Of course, McDonald's is known for their Big Macs and fries but this morning it was a stop for their free internet as I had an 8:30 Zoom meeting and wanted to do it on wifi as I'm getting close to my monthly hotspot quota. Easy parking in the lot and I was in range of the wifi. I popped inside to purchase a bottle of water and use the restroom. It's only fair that I buy something to "pay" for the wifi, right? Worst service of any McDonald's around. McDonald's is one of my favorite fast food places, so it's disappointing. Missing food items are pretty consistent. Once they gave incorrect change because of a counting error. It was just change, but still. Fries are almost always soggy. I don't think I've ever had fresh crispy fries from this McDonald's location. Too bad because they don't have much competition. Hopefully management cracks down on poor service and food quality. read more

This location has two drive thru lanes running but were running only one through quickly, the other lane (which we were in) was moving only after a long wait. It was a busy Saturday morning and very frustrating. When we finally were able to order, they got the order wrong and took a long time to get the food out to us. I've been to McDonald's run well, where they run two lanes and operate the "holding area" in the drive thru well. This location did not do that. read more

I stopped on the way to Rockford and ordered a large fry and a large cup of coffee. I asked for a catsup for my fries and was shocked to see they charged me 50 cents for sauce? When you asked about it at the payment window they say d f I didn't order chicken nuggets I had to pay for sauces/catsup. I said I really didn't need the catsup. He didn't take it off the bill and just handed me back my change. Next window I made the same comment and the server just shoved the bag at me with no response. I opened the back to find catsup packets and cold stale fries. Also no napkins. The coffee was also Luke warm. I was afraid to ask for napkins because they might charge me even more for those. I-39, EL Paso EXIT is "well endowed" with "Fast Food," places. DQ, Burger King, & McD's are a "stone's throw" from each other. SO, competition works. Since the "BIG ROAD" was built, we started BREAKING" here, between the big, "busy city" EXITS. It's been remodeled "mucho" times, and is always a "NEW" modern McD's. That said, they do not yet have the new chicken bites, I saw on a TV "AD." I opted for the "real" chicken McNuggets, & they were VERY GOOD. Drinks "ARE NOT" all $1, but the largest is just 29 cents more, and served in a sturdy, reusable(at home) plastic container. The servers were CLASS people; most helpful & courteous. read more

I recently ate at this McDonald's; I was sick an hour later. I politely and discreetly provided this information to McDonald's so they could review their food handling procedures and be sure they were properly implemented. I initially did not wish to make a public issue of this. Mistakes can happen. I wanted to let them know of a potential problem so they could address it to protect the public health and their business. McDonald's phoned me and told me that foodborne illnesses take at least 24 hours to show symptoms. While on the phone, it took me less than 60 seconds on the internet to find the FDA and CDC both disagree with McDonald's. The FDA says that Staphylococcal food poisoning has an onset time of 1-6 hours. The CDC says it is 30 minutes to 6 hours. I did not argue. The call ended and I assumed that they would check the information that I told them about and review their procedures. Instead they sent me a coupon for an Extra Value Meal with a hand written note that said it "takes 24 hours to 72 hours to get a foodborne illness." As you can see in the above links, this is not true. Or, if it is true, then they should contact the FDA and CDC and share their wisdom with them. This establishment does not get it! They are not checking their procedures! Do they even know the correct procedures? Is this definitive proof that I got food poisoning at this McDonald's? No, but I have definitive proof with their note on a coupon that their knowledge of foodborne illnesses is not accurate per the FDA and CDC. Their insistence on remaining ignorant is a public health hazard. I will not ever go to this restaurant again. I am also now leery of all McDonald's and their procedures. They also claimed that they sold many other breakfast burritos on that day without a complaint. I will accept that as truth. But, that does not mean someone else did not get sick and did not bother to complain. It does not verify that their rotation procedures are correct and that I did not get old food (where the incubation period was long enough to cause the illness). It does not verify that their warming area was at the required temperature. It does not address whether their sick-leave procedures encourage ill employees to still come to work. It does not verify that employees are aware of the proper handling procedures to prevent foodborne illness. It does not verify that these procedures are enforced. Most unsettling of all is that even if they checked all their procedures, they may not have adequate knowledge of foodborne illnesses to establish correct handling procedures. They certainly do not know the illness onset time. I will never go back there. read more

Most of my order was ready very quickly except that I ordered a scramble egg, which they had to cook fresh. My boyfriend & I were on our way to a wedding & wanted to grab a quick snack. Well we must have been the first people ever to go in there dressed up. One of the employees walked around the counter, stood right behind us & tried to get his co-workers attention. Once he had his attention they both started laughing. It was extremely rude, immature, & unprofessional. I understand it's McDonald's so you probably don't care much about personality, but being in the serving industry myself, I would have been embarrassed to have worked with these people.
