I've been to Yardbird twice now and I think overall it's a reliable choice in Bramhall although I…read morewouldn't travel from far away to visit. Nachos were really tasty although bf pointed out that better layering would have made them perfect. The BBQ platter is so random - multiple cuisines (american, japanese, indian) on one platter. For me the most memorable element was the fish cakes, ribs I seem to remember were good too. I probably wouldn't get this again, in preference to the nachos, but it bodes well for crab cakes and fish cakes elsewhere on the menu. After my first cocktail (which i think was a velvet elvis) our very friendly waiter recommended me the special, the Turkish delight martini - it was fantastic. I have a Turkish delight inspired cocktail before at Gaslamp but obviously it's not something you see on a menu v often - particularly nice to see it popping up in a suburban neighbourhood restaurant! On my second trip my friends were really impressed with the salmon and the veggie burger (plus the sweet potato fries). I'm trying to eat more veg for went for the quinoa and avocado salad - nice ingredients and size although the tahini dressing was a little sweet for my taste. They bring delicious little bites of chocolate brownie with coffee, which is a lovely touch.

But, we then found plastic in the Mac n cheese that was claimed to be from the plastic tub they store food in, considering the food is so pricey, I'm shocked it's not freshly made.

I'm merely a Californian rather than a Texan but I'll definitely be coming back to Grillstock…read more We wanted to get the burnt ends but they were out unfortunately, so my husband had the Burnside Burger, which was well cooked and had delicious streaky bacon on it. We shared the Wings and Rings which were supposed to come with some dip but didn't, luckily they were very good and we didn't bother asking for any as we ate them too fast. I chose the Bluegrass Crispy Chicken sandwich, which was the nicest fried chicken I've had in the UK so far. And I am slightly obsessed with fried chicken so that's saying something. The only nitpick there is that there is no reason for this to be a sandwich, the bun adds nothing to the experience and the chicken breast shape makes it awkward. They should just make it a plate and add a biscuit or some mashed potatoes or something instead. It was nice to see they had iced tea on the drinks menu since that is bafflingly rare in the UK, but for some reason the only option had apple juice and mint in it. It was fine, but a bit on the sweet side and not really what I wanted. But that's on me, ultimately. The beer selection is fine but unexceptional. It was a Saturday night and the place was super busy but we did get seated reasonably fast. Service at the table was reasonably good. Service at the bar was nonexistent (bartender was busy but not crazily so, still managed to avoid serving us or making eye contact for ten minutes until we were whisked away to our table). All in all a bit of a mix but solid on the food front, I look forward to trying the rest of the menu.

This establishment markets itself as an American type BBQ eatery, but the food is no where near. The ribs were the worst I've ever had. They were the consistency of jerky with no where near the flavor. They needed to be off the grill about an hour or two sooner, assuming they were cooked here rather than arrived frozen and pre-cooked in the first place. The beef brisket was drowned in sauce so there really wasn't any beef flavor to be found. The pork (as marketed in their logo) was overcooked as well. The fries were good and the beer was cold, which helped in washing it all down. One should/would not expect American quality meat in Europe, but it should be better than this.
