I can no longer recommend Open Wide Dental…read more I was a patient of Dr. Durisek at Open Wide Dental for over 20 years. That is now over and I will never return to this dental practice. The quality of the service rapidly declined in recent years and culminated with Dr. Durisek leaving the practice. After seeing a new dentist at a different dental practice, I was informed that a failed filling was allowed to go for years without being brought to my attention for treatment. I lost all trust in Open Wide Dental. This office is also sorely lacking in modern dental technology.

Unfortunately, that was the most positive part of my experience. As someone who keeps up with regular cleanings and has historically had very minimal dental issues, I was surprised by the significant amount of dental work that was recommended and performed. In less than one year, I had multiple fillings and my first two crowns, requiring more than a dozen visits to the office. More concerning, several of the repairs completed at this office did not hold up. Three fillings that were placed chipped within months. One ultimately required a crown, and the other two needed to be redone entirely. Prior to this, I had never experienced dental work failing so quickly; historically, my dental work has lasted many years without issue. Because I had previously had braces, I wear a retainer at night to maintain my alignment. When I received my first crown, I later learned that my existing retainer would no longer fit and needed to be remade. As someone who had never had a crown before, I was unaware that this would be necessary, and the additional cost was unexpected and frustrating. While the office ultimately waived the cost of the second retainer required for the second crown, the first replacement retainer was an added charge that could have reasonably been anticipated or discussed ahead of time. Equally frustrating was that each visit was with a different dentist, and the treatment recommendations often differed from one provider to the next. This lack of continuity made it difficult to feel confident in the care being provided. When I returned for repairs on work that had recently been completed, I was also surprised that there was no effort to offer a reduced cost or warranty-type accommodation. In many professional settings, when a repair fails shortly after being performed, the corrective work is handled as a courtesy. That was not the case here. While the team is friendly, the volume of procedures, number of return visits, the durability of the work performed, the unexpected additional costs, and the lack of consistency in providers ultimately made this a frustrating experience. As a result, I ultimately chose to seek care elsewhere and hope this feedback encourages greater transparency and continuity of care for future patients.

If you have dental anxiety this is the office you need! The environment is calm and homey. They go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and at ease. Then there is Dr B! Dr B is so amazing! He has a wonderful sense of humor that makes the entire office a joyful environment and greatly reduces the anxiety of a dental visit. I had to have dentures placed and he was so gentle and did such an amazing job surgically that my recovery was unbelievably quick and not nearly as painful as I had anticipated. He had to remove all my remaining teeth due to a medication I was on for 6 months that caused my teeth to become brittle and break at the gum line. I did not have one bruise, or even the slightest swelling. He is THAT GENTLE and is truly exceptional in his technique. I will always recommend this wonderful amazing dental group. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. Months later, I had a prolonged and frustrating experience trying to complete a routine dental cleaning at this office. Appointments were repeatedly scheduled and canceled after I had already arrived at the office because of preventable issues, including discomfort during treatment setup, cold air blowing directly on me, a chair position that caused gagging, a hygienist I perceived as condescending and dismissive, unexpectedly time-consuming x-rays during a routine cleaning appointment that caused the appointment to be rescheduled, and ongoing confusion about insurance coverage. The insurance issue was handled poorly. I repeatedly received conflicting information from both the office and my insurance provider regarding in-network status and spent months following up with calls, texts, and emails to clarify basic eligibility and coverage. After the in-network question had supposedly been resolved and my routine appointment was scheduled again, I arrived only to be informed that the office was actually out-of-network and the visit would be self-pay. Then, when the office manager again stated that the visit could proceed, I was informed there would be an additional $60 out-of-pocket charge for a hygienist assistant, without a clear explanation for why this was necessary. Communication was inconsistent, sometimes with weeks between calls, texts, and emails, and the overall approach felt reactive rather than organized or patient-focused. There was no real sense of accountability from either the office or the insurance provider regarding the repeated scheduling failures: no apology for the three appointments I showed up for that did not take place, no resolution of the ongoing coverage confusion (ultimately caused by an incorrect tax identification number on the part of the dental office), and no recognition of the significant time I had invested in resolving an issue that was not caused by me. After multiple failed attempts to complete a routine cleaning, I agreed with the office manager to discontinue care at Dental On Central and will seek care elsewhere.

