I can honestly say the reason why I came in this time is because I had already been to Lowe's and Home Depot and neither place had what I needed. I was specifically looking for a smooth piece of non-vented soffit hardi-plank for my house. Neither of the big box retailers carried what I needed nor did their employees have the knowledge to even know what I was looking for. That's when I remembered McCoy's. It is conveniently located on Hwy 3 just north of 96. Unfortunately, it was Saturday at 6:15pm and they close at 5:30 on Saturday. So, bright and early on Monday morning, I trotted over to McCoy's and was promptly greeted by knowledgable employees that knew exactly what I needed. They took me into their lumber yard and showed it to me so I could match it the sample piece I brought with me. It matched perfectly. I purchased it and called my son to come pick it up. They held my lumber/loading receipt for me until my son got there so he could pick it up in my truck. I received knowledgable, friendly, and excellent customer service from these folks. I can't really give you a price comparison to the big box stores because they did not have what I needed. In my opinion, I paid a fair price for what I purchased. I will shop here again. Coming here will also keep me from fighting the crowds at Lowe's and Home Depot as well as the general area around FM 646 that also include extra traffic from Target, Wal-Mart, Whataburger, and Chick-Fil-A. It's a win/win for me. I guess the only negative would be that their hours are shorter than the big box places but if I plan accordingly that shouldn't be a problem. I have visited this particular Ace 3 times within a week (including calling them once) and have been met with the nicest, most helpful individuals. At Home Depot and Lowe's, I can NEVER FIND anyone to help me. In addition to their super friendly employees, Ace has items IN STOCK that Home Depot and Lowe's never do. Literally, ANYTHING I want is out of stock OR not even carried at the Pearland HD. The one small issue I had recently was that I was recommended a product by an employee that ended up NOT being the right product for my project. I ended up calling the particular product helpline and they issued me a full refund on the wrong product and told me what I needed. Coincidentally, ACE carried the right product I needed since HD was, big surprise, OUT OF STOCK. %#+* As for prices, I don't know how all things are across the board but for my particular needs recently, they seemed somewhat to be comparable to the big box stores. BUT- for one particular item, I checked on Amazon and Ace (since Home Depot didn't carry it... WTF). The item was $2 more at Ace. (See included picture). We came back in multiple times with the same honed tile looking for a matching mosiac and Ishin kept telling us the same price. We went to purchase the tile and the price was now double at $14 per sq/ft. He said the $8 price (notice more than the orginal quote) was for polished not honed. Either they are completely incompetent or liars. I wouldn't take my business here ever. They wasted so much of our time!
