This area looks so much better now that the old Alaskan Way Viaduct was removed back in 2019. The park was designed with pedestrians in mind. It keeps people away from the tunnel traffic along that road. It's still a work in progress with many developments planned in the future. There's still a lot of construction near Belltown as of June 2025. We stayed in a hotel near the park. It's super close to Pier 66. The park currently connects Pioneer Square with Pier 62, and has great views of Elliott Bay. We took the elevator up to the Overlook Walk so that we could gain access to Pike Place Market. There are also stairs that take you there from each side of the walkway. I don't remember it being this easy back in 2011. Heck, I don't even remember seeing the ferris wheel at Pier 57. When did that happen? It's a large and beautiful greenspace that's perfect for locals & tourists alike. We kind of lost our bearings for a bit, but then it became all clear that we were headed the right way to the market. I really like what they have done here. It will be cool to see it again once it's all done, and there's no more construction. It was a nice walk along the bay. read more

We came here for the new playground opening. This was a fun little park with a bit of shade and a nice view of the waterfront. It was our first time visiting, and while I expected it to be a bit bigger, the kids still had a great time. There's a lot of open space, most of which was unused during our visit. Maybe it's intended for events in the future? I'm curious to see how the space develops over time. We took the waterfront shuttle, which dropped us off just a short walk away, making it an easy and convenient trip. read more

After exploring Pike Place Market, I like to walk down to the Waterfront and check out the shops. I love taking in the breeze from Elliot Bay and watching the boats out in the water. There is so much activity in this area with pedestrians walking and people on bikes riding up and down the sidewalk. Waterfront Park extends from Pier 57 to Pier 59 (Pier 58 collapsed and was removed). It was once known as Schwabacher Wharf. Things that you can check out nearby are the Seattle Aquarium, the Great Wheel and Miners Landing. I personal like the pirate shop at Miners Landing. At the park are benches, picnic tables and coin-operated telescopes. Waterfront Park is going to be expanded 20 acres from Belltown to Pioneer Square to become a new park with gardens, bike lanes, restrooms, playgrounds and more. This will bring people closer to the water and allow them to enjoy Elliot Bay in a more comfortable setting. A fun thing to do is to take one of the Argosy Cruises and enjoy the views of the Waterfront and Downtown Seattle from Elliot Bay. read more

I was perusing Google maps when I shockingly realized something used to be here. Turns out the Waterfront Park area (Pier 58) collapsed during demolition in 2020. There used to be a viaduct that ran along Alaskan Way which was removed in 2019 and the new Aquarium building that sits between Elliott and Alaskan Way has also changed the flow of traffic. The section between the Great Wheel and the Aquarium known as Waterfront Park is completely gone. Will there be something built over the water in the future? Maybe - this entire area along Alaskan Way has been under heavy construction since we first visited Seattle in June. But for right now there is literally nothing here. Waterfront Park is a fun little area to walk around and explore while out in Seattle. There are tons of tourist destinations along with shops and restaurants. This area is basically a boardwalk that boasts some of the most stunning views of the Seattle waterfront! There are a few docking stations for boat cruises in this park. I enjoyed a wonderful cruise on the Argosy Cruises boat liner and would highly recommend this boat cruise if you're looking to cruise around Seattle. Along with Argosy Cruises are many other notable attractions nearby including the Seattle Aquarium, and the Seattle Great Wheel. Since the park is located close to the water, it can get extremely cold. I would recommend bringing a coat, especially if you're coming at night. There are several paid parking lots located across the street, but no street parking on the main road. They also have events in the park. Their website lists all of the current events coming up. I enjoyed perusing around Waterfront Park during my trip. If you're visiting Seattle, you should definitely make time to explore this area. read more

For decades, I have wandered the Seattle waterfront thinking about the different versions of it. 30+ years ago, I thought it was charming though sleepy for what should be a vibrant tourists attraction. 30+ years later, the Alaskan Way viaduct is torn down, the cruise ships and their tourists swarm Seattle every summer, Pier 62 is built up as a comfy resting spot, the Coleman Dock is nearly remodeled, and the Seattle Great Wheel beacons all to come and see what's spinning by the waterfront. This is chaos for some; for others, it is ALIVE. Online, there are many who poo-poo Seattle, talking about Seattle as though there is a barricaded CHOP at every other city block. While the city has its houseless population, I, for one, embrace this new vibrant Seattle. I love that we are emerging from COVID better than ever. (Just look at SF downtown and Portland in comparison.) Our waterfront area is a prime example of continued improvement not just for tourists but for locals also. The official address of the Waterfront Park is an area that is being remodeled. I am also looking forward to the new green space that has just been funded by local millionaires Melinda Gates, Mackenzie Scott, et al. Especially for locals, I recommend a leisurely stroll that runs between the new Pioneer Square Habitat Beach (south of Colman Dock), heading north passing the tourist sites including Waterfront Park, onwards to Myrtle Edwards Park until you reach Expedia Group properties (3 miles one way), before doing a u-turn, and looping back to see Olympic Sculpture Park. Lots of stopping points to people watch, take photos, snack, and just have a relaxing day. read more

