Had THE greasiest Quarter Pounder from this location. Not to McDonald's standard (as a former McDonald's grill cook, I'm speaking from experience). The grease soaked the bun and dripped excessively. The food here is always excellent for the most part. Staff is TYPICALLY polite and courteous, but there have been numerous instances where they're all yelling at each other or arguing about not doing what they're supposed to. I prefer going there in the daytime as the last time I went after work (shortly after 9:30) my carmel iced coffee had too much syrup and not enough cream. I'm not one to say whether one Mickie Dees is better than another, but it's pretty mediocre here. With Waupun being a prime spot for hungry travellers passing through, I'd expect better. The employees are OK, they don't seem to put forth a lot of effort up front by the register. The place is decently clean and the fry cooks in the back seem to working pretty fast most of the time. The food is usually pretty neat, I've only had a few times where it seemed like my meal was thrown together so it looked slightly presentable. Overall, if the place decides to get more upbeat for tourists in the future, it might be a recommendable place to go to get a bite to eat. For now, its just the average McDonald's without the extra "umph" that it needs. It's not horrible, just needs a few touch ups here and there. read more

It's not often I walk out of a fast food restaurant, but I did today. Using their new kiosk self-ordering, was apparently MANDATORY, since they were short staffed and had no one at the counter. The manager was clearly overwhelmed, running around taking food out to waiting cars, (the line outside was crazy). I ordered at the kiosk as requested, but it glitched and told me to pay at the counter, which I tried to do but couldn't get anyone's attention (if anyone is reading this, check order number 23 from this morning). After 5 minutes, I gave up. I went across the street to Dunkin Donuts, was waited on promptly, and was out in 2 minutes flat. BTW, McDonalds Corporate take note, TOO many clicks to order at the Kiosk, confusing button placement and color. Poor UX design. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to. While service can be slow at times (it's not their fault because of a lot of costumers at some times), my favorite foods is probably the ketchup only cheese burger with fries. One of my favorite workers there are my uncle John and someone I know from school named Victoria but goes by Vicky. Had a very disappointing experience here today. Owner called the police to have me, my wife, and my two grandchildren evicted because, in addition to food bought at the McDonalds counter, we were also eating food bought at a competitor (Culver's). (One of the grandchildren loves McDonalds; the other can find nothing there he will eat.) I find it utterly stunning that a restaurant that prides itself on customer service and welcome to families would stoop to this tactic. We drive by this restaurant frequently. I had a similar experience to others. My wife, 3 yr. old son, and I stop here as we passed through town. I couldn't find a clean table, so I asked for a towel to clean my own. Presumably the manager came out and grudgingly wiped one down, and when she was finished, saw I had a Culver's soda cup and bag. She promptly told me I would have to leave with my food. Instead of wasting the food, I put it under my jacket so my son could eat his lunch. The manager tried to inconspicuously spy on me, several times, to see if I brought it out. Other patrons laughed and said this was the norm at this store. I find it ridiculous that that they feel the need to act this way. What they don't know is that I am an e-commerce analyst, and will have shared this experience on every outlet possible by the end of the day. read more

A manager yelled loudly at a group of girls in their 20s for talking and laughing in the corner of the restaurant even though it was completely empty. They also would not give them an extra cup for water even though they had purchased food there 20 minutes before. Good service at the morning drive-thru, but terrible manners inside. read more

