get an estimate (and hopefully have the work done soon thereafter) on a relatively small painting job at a rental we own. After a couple of days with no reply, I gave up on the e-mail and called him. He said he was booked for the next 10 days or so but set up an appointment to view the project and estimate the cost. A week before the appointment date, I received a weird sort of impersonal e-mail saying McCleary Painting was "unable to provide a free estimate." It was phrased as if we'd never even talked on the phone or set-up an appointment and had been written late at night. When I replied the following morning, I reminded him again of our conversation and the fact that he'd set up an appointment, etc. His reply, again written late at night, was "Yes were still on,," (---I've copied and pasted it from his reply). As the date approached, I confirmed with him that he would be there and he did show up. I coordinated the appointment time with our tenant and he (the tenant) actually left work early in order to be there. That was 12 days ago. I haven't heard another word from Mark McCleary. I even sent a follow-up e-mail asking for the estimate and emphasizing that I planned on having him do the work if the estimate was reasonable. No word. Nothing. At this point, he's wasted nearly a month of my time as well as my tenant's time. I had planned on using McCleary for all our painting projects at our rentals if this had worked out. There's no way to say at this point, of course, how much money in future business he's cost himself but I suspect he may have done me a favor by inadvertently revealing how unreliable and unprofessional he is. read more

Mark came out the same day I called him to give me a quote to paint our living room. Our decision to paint was last minute like always. Mark worked with us on the paint, wife wanted a certain brand, and was able to come out the next morning to do the work. He showed up on time, and in two and one-half hours we had a beautifully painted living room. Dislikes: - He works very quickly, not so much a dislike as much as a, I shouldn't have taken the whole day off kind of thing. I am really impressed with McCleary Painting. We had them paint our two-toned living room and a bedroom in our house. They did a fantastic job. The bedroom needed a lot of work: Trim, doors, ceiling, and walls. It was done incredibly well and quickly. They also did a fantabulous job in the living room, patching up some holes in the wall and painting it perfectly. Also-- we wanted to match the trim in the bedroom with the trim in the living room, but didn't know the name of the paint color. Mark suggested a certain color. When we went and got the chip at the paint store and held it up to the color in the living room, he was SPOT ON! Amazing! I felt the pricing was good, they showed up when they said they would (even getting the job done earlier than they had originally anticipated) and they were professional the whole time. I left a message for McCleary Painting about a small but urgent job. It was a little after hours, but he called me back shortly after my call. He said he'd come out the next day, and as stated, he called in the morning and then came out the same day to give me a quote to paint our front door. Our decision to paint was last minute due to a rush & botched job by a family member. He came back a few hours later and did the work. Mark did a great job on the front of the house, prep and paint plus filled a few holes/dings in the metal front door. His price is reasonable and quality of work is high. He was able to slip in our job (whole house interior repaint with several different colors) in between some other work he was doing, so we didn't have to wait weeks for the project to be done. 4. He (and a helper) did the work and it was very good. While the job was under way, we changed our mind about the colors in one of the rooms, requiring a repaint. He didn't miss a beat - "sure, no problem" and our new color scheme went up. (Obviously, we paid extra for the extra paint and labor, but it was a very reasonable charge). We were looking to stain the outside of our home (we have high quality redwood siding surrounding the entire house). Since it hadn't been stained in several years it really had faded in sun-soaked areas, etc. Mark and Joshua came and power washed the entire house a few days before they began the task of staining the entire house just so it could thoroughly dry prior to applying the stain. They wrapped EVERY outside window before washing and after the day of power washing, it almost looked like the staining already took place! It was free of any debris and the natural color began to shine again. Once the stain was applied, it looked amazing. McCleary Painting reminds me of contractors in years past, a time when customer satisfaction was King and pride of workmanship was of utmost importance. We also had McCleary paint our family room (super high ceilings and skylights)....in preparation, they plastic-wrapped everything - the furniture, electronic equipment, etc. like I have never seen. Mark is so meticulous and diligent. He is ALWAYS on time and pleasant. He answers all questions and alleviates all the usual stress associated with home improvements.