Not really a park per se, this pier offers beautiful views of the sound, West Seattle and the Kitsap Peninsula. Adjacent to the Great Wheel, look up (or down) to see something in every direction. The city behind you can offer some views otherwise unseen in other parts of the city. The Seattle Aquarium is right next door, so a break for a picnic lunch makes the space more usable. The opposite side of the pier offers Miner's Landing, where one can purchase other foods and ice cream to enjoy while walking along the well-work pier. read more

Great shops and views! I bring all of my visitors here as there seems to always be parking available (either because it costs $4/hr or because there are promotions for free valet parking nearby!) I'm not complaining! Head here if you want to ride the ferris wheel or get the best sunset views of the sound. Ferries run every 30-40 minutes if you want to take a ride to Bainbridge or Bremerton, though the cost to park your car here is about the same as taking it on the ferry with you! Food options are aplenty. Whether you want to break bread and seafood at the Crab Pot, or have the best oysters around at Elliott Bay, there's something for everyone. You'll get the feel of Fisherman's wharf in San Francisco or Monterey but it'll be a lot cleaner (and smaller)! read more

When I was in Beijing, I was working on projects that helped fund the remodeling of the current waterfront and being able to see that the project is going on in front of me, makes it somewhat trans-inspiring. The view is superbly calming and it can yet be quite the entertainment since it is right next to Pike Place Market. Born and raised on Long Island, NY the water is a part of my heritage. Now living in Las Vegas, it was joy to set my eyes on a body of water that extends to the ocean. The Seattle Waterfront Park proper is a diminutive park immediately south of Piers 61 and 62 overlooking Elliot Bay (part of Puget Sound). In similar fashion to a few Yelpers who reviewed this listing, I am reviewing the Seattle Waterfront which roughly borders Yesler Way at Pier 48 to the south and the Port of Seattle at Pier 70 and Broad Street (to the Space Needle) to the north. If I were reviewing the park proper, I'd grant it the exact 4 star rating on account of the views overlooking Elliot Bay. Alaskan Way is the major thoroughfare running parallel with the Seattle Waterfront. In the absence of a separate bike path, its sidewalk is the concrete connecting the Seattle Waterfront points of interest. On my walk alongside Alaskan Way, I'd stop to take in the points of interest. There was the Great Wheel which is a giant ferris wheel that I regret not yelping. In its shadow is the Seattle Aquarium. There is the cruise ships, parks, a street car, and touristy businesses such as Miner's Way. My favored point of interest for celebrating the maritime scenery was Piers 61 & 62. It is a dock slash park north of Seattle Aquarium featuring benches. Looking to the west and south, these benches grant dramatic vistas of Elliot Bay alongside of the Great Wheel and Seattle Aquarium and Bainbridge Island. Looking to the east and northeast is a Seattle skyline with the Space Needle on a hill extending above the WA-99 Viaduct. The Seattle Waterfront is considerably more than a place to celebrate the water. It is a port of entry to the major cruise ships that dock in Seattle. It is where people hop on the ferries. It is a place to enjoy a beer or clam chowder soup in Miner's Way. Or just a place for a nice walk. The Seattle Waterfront is a separate world from downtown Seattle. To reach it from the vicinity of Pikes Place Market, it is obligatory to walk down a long flight of steps (I used Union Street). For people that object to long flights of stairs, there is the option of walking into Pioneer Square where a right on Yesler Way reaches the Seattle Waterfront. I appreciate the simple things in life. Spending time on the Seattle Waterfront while reliving a part of my Long Island heritage is a simple thing I would love to do again. read more

Probably the best thing about Waterfront Park is that it is ... as the name indicates located on the Seattle Waterfront. As you can probably guess the waterfront is very touristy and the fact that the park is here, sandwiched in between attractions is nice so you can put up your poor, tired feet for a bit at a bench. This park doesn't have rolling greens or playground equipment as one often thinks with a park. There is a lot of concrete being that it is over the water itself. Probably the best feature with this park is that you get some amazing views. You can see Puget Sound quite well and if the day is quite clear, the Olympic Mountains as well. You also get an excellent view of the city and The Great Wheel which is right by the park for some primo photo ops! Waterfront Park is a nice place to rest for a bit but in of itself it isn't really an attraction. read more

I can only comment on Waterfront Park based on my only experience here as a tourist. If it is a nice and sunny day, you need some exercise then it is worth the hike down and back up to the Waterfront Park. As when I visited it was cold and rainy. A lot of the area was under construction which was not easy to maneuver around all the barricades and sidewalk closure. Of course if you want to get on the Ferris Wheel then you do need to make it down to the waterfront area. There are a few restaurants and shops but ultra touristy. Once is enough. read more

