He was in the middle of leading me to another item and decided to help another customer instead of completing the interaction with me. Apparently I didn't matter as much as the other customer that he stopped helping me to help. I wonder why. Needless to say that I won't be patronizing this local business anymore. I was greeted at the front by a friendly lady who guided me to what I was looking for. She went above and beyond with explaining the different types of pesticides and her personal experiences and recommended methods of application (scatter the boric acid around instead of a straight line for roaches, which I didn't know!). It was a lot of fun browsing the store because there was so much to take in. The layout is like an antique store but for hardware, from plumbing to doorknobs to cleaning supplies, they had just about everything. I had an extremely great experience at Southland and will be back! And do not fret about parking, there is a large - by Montrose standards - parking lot in the back.

On my way after a Yelp pick Up at Cosmic Juice across the street, I saw Southland Hardware and we decided to drop by. It was like going to the candy store for my husband. He was enthralled with all of the knick knacks that he was in one aisle for a long time while I chased around my three year old who was equally entertained by all of the parts such a store can have. They sold everything from small appliances to gardening items and anything you might need to help your home. I didn't know what anything was except for the snacks and they had a good and unique variety of those. Everyone was helpful and super chill. I appreciate the chill these days a lot more than I used to. What a great neighborhood find and yes things might seem a little bit more than say Amazon or another big box store but putting money into a community store helps save your community in the long run. You help the people who live there and put back into the place you live.

During the spring season, they have a small selection of plants. Populars in front of the store and Texas natives in the back. I used to shop here daily after work. Everyone who works here is so sweet and knowledgeable. Joanna who usually waters the plants, she is personable. Every time I'd come, we'd spend a few moments sharing our plant knowledge. I've bought a lot of TX natives. I even came here to landscape the yard with the variety of coleus, caladiums, variegated oregano, flowering plants, and salvia. I really like that they have a garden in the back displaying all the natives that is for sale. I've recommended this nursery to a few of my older customers. Especially the ones who were interested in growing a pollinator garden.

So, another citizen recommended Patco. I called and talked to Bill, who assured me that Cheyanne could do the job, and boy did she ever!!! She came up with the PERFECT match!! I've only stained the door framing so far, but the stain match is beyond perfect. I'm so glad that I rediscovered this store. The one thing I didn't like is that the pressure washer was listed for $89.99... there was a "deal" for $79.99 but the fine print was that you needed to be a member to get the deal. The membership has a yearly fee. No thanks. I don't shop here enough to make that worthwhile. Would have appreciated getting the deal without having to pay a yearly membership.

Hats off to Lowe's for providing this type of service, to Ruby giving us all the time required to get it right, and Joseph for making sure it was properly installed, and being honest about defects and how to address those!

They had to come out twice to measure existing door frame. Today I get the invoice for over $4,000 and the door is listed as fiberglass. I call, and they say "well most people don't want wood because of the elements", etc. ... as if I don't know what I actually want!!!! They automatically substituted what THEY wanted to sell, at a MUCH higher price, without even calling me to discuss it! When we were in the the store, we reminded the young lady who rang it up that wood pellets were included. She agreed. We picked them out and she confirmed that they would be delivered with the grill (nice touch that ACE assembles and delivers!!). Grill was delivered without user manual nor pellets!! The gentleman who delivered had no manual and no pellets!! A nice touch would have been to set the grill up for first use. That did not happen. I fear that they will lose business to Pearland store who has great customer service. I do not want to come across as a complaining old lady, but owners need to be be more involved in their business. The delivery was done by the owner which is also a nice touch, so owner's are involved. My apologies. Star rating has been updated. 11/14/19 Since July, we have not been able to use this $1400 grill. We had a malfunction in temp sensor, contacted Traeger directly and went through about 8 reps trying to help us replace the temp probe. No one at corporate has be able to answer/fix our concerns. I suggested to my husband early on to go back to ACE in Friendswood, but he did not. After 4 months of frustration dealing with Traeger, he went back to ACE and relayed all of the gory detains to Mr. Magnuson, the owner, who promptly modified the part that Traeger sent (would not fit) and, voila, the grill is now operational and preparing chicken as I write this.