Those other negative reviews are apparently more of the norm rather than the exception. We waited 20 minutes for our breakfast and only got service moving after 15 minutes when I asked either for my food or my money returned. Do you like Napkins or perhaps have the habit of eating your Hotcakes with those plastic forks? Well, good luck with that, they keep those things behind the counter and provide them - very grudgingly - only upon request! Want just a bit more syrup for those Hotcakes? Hey, not so fast ...... all condiments are "Extra"!! How Much? I don't know; I was too stunned and disgusted to ask. Oh, and the Hotcakes were stone cold. I give this place a single star because I have to admit that it does have a really great parking lot. Someday, maybe soon, it might be a good spot to build a new Restaurant. I can't imagine that the Good People of Waupun - or Corporate McDonalds for that matter - are going to tolerate the Clowns that run this place forever! You now have a decision to make. Either you'll decide that I'm a Total Loser who has nothing better to do than write long reviews about the Worlds Most Generic Restaurant or you'll decide that behind this particular set of Golden Arches lurks some really nasty people who are skilled only in providing a really miserable service experience. I took my grandchildren for breakfast this morning. We waited at least 10 minutes to order. They didn't seem to have enough staff. The only good comment is they did have everything correct which usually isn't the case at this location. The glass doors between the play area and the order counter were filthy. I don't believe it had been cleaned for a week. This should be done at least twice a day. We went to sit down in the play area and the seat was covered with syrup. After our meal the children went into the playhouse and they discovered old vomit on the upper deck. I believe that should be checked for cleanliness everyday. I think an health inspector would have a field day here. read more

I placed an order for a QuarterPounder meal and asked to have it made with no cheese, but to add to it lettuce and mayo. I received the burger 7 minutes later and it had ONLY lettuce and mayo on it. I drove back through and the staff turned out the lights. I then pulled up to the drive thru window where the staff stood, looked at me, but refused to come to the window - even though I actually motioned to one employee to come over...his response? He laughed at me and walked away. The order was placed at 10:52 PM and received at 10:59 PM. Perhaps if the staff had served me more promptly, they would have had time to remake the burger correctly. Waupun McDonald's proves it cannot handle the simplest of tasks and their customer service is HORRENDOUS. read more

We recently stopped at this McDonalds while traveling to our campsite. The 1st person we encounter was the "Manager" Katie who rudely told us that we couldn't bring our Culver's food into their restaurant. I explained that more than 1/2 our group wanted McDonalds but only 2 of us had gotten Culvers. We wanted to eat and use the play land before getting back on the road. I explained to Katie that we had been on the road for 90 minutes and just wanted to eat and allow the kids a play break before getting back on the road. Her reply was "only if you leave your other food outside." This apparently is the owners' direction. When I asked for the owners contact information she continued to holler at me. I told her that I wasn't interested in her excuses, that I wasn't happy, the kids were hungry and that was my primary concern. I continued to ask for the owner's contact information as I felt this policy was not in good customer service in any way, shape or form. At this time, another employee jumped into the conversation and also started yelling at me about this policy and that I would have to leave. We did leave, after they provided me a generic phone number. We went back to Culvers so I could feed the rest of the kids. Culvers admitted that they would have had no problem if we had wanted to bring McDonalds in. I am extremely disappointed in this McDonalds as Waupun is a small community and this McDonald's must get the bulk of its business from travelers like myself. If we had stopping in there to just play in the play land without purchasing any food, they would have had every reason to be upset. However, 1/2 of my group would have been eating there. If they can't make a meal that appeals to adults or a meal that was comparable quality to Culver's they wouldn't have this problem. Bottom line, rude employee's and apparently no business is better than some business. On the way home that weekend, because of the drive, we stopped again but waited until we got to Oshkosh. That McDonald's had no problem with us bringing food in as long as some of our food was purchased there. I travel that route from Green Bay to Janesville on a regular basis but will not stop at that McDonald's again. There are plenty of other businesses in the area that do want my business. read more

Don't expect fast service at this McD's at ANY time, especially in the morning. One cook for as busy as they are in the morning? Really? I went inside because of the HUGE line at the Drive Thru and ordered an egg McMuffin this morning. My receipt time was 7:35. I finally had to leave at 7:41 because I couldn't be late for work. 6 minutes for 1 egg McMuffin? Really? I lost my $3.37 but I didn't care because I couldn't be late for work. There were 3 crew members and 1 manager expediting food which was NOT coming out of the kitchen fast enough because of the 1 solo cook. SOMEONE GO HELP HER!!!!! I have had many other issues with this McD's and this morning was the last straw. I will NEVER go there again, and I work in Waupun and used to frequent WHEN I HAD EXTRA TIME.