I go back because…read moreI love my hygienist and have been satisfied with the dentists I've seen over the years and do not feel like starting over somewhere new. While I do not have first hand experience with this aspect of their practice, it does also appear that they are quite good with the special needs community and I do respect their efforts there. However, there are multiple very frustrating things about this office: - They are extremely focused on money and will shove it down your throat at every turn. I realize this is the sad state of affairs at most facilities in the health care field, but it is still quite off-putting. Again, I have been a patient for many (10+) years. Never once have I not paid a bill, no-showed for an appt, etc., yet the focus is always first and foremost on collecting their money before they start pretending to care about you. - Their appt confirmation process borders on harassment. Recently at least they have finally started to accept text confirmations rather than a phone call requiring you to speak to a person (not leave a message) in order for the confirmation to be accepted. But I still receive and respond to multiple texts to confirm my appts. I'm also reminded with each text about their cancellation policies and no-show fees. I realize these are likely automated texts, but as a patient for 10+ yrs who has never caused a problem with bills or appts, it's quite annoying to receive multiple texts with this information for every appt. - It is nearly impossible to determine what insurances they accept; and what they do actually accept changes significantly every year. They do not list this info on their website and also will not provide it if you call or ask in person. They will tell you to call the myriad insurances and ask them if this facility accepts their plans. That is outrageous and never once has any other health care office suggested something so preposterous. Not only that, but several times over the years I have confirmed with both the office and the insurance that my plan will be accepted, only to be told at my next appt that it is not. So many years I have paid for insurance that I cannot use and then had to pay out of pocket at the office. This has happened once again this year - I switched insurances for 2026 and verified that my plan would be accepted. Now I'm told that it is not and Dental on Central is blaming the insurance company for having an outdated list . You know what would solve this problem? PUBLISH A LIST ON YOUR WEBSITE LIKE EVERY OTHER OFFICE IN THE COUNTRY. Again, I have continued to put up with the crap because my hygienist is wonderful. But I may finally be reaching the end of my rope with this place and am considering starting the search for a new provider. Save yourself the headaches and just go elsewhere.

Front desk said "we arent charging you an fee/deductible because we are LETTING them bill you for it, then called their "sister" property and after about 15 minutes I was told "if you get there by 12 noon then they can complete it today" and regretfully drove there and was immediately told, "no we said the earliest we could get you in to be seen is 1230pm" and that I would have to wait 2-4 hours in the waiting room and hope someone cancels. Absolutely embarrassing me being put in this situation. Gave me controlled script on a regular piece of people in which CVS laughed at it and needed the office to call in the script. I texted imagine and explained and they said "well everyone else doesn't have a problem with it" and I asked if the dr could call it in or do whatever is needed. Said they would tell the dr. Flash forward 25 hours and nothing. No follow up saying the dr couldn't call it in or anything. I went to my general DR and explained what happened and called in for some meds. I looked up AZ Max and they have been the biggest help ever. The straw that broke the camels back is they had the audacity to send me a bill of the extraction with no explanation. You think the Dr would have someone follow up with me since he KNEW he spent 2.5 hours on a failed tooth extraction and put me through hell and just brushed me off to some other facility. Glad he made sure to try and make me pay for what he FAILED to do and his front desk said there wouldn't be a charge in the first place.

The hygienists are careful and thorough and the office is very relaxing with floor to ceiling windows and city-mountain views from the 6th floor; perfect for distracting your mind! They have very thorough COVID protocols right now with a squirt of hand sanitizer when you arrive, temperature check, wipe down of the counter when you sign in, and a mouth rinse with peroxide before your cleaning. They also added HEPA filters in each room and a new vacuum-rinse system that minimizes aerosols so I felt very safe during my two recent visits.
