Our tour was led by the head pf the department. The breadth of her knowledge of the museum, her predecessors, and collection was impressive. Did you know that England has a copy of our T Rex in their Natural History museum? Dippy's extra bones need a new resting place. Currently they have been resting on this shelf since 1800's. The wood is injuring the bottom of the fossil. (I think dinosaur lovers would donate the $30k to get Dippy's bones a new resting place.) Researchers come to study the collection. Fork lifts are used to transfer the bones from one surface to the next. A local college student found an undiscovered amphibian while searching for fern fossils on FedEx property by Pittsburgh International Airport. A ton of art work throughout Andy Warhol's life. The iconic paintings of Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Campbell's Soup, and Coca-Cola are all here. I had a fun time in the video booth where you can record your own distorted video just how Andy Warhol used to record his guests. The museum is $25 for adults, $13 for seniors, $13 for students with ID, and $13 for kids 3-18 years old. Located right by PNC Park the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

There is a lift for wheelchairs. There is a play room to build Lego things. You can touch nearly every display, which is unusual. Please don't break them. There was a room we could not enter because some kids climbed under the rail and destroyed a display. This place is fun and fascinating and it was well worth, more than worth the three hour drive for us to get there. You really should go. I thought it was better than Legoland. On a side note...I had two GPS units running and they both told me I had arrived when I was still two blocks away.

In recent years, more plants have been planted, and more buildings have been constructed. The garden now has a welcome center and gift shop, an event center, an administration building, a picnic area, a homestead with a chicken coop and an apple orchard, a log house, a pavilion, a gazebo, an apiary (for beehives), a pond, a bird's nest, and, of course, many gardens, meadows, and woodlands. So far, I have visited this garden four times over several years--three times to walk along the paths and view the plants and once to see the Dazzling Nights Christmas lights. The paths are easy to follow and take me about one hour to walk. The native plants look pretty, but I wish that more flowering plants were included. During my most recent visit, the gardens had 15 Scraposaurs, which are dinosaur and prehistoric sculptures that were made from repurposed metal. Even my husband enjoyed the natural scenery and the artwork.

I didnt have much luck finding things in the area until i stumbled upon here on the map. When we arrived I was surprised to see the center is in a mall. I was expecting a stand alone building. I will say the center is a bit smaller than it looks online, but nonetheless packed with fun. I loved all the hands on learning experiences. They had everything from musicmaking, space exploration and dinosaur excavating. I saw they also have a party room that can be rented for birthdays. My daughter played her for hours and still cried when we left. We came on a Saturday morning. There was many other kids but it wasnt packed. For the amount of people in the small space, it wasnt overly noisy or messy either. If we are ever back in the town, we will definitely stop by again! Also, the price was unbeatable! $6 dollars for unlimited play.

Bradford House was built by the lawyer David Bradford in 1788 and today is a National Historic…read moreLandmark and museum. David, his wife, his many children, and his servants lived in this stone house until 1794, when they fled to avoid David's arrest for his role in the Whiskey Rebellion. Depending on the month, Bradford House offers drop-in and scheduled tours. The drop-in tours are for individuals and small groups and have no admission fee, although donations are appreciated. Group tours should be arranged in advance and do have an admission fee. I read on their website that for groups they offer dining-room parties that serve teas and 18th-century-style foods--sounds fun! My husband and I were walk-ins for a tour. Two docents who were dressed in period clothing walked us through the house: the foyer, parlor, and dining room on the first floor; the beautiful mahogany stairwell and the simpler servants' stairwell; and the sewing room, children's room, master bedroom, and servants' quarters on the top floor. In addition, a docent walked us to the backyard that contained an herb garden, well, and log kitchen cabin (which has occasional hearth-cooking demonstrations). A small gift shop offered merchandise such as books and t-shirts. The docents throughly explained the history of the house, its architecture and renovation, the furniture (which is from the time period but was not owned by the Bradfords), etcetera, and they kindly answered our questions. I did not time our tour, but we were there for probably about one hour. Educational and interesting!

You're so shocked when you go in there just how many pinball machines they have. Not only that but they have machines from the early 20th century and every decade until close to the present. It was near to see the earliest games and how games have evolved over time. It was also nice to see some old favorites and games fashioned after old tv shows and movies. We had a great time playing all the games and meeting other people who like going there and playing. We told friends so we can hopefully all go back there together.

I…read morelike pinball, but enjoy arcade games much more, so this was a slight let down, but opened my eyes to the beauty of what pinball is all about. I have played pinball many times, but never heavily. I was forced to explore the pinball games more and got a great experience. I learned that pinball is about launching that ball out there to see how the machine will interact with the ball. Instead of just trying to get the highest score, just see what the game will do and try to get your ball up those ramps and hit off those bumpers. Some have extra levels with another set of flippers that make playing more interesting. I got better at playing multi-ball which is a tricky skill to master. The only downside is that you will find many games that do not work, or are shut down with no sign to indicate the games status. It kind of gets frustrating going from game to game to see which one actually works. Also, it was freezing in there today and my hands got numb from being in there for a long stretch. If you go downstairs they have the really ancient games. Most of them do not work, but it is fun to see what kind of goofy games people used to play. Sad again is a large group of arcade games they left to die and rot down there, ouch! Overall I think it is a very cool place to check out and you can spend lots of time there having fun despite the problems. Like I said there a ton of games that do not work, but this is only a small percentage of the games that do work, so the good outweighs the bad.