I'm not sure if I explored the entirety of Waterfront Park, but from what I have seen so far, the stretch of land along Alaskan Way near the boats and next to the Aquarium is so beautiful! It's nearly impossible to judge a waterfront badly because water is water and seeing water is awesome! You can reach this "park" pretty easily by foot. If you are walking around Pike Place Market, the waterfront is literally a 5-10 minute walk downhill. You can't miss it by the huge ferris wheel, which was supposedly the biggest in the world... for five minutes. There's a lot to see and do on the waterfront besides just riding the ferris wheel. For example, there are a lot of fun shops to go to as well as expensive restaurants. If you go into the ferry building, there's even a carousel to take your friends around! Overall, this Waterfront Park is cool to check out if you are in the area. I wouldn't travel all the way to Seattle to see this area though; there's really not much else besides boating and visiting shops. Have fun and prosper, read more

The Waterfront Park is pretty and has some great views of the water. Also not too far from the Pike Place Market, so you can buy some food there and bring it over here to have a nice outdoor picnic (but there are also some restaurants along the waterfront). Just as everyone here has mentioned, the ferris wheel is here so you can ride it (however we were told by our tour guide, in which we were on a free walking tour with Seattle Free Walking Tour http://seattlefreewalkingtours.org/, that recently the wheel had to shut down for a whole hour. How unfortunate for those stuck at the top!). You can catch a few ferries (if you want to take your car, it does cost extra) here. The aquarium is also found near here. The only negative of this Waterfront Park is that there is no public restrooms (just sneak into one of the restrooms in the nearby restaurants if you really have to use it). Another negative is that if you want to walk to (or back to) the Pike Place Market, it is rather a long hike back (plenty of stairs to work your quads). But there are also a few elevators (if you can find them, they are kind of hidden) if the climb is just not your thing. read more

The Seattle waterfront has made some revisions for the better and a large part of that is the Waterfront Park. It really has some great views of the water and the Great Wheel, as it's conveniently located between the Seattle Aquarium and Miner's Landing and the Great Wheel. It's not a large park and doesn't even have any greenery, but the view is really why you come here. It's nice that along the waterfront, there's a place where you can just sit and relax, with tables and chairs throughout the park. Also, I saw there's a ping pong table here, with the paddles and ball right there for you to use, just in case you happen to be Forest Gump. If you don't want to walk, there are plenty of bicyclists with carriage seats around, asking if you want a lift. Waterfront Park is especially great to take visitors to for the obligatory yet epic photos of the view. But I admit that even as a local, the view still takes my breath away whenever I'm here. read more

The sunset was gorgeous, the walk along the pier was perfect. I remember it always being cold and COLD. the addition of the Ferris wheel is okay. It is expensive but gives great views of the city and Elliot Bay as well as lake Union. But you can always go to the space needle to get even better views. Just something different. This has been a great area to visit for as long as I can remember, There is lots to do here, and recently they have been adding reasons to come (the ferris wheel for example) but don't forget the old attractions, the ferry, the aquarium, some fun restaurants, boat excursions, etc. Its fun to sit and eat on the waterfront. I like getting takeout at Ivar's and sitting on their pier to eat and feed the seagulls. Getting here from Pikes Place is fairly easy, just take the stairs down (lots of stairs) or figure out the elevators (that will make the return MUCH easier! read more

Nestled amongst several tourist attractions along the waterfront, this aptly named little cement park is a nice spot to rest and re-group. It's also a prime spot to take photos or simply sit and take in the views. Some cool sculptures are also scattered around for your further enjoyment. You can even play ping pong but you might have to bring your own ball. It's not really a destination but, if you're in the area, you'll mostly likely pass by or through this park. read more

I loved this park! Such a neat vibe. It was crowded unfortunately but didn't seem trashy. Lots of little shops, a hotdog stand, and some sit-down restaurants. We rode the Ferris wheel and loved it! I didn't like the price at first, but afterwards, we thought it was worth it. Each group gets their own compartment (if you can fit). The views are beautiful - the water and the city. I love the Waterfront Park! More of a small boardwalk, really, with some benches and tables. I go here on my lunch break to get outside and enjoy the Sound; there are usually tourists perusing the view and children running around, having come fresh out of the Aquarium next door. I love having my lunch here! The view is fantastic, there're a lot of places to sit, and there are trash cans to throw away my refuse. The wooden plank floor is usually clean and the few homeless wanderers are usually reserved! I once saw a needle on the ground, and there are a fair amount of pigeons. Touring groups of children can be distracting when you're trying to listen to This American Life or read your book, but what can you do? Forgive the raving little buggers and enjoy your lunch, that's what. I shouldn't be giving away the details of my favorite quasi-private lunch lounge, but I just love Yelping too much to hold back! You can buy lunch at Michou's in Pike Place Market and bring it here to eat it! Take the Pike Place Hill Climb all the way down (the top of the climb is at Pike and 1st, down that small road next to the Chase ATM in the middle of the Market on Pike). Seriously, if you're a tourist, you should go here to sit down and eat and get a great view, then maybe go to the aquarium next door. If you're a local, eat your lunches here with me!
